Role-Based Resource Management

Role-Based resource managment will make it possible for your customers to plan and follow up on resources not only based on individuals but also on roles.

The roles are defined in the designer and Organizational roles

Each role will have a default cost and a associated cost center.

In the organization tab and the section Structure you can assign roles for your users.

Each user can have multiple roles with a determined distribution.

When allocation a resource you can select to allocate a user or a role

A task can have a mix of both userand role-based resource allocation

The Replace resource function will give you the possibility to assign all or a percentage of the work or to a individual
The application will help you to find a user that has the selected role. When assigning a user you will also be able to specify in what role that person is assigned.

The resource overview has a new perspective, allowing the user to overview roles instead of users

The Role based resource overview is based on both the allocation of roles and users.

Improved Security Settings

Updated set of permissions:
Has access to projects Gives the user basic permissions to the application (Team member) Can see project lists The user can se the project and portfolio list, but only including the projects that he/she has access to. Can Plan, follow up and create reports This is the project manager permission Can administer project lists Add/remove and mange portfolios, and prioritization Can edit all projects Edit access to all projects Can configure Access to the designer Can administer Access to the administration Security level Determines what projects the user has access to

Improved Security Settings Security Level

With the Security level it will be possible to control access to the projects on a new Level
The security level of a project is set in the project properties and a default level can be set on the Project Type

Each User and Project has a security Level. A user can se the project if he/she is a member of the project or the user has a security level higher than the project.

What a user that is not listed as a project member in the projects can see and do in a specific project is defined by the Nonmember role

Time Plan Optimization

New Time plan optimization Feature in available fro the Gantt Chart. The optimization will remove all possible slack in the selected path of the project plan based on dependencies and duration

Verify and Confirm the action before it applies

EVM - Calculations
Use EVM Calculations to generate early warnings in you projects. Positive and negative indications for work packages and tasks.

CANEA Projects 2012 has support for CPI and VAC% for both resources and costs.

EVM values:
VAC = Variance At Completion (budget prognosis) VAC% = Relative prognosis of cost or time deviation CPI = Cost Performance Index, Efficiency of resource utilization

EVM values will be shown on the portal, in planning and follow up tools

EVM Calculations Setting up EVM Thresholds

In the system settings you will be able to configure the threshold values and what EVM calculations that should be used.

Improved project stream

In CANEA Projects 2012 you can use the stream in more contexts like document, costs and resource assignments.

The stream in CANEA Projects 2012 has E-mail support. All directed stream entries can be sent as an email to the receiver. The stream also has support for private entries.

Business Case Management The Project

CANEA Projects 2012 has a new feature for business case management. Including KPI value of the Project like NPV, ROI, Pay back time, etc. The project members will be able to see and edit the Business Case in the project portal

Reporting With Excel

Define your excel templates with tags to extract data from the projects, formulas and charts. A listing of all tags can be found in the help files. Add the templates and activate them for the project lists or specific project types. The reports can created from the project status page or the project lists.
