The Highest Efficiency Chlorine-Free Chillers In The World

Todays customers demand high-efficiency products with exceptional value. Carriers Evergreen centrifugal chillers provide this value by achieving energy efficiency levels, utilizing time-proven technology designed specifically for chlorine-free refrigerant. This combined effect ensures the most cost-effective, reliable solution to todays comfort cooling and process cooling applications. The addition of the turbine is a revolutionary advancement in technology. It represents the only major change to the basic vapor compression refrigeration cycle since the first centrifugal chiller was invented by Dr. Willis Carrier in 1922.

Reliable Operation
The Evergreen single-stage compressor design utilizes stationary tunnel diffuser technology to optimize compressor efficiency while reducing the total number of moving parts and increasing product reliability. Twenty-five years of operating experience go into each hermetic compressor motor. Since they are refrigerant cooled, Carriers Evergreen hermetic motors run cooler and cleaner, providing longer life while eliminating shaft seal leakage, high noise levels, and machine room cooling associated with open-motor designs.

Chlorine-Free HFC-134a Refrigerant

Evergreen chillers use chlorine-free HFC-134a refrigerant with zero ozone-depletion potential. As the refrigerant of choice for automotive and appliance manufacturers, HFC-134a production continues to rise assuring you a plentiful supply of refrigerant at reasonable prices in the years to come. The Evergreens positive-pressure design also reduces the chiller size by up to 35%, compared to negative-pressure designs, minimizing the need for costly mechanical room floor space. In addition, positive-pressure designs eliminate the need for expensive negative-pressure containment devices, reducing system first cost. With Carriers optional built-in isolation valves and unit-mounted pumpdown, refrigerant can be stored inside the chiller during servicing, reducing refrigerant loss and eliminating time-consuming transfer procedures.

Built-in Quality
All Evergreen heat exchangers are designed, manufactured, and tested to meet strict ASME section VIII, division I code for unfired pressure vessels. Compressors are 100% run-tested to ensure proper operation of all compressor systems, including electrical, oil management, power transmission, and compression. Controls and optional unit-mounted starters are tested for proper electrical function before and after unit mounting to ensure complete system operability. Carrier has invested significantly in the Evergreen product line to ensure that we provide you with the best value in highefficiency, chlorine-free centrifugal chillers.

Technological Leadership
In a breakthrough that utilizes advances adapted from Geothermal Power Turbine technology, Carrier has significantly reduced power consumption of HFC-134a positive-pressure chillers. The optional two-phase flow turbine expander is an energy reclaim system that attaches to an extended motor shaft on the chiller. Utilizing the HFC-134a pressure differential that exists between the condenser and the evaporator, the turbine supplements the energy furnished by the chiller motor, thus reducing external energy requirements. The result is ultra-high energy efficiencies, making the Evergreen chiller the highest efficiency chlorine-free centrifugal chiller in the world.
