The aim was initiated by Pierre Crsole was to reconstruct the war damaged village Esnes-en-Argonne and to be a symbol of reconciliation and peace. Voluntary projects were mainly relief services for regions affected by natural disasters, community projects, development aid and humanitarian projects. During the first decades voluntary projects were organized with no formal structure. But the idea of organizing workcamps expanded to more countries after World War II. The exchange of volunteers and the organization were improved and increased tremendously. Nowadays IVS concept is spread around the world. Short and long term voluntary projects take place worldwide. They believe in promoting peace through concrete acts of solidarity and international cooperation, also believe that peace and peaceful attitudes can and need to be learned. 5 exploring ideas especially on the implementing part of the project. Two campleaders (or one for small group) are volunteering together in the workcamp. The are volunteers who are selected, trained, and mandated several responsibilities to facilitate and lead the workcamps. However, the successful of a workcamp is determined by the team work. Volunteer will stay in a camp site mostly located in the project site, in collaboration with partners or local communities with the main purpose of exchanging experiences, culture, mutual benefit between the relevant parties. Workcamp is mostly a euphoria event. International volunteers will become stars for the locals as most of Indonesian people are interested to new things/people including foreigners. This way, IIWC takes this opportunity to promote and raising awareness of issues addressed in the workcamps towards specific groups such as local mothers, fathers, students or just public in general. Workcamp is aimed at giving opportunity for international and local volunteers who would like to be involved in the action of IIWC international voluntary service (IVS) projects in seasonal basis. The objectives are: 1. To exchange experience and culture, to provide opportunities for volunteers to connect with and learn from the community through enjoyment of local life and exchange. 2. To promote change with remarkable and public action of voluntary works that improves the community. 3. Mutual benefit between the stakeholder, to empower not only the hosts, but also the local communities especially in depopulated areas. IIWC opens extra opportunities for international volunteers who join our workcamp program: 1) Volunteers who have experiences in leading workcamps in any countries organized by any CCIVS NGO members have chance to join (for FREE): IIWC Workcamp leadership Training for Campleader (a mini workcamp concept 4-5 days) Further information about this point will be available in IIWC Calls for International Campleaders by the end of March. 2) Volunteers who repeat participation for the 2nd time in IIWC workcamps, can be in the same year or two previous years, they will just to contribute 170 Euro as participation fee. 3) Volunteers who repeat participation for the 3rd or more time in IIWC workcamps, can be in the same year or two previous years, they will just to contribute 165 Euro as participation fee. 4) In case of group/bilateral workcamp, one volunteer of that group must be selected as group leader and the group leader is FREE of Participation fee. As one of the results of 1 st Asia-Pacific World Heritage Regional Forum of Site Managers and Youth NGOs: Linking Netactivities in August 2012 in Korea; IIWC, in cooperation with Ujung Kulon National Park office is to revive a so-called conservation community (kader konservasi) program of Ujung Kulon which is inline with the Young Guardian concept that IIWC established since 2009 in Borobudur Compound Temple. This is often neglected part of Borobudur temple by visitors and even local people. Volunteers will have chances to get to know and experiences the local culture such as handcrafting, pottery, landscape, arts, nature, etc. Volunteers are excepted to valorize this experience into their mind and reflect the meaning and importance of the sustainability of local cultures for supporting the existence of Borobudur temple and compound as a whole heritage, and share it in the training for YGC. 2) 5th Batch Enrichment Workshop for Young Guardian Volunteers must work as team to organize a 5 days training, especially the content of the training. In the previous workcamps, action is done in the temple area. Somehow, as volunteers and YGC are free to decide the action, for this year action will be up to the plan agreed together between volunteers and YGC. IIWC is to facilitate the idea. Volunteers are expected to have creative ideas in this phase. C. The aims of the camp are: The project aims at establishing the solid basis for local youth and communities to succeed in preserving the heritage site by participating in the wide range of conservation activities of the site. To make the World Heritage project more sustainable, the Young Guardian Club (YGC) was created in 2009 and since then long term volunteers and WHV work camp volunteers have been cooperating. This year IIWC would like to strengthen and widen the existing YGC in coordination with WHV. Due to the continuity of the programme, among youth, YGC is more recognized and attracting them to be more involved in heritage conservation. Participation in WHV 2013 will allow YGC Borobudur to be an exemplary practice and motivate other Indonesian youth communities to create their own clubs. D. Project Description IIWC-LMTV01/Abu Hurairah Orphan House/Salatiga Central Java/Kids, Edu/Any date except JulyAugust/18+/1 vol Abu Hurairah orphanage is one of moslem orphanages located in Salatiga (2 hours by bus from Semarang city center) with 65 children living in this orphanage. Orphanages in Indonesian's sense can be slightly different from those in other countries because orphanages in Indonesia do not always mean for the orphan children providing them with places to live, but also a place for the children coming from poor family background that they can get possibility to have education. Abu Hurairah orphanage serve the function as a place to stay for the children as well as to have education at least up to senior high school (in most cases up to the children reach the age of 18 years old). Most of children are orphan but many of them are also coming from poor family background that can not afford for the children's education. The needs that we identified from this project are: capacity building for the children to increase their self confident, inter cultural learning, additional English classes, and skill development for the children. Please note that the orphanage has 3 parts; 2 in Kauman (girls orphanage and for boys aged from 6-15 years old) and Soka part ( for older boys). The volunteers placement will depend on the need and decision of the orphanage, either the volunteer will go to Kauman or Soka part. Project: Organized together with the Moslem orphanage of Abu Hurairoh, the volunteers will organize additional English lessons for the children in the afternoon and evening (the children live separately between girls and boys and mainly the volunteers will work with the boys) and in the weekend or holiday, the volunteers can also organize additional fun activity for capacity building and self confident raising. Because of the limited time that the volunteers can spend to have activities with the children (most children will go to schools in the morning), the project will be also combined with school projects where the children are going to. The volunteers will be expected to organize English classes in some Muhammadiyah schools in the morning, either for elementary, junior or senior high schools. Other activities like inter cultural night, cooking different kind of foods from different countries, movie nights, outing together on holidays are also suggested to the volunteers to organize together with the children for raising self confident and self esteem as well as inter cultural learning aspect of the children. Skills classes can be organized accordingly to develop the skills of the children that later on they can use the skills to earn money when they are out from the orphanage. Work: Organizing additional English lesson for the children in the afternoon, organizing english classes at schools in the morning where the children are going to, organizing different kind of skills development activities like cooking, drawing, music, etc, organizing inter cultural night for example movie nights or other cultural performances together with the children.

