C-PVC pipe and sheet extrusion lines

KraussMaffei Berstorff Your system supplier for production lines for C-PVC pipe and sheet
Focus on the extruder

When it comes to engineering production systems for C-PVC products, many years of experience in extrusion technology are a major success factor. KraussMaffei Berstorff extruders are engineered for optimal processing of all C-PVC compounds on the market today (with an increased chlorine content of 62-69% and a density of 1.50 to 1.55 g/cm). In particular, the extruder is engineered specifically for C-PVC materials. The screw geometry is matched to the material and all flow channels also in the tooling (pipeheads and sheet dies) are chrome-plated. External oil-based screw heating, combined with materialspecific screw geometry, ensures that melt tem perature and shear rates are optimally controlled.

For pipe extrusion, KraussMaffei offers a range of four twin-screw extruders delivering output up to 700 kg/h. Together with our pipeheads and downstream units, they can produce pipe in the diameter range 12 to 500 mm. In the smaller diameters, they can be configured for a dualstrand process. For sheet extrusion, we offer two extruders with output up to 700 kg/h.

Engineering competence guarantees highest quality end products

In engineering our C-PVC extrusion lines, KraussMaffei Berstorff has drawn on the tried-and-trusted machin ery and features of our other successful extrusion systems. For instance, completely chrome-plated screws and adapters, diffusion-tight chrome-plated dies and hardened polishing stack rolls with high-polish chromeplating. Screws are molybdenum-coated; barrels are nitrided for excellent hardness and a high hardness depth. On request and if the wear characteristics of the C-PVC formulation call for these measures, we will supply screws armored with Wolfram carbide, paired with bimetallic barrels. These wear-protected processing units last 2 to 3 times longer than standard screws and barrels; customers profit from a stable process and uniform product quality over very long production runs.

Applications and products

Wide range of products for a huge diversity of applications Some typical applications

C-PVC pipe, sheet and moldings are generally used where products must combine high mechanical strength with excellent resistance to high temperatures. Because of their greater chemical resistance to acids and caustic solutions, C-PVC products are also used to build systems and equipment for the chemicals and semi-conductor industries.

With their higher chlorine content, C-PVC products have better heat resistance and higher tensile strength. They are also more resistant to acids, bases and oxidizing media, such as chlorine, ozone and saltpeter. C-PVC products are flame and corrosion resistant, they can be mechanically processed without difficulty, and they can be glued and welded with excellent results owing to their higher surface tension. C-PVC products are suitable for the temperature range -40 C to +95 C.
