Site Name 12 Alarm Attribute Alarm Character 0:Normal 1:Transient Count Impact on the System The services on the TRX are disrupted. Consequently, the TRX shuts down the powe r amplifier, leading to service interruption. System Actions If this alarm is generated on the TRX that carries the BCCH, and if the TRX aidi ng function is enabled, the BCCH switchover is triggered in the case that this a larm is not cleared within two minutes. Possible Causes For the BTS3900 series, the possible causes are as follows: The CPRI link is faulty. The transmission link between the BSC and the BTS is faulty. A board is faulty. For the BTS3012 series, the possible causes are as follows: The transmission link between the BSC and the BTS is faulty. The cabinet is grounded improperly. The signal cable between the main control module and the TRX module is fault y. A board is faulty. The transmission cable is grounded improperly. Procedure

Check the site type according to the alarm location information. If the site type is BTS3900 series, go to step 2. If the site type is BTS3012 series, go to step 6. Check whether error codes exist by performing the BIU loopback test. Perform the BIU loopback test on the faulty TRX on the LMT, and then che ck whether error codes exist. Y => Error codes exist. Go to step 3. N => No error codes exist. Go to step b. Stop the BIU loopback test and reset the TRX on the LMT. Then, check whe ther the error codes are corrected. Y => The error codes are corrected. If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required. N => The error codes are not corrected. Go to step 4. Check the CPRI port on the LMT. On the LMT, check whether the 4102 TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is gene rated on each TRX of the TRX module. Y => The alarm is generated on each TRX of the TRX module. Go to step b. N => The alarm is not generated on each TRX of the TRX module. Go to ste p d. On the LMT, check whether any of the following alarms are generated on t he CPRI link: ALM-4210 SFP Port Local Alarm ALM-4212 SFP Port Remote Alarm ALM-4214 SFP Module fault Alarm ALM-4708 Clock Reference Abnormal Alarm ALM-4734 Master TMU clock alarm ALM-4736 Extended TMU clock alarm 4192 TRX communication alarm Y => Any of the seven alarms are generated on the CPRI link. Go to step c. N => None of the seven alarms is generated on the CPRI link. Go to step d. Clear the alarms according to the related handling suggestions, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Go to step d. Reset the faulty TRX on the LMT, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Lin k Interrupt Alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Go to step 4.

Check whether the transmission link between the BSC and the BTS is faulty. On the LMT, check whether any of the following transmission-related alar ms are generated: the ALM-4614 ETH Link Alarm, the ALM-11360 MAC Excessive Frame Error Rate, E1/T1-related alarms, or PPP/MLPPP-related alarms. Y => Any of the transmission-related alarms are generated. Go to step b. N => None of the transmission-related alarms is generated. Go to step 5. Clear the transmission-related alarms according to the related handling suggestions, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared . Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Go to step 5. Replace the main control board or the TRX module. Replace the TRX module, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Interru pt Alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Reinstall the removed TRX module, and the n go to step b. Press the RST button to reset the main control board, and then check whe ther the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Go to step c. Replace the main control board, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Reinstall the removed main control board and contact Huawei Customer Service Center. Check whether error codes exist by performing the BIU loopback test. Perform the BIU loopback test on the faulty TRX on the LMT, and then che ck whether error codes exist. Y => Error codes exist. Go to step 8. N => No error codes exist. Go to step b. Stop the BIU loopback test and reset the TRX on the LMT. Then, check whe ther the error codes are corrected. Y => The error codes are corrected. If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required. N => The error codes are not corrected. Go to step 7. Check whether the transmission link between the BSC and the BTS is faulty. On the LMT, check whether the 4714 E1/T1 Local Alarm or the 4716 E1/T1 R emote Alarm is generated at the problem site. Y => Either of the preceding alarms is generated. Go to step b. N = > Neither of the preceding alarms is generated. Go to step 8. Clear the E1/T1 Local Alarm or the E1/T1 Remote Alarm according to the r elated handling suggestions, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared.

Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N = > The alarm is not cleared. Go to step 8. Check whether the signal cable between the DCSU and the DTRB is faulty. Check whether the signal cable between the DCSU and the DTRB is loose. Y => The cable is loose. Tighten the cable. If the TRX LAPD Link Interru pt Alarm is cleared, no further action is required. N => The cable is secure. Go to step b. Check whether the signal cable between the DCSU and DTRB is damaged. Y => The cable is damaged. Replace the cable. If the TRX LAPD Link Inter rupt Alarm is cleared, no further action is required. N => The cable is intact. Go to step c. Check whether there is strong electromagnetic interference around the si gnal cable between the DCSU and the DTRB. For example, strong electromagnetic in terference is generated when signal cables are bound with AC power supply cables or there is magnetic source around signal cables. Y => There is strong electromagnetic interference around the signal cabl e. Eliminate the interference. If the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared, no further action is required. N => There is no strong electromagnetic interference around the signal c able. Go to step 9. Check whether a board is faulty. Remove the DEMU, DGPS, and DATU in the common subrack, and then check wh ether the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. Go to step b. N => The alarm is not cleared. Reinstall all the removed boards, and the n go to step c. Reinstall one board, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm recurs. Y => The alarm recurs. Replace this board and reinstall other boards. If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required. N => The alarm does not recur. Repeat step b. If the alarm is cleared, n o further action is required. Replace the TRX module where the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is genera ted, and then check whether the alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Reinstall the removed TRX module, and the n go to step d. Remove other TRX modules, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Inter rupt Alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. Go to step e. N => The alarm is not cleared. Reinstall all the removed TRX modules, an d then go to step f. Reinstall one TRX module, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Inter rupt Alarm recurs.

Y => The alarm recurs. Replace this TRX module, and then reinstall other TRX modules. If the alarm is cleared, no further action is required. N => The alarm does not recur. Repeat step e. If the alarm is cleared, n o further action is required. Replace the backplane of the TRX subrack, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Reinstall the removed backplane of the TR X subrack, and then go to step g. Replace the DCSU, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Ala rm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Reinstall the removed signal transfer boa rd, and then go to step h. Replace the main control board, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Reinstall the removed main control board, and then go to step i. Replace the backplane of the common subrack, and then check whether the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared. Y => The alarm is cleared. No further action is required. N => The alarm is not cleared. Go to step 10. Check whether the cabinet is grounded properly. Check whether the rack and transmission device are connected to the same grounding bar. Y => The rack and transmission device are connected to the same groundin g bar. Go to step b. N => The rack and transmission device are not connected to the same grou nding bar. Connect the rack and transmission device to the same grounding bar. I f the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared, no further action is required. Check whether the grounding cable is loose, rusted, or thinner than comm on grounding cables. Y => Tighten the cable, remove rust from the cable, or replace the cable . If the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared, no further action is required . N => The grounding cable is normal. Go to step 11. Check whether the transmission cable is grounded properly. NOTE: It is recommended that 120-ohm E1 transmission cables not be grounded. The 75-ohm E1 transmission cables must be grounded in single-end grounding m ode. That is, only one grounding point (including the DDF and other conversion c onnectors) is required for the E1 transmission cable between the BTS and the pee

r transmission device. If the 75-ohm E1 transmission cable is used, check whether there are mul tiple grounding points. Y => There are multiple grounding points. Reground the cable according t o the related handling suggestions. If the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is clea red, no further action is required. N => There is only one grounding point. Go to step b. Check whether the settings of the DIP switch for the DTMU transmission g rounding is inconsistent with the physical settings of the DIP switch. Y = The settings are inconsistent. Reconfigure the DIP switch for the DT MU transmission grounding. If the TRX LAPD Link Interrupt Alarm is cleared, no f urther action is required. N => The settings are consistent.