MLC is situated and concentrates its operation in the eastern part of Semarang. This part of the city is very close to industrial center of Genuk and Mranggen. It also houses some of the most dense housing areas in the city, such as Tlogosari, Pucang Gading, and Lamper areas. Simply put, it is one of second most densely populated area in Semarang. Close to manufacturing factories and industrial district, this area provides its own set of challenges when it comes to education. Due to the average to low living standard, schools are either overcrowded or lacking of teaching staffs (or their quality thereof). In some of the poorest district in the area children are even forced to help their parents earn money after (or before) school begins. Low standard of education makes it hard for people to improve their economic condition which in turn creates the vicious cycle of poverty. Work: Essential Tasks Should you decide to take part in this MTV, you are required to: 1.Teach language to students who are mostly in adults to young adults range of age. 2. Conduct activities that helps build character and confidence. 3. Assist with the operation of the MLC. 4. Adhere to the rules and regulations set up by IIWC and MLC. Additional Tasks During the course of the program you may also required to: 1. Help organize community service activities. 2. Take part in evaluation meeting of MLC. Accommodation: Accommodation for the duration of the program will be arranged for you by a local coordinator. You will stay in a boarding house. It is very likely that you will have a room for yourself and that the boarding house is unisex; your boarding housemates will very likely to be of the same sex. Where youll be staying should not be too far from where you work, so workplace transportation should not be much of an issue. However, it is wise to note that the bathrooms in Indonesia are different from western bathrooms. Indonesian bathrooms have no showers and often no automatic toilet flushing system. People take the water manually from the water container when taking a bath and flush the toilet with water manually. Sometimes, squat toilets are installed instead of sitting toilet. So far this has pose no serious concern for our volunteers. Many have successfully adapt and even found it as a new experience. It is good to know that convenience stores are highly accessible in this part of the city. You can get all our daily needs there at a reasonable price. Volunteers are allowed to bring their own food. We suggest prudence when it comes to buying food from street

Moslem Pray Timing1

Muslims pray five formal prayers each day. The timings of these prayers are spaced fairly evenly throughout the day, so that one is constantly reminded of God and given opportunities to seek His guidance and forgiveness. You will hear the call to prayers (Azan) five times a day from the megaphone or loud speaker of Mosque for every praying time. Muslims observe the formal prayers at the following times: Fajr (pre-dawn): This prayer starts off the day with the remembrance of God; it is performed before sunrise. Azan between 03.30 05.00 am. Dhuhr (noon): After the day's work has begun, one breaks shortly after noon to again remember God and seek His guidance. Azan between 11.45 am 12.15 pm 'Asr (afternoon): In the late afternoon, people are usually busy wrapping up the day's work, getting kids home from school, etc. It is an important time to take a few minutes to remember God and the greater meaning of our lives. Azan between 3.00 3.30 pm Maghrib (sunset): Just after the sun goes down, Muslims remember God again as the day begins to come to a close. Azan between 5.40 6.15 pm 'Isha (evening): Before retiring for the night, Muslims again take time to remember God's presence, guidance, mercy, and forgiveness.2 Azan between 6.50 7.15 pm
