Bringing An End To A Rut: A Study Of Morphic Fields Pertaining To

Lived Experience And Locality

by M.G. Van Wagner

This paper involves a twofold study of Rupert Sheldrake's theory of

morphic fields. First it brings to light the principle of morphic fields
pertaining to habits of experience. Secondly, it describes a technique for
eliminating morphic fields that are limiting in their effect.

1.) The Generation Of A Morphic Field:

For a period of time I lived in Atlanta with a floundering business.

during this time, I could only afford run-down vehicles that usually
broke down, requiring repairs. This phase of my life was characterized
by debts, poverty, privation, and lasted about 6 years.

I moved to Florida when a family member became ill and managed to

clear my debts, obtain gainful employment, and maintain a reliable
vehicle. A year or more later, I drove through Atlanta on the way to
New York for a vacation. While driving through Atlanta, the air
conditioner malfunctioned and broke down. I had it fixed when I
returned to Florida.

A year later, I started looking at listings for jobs in Atlanta, focusing my

intention on the prospect of moving back there. My car's air conditioner
broke down that same week, and I dropped the job search.

A year later, I again decided I was ready to move back to Atlanta and
began looking at the Atlanta Newspapers in the library. Within a week
the air conditioner broke down again.

Finally, five years later, after I'd spent a summer in New York and had
come back south as far as Charlotte N.C., I decided to drive a brand new
car to a city about 80 miles outside of Atlanta. Upon arriving at that area,
the transmission began making noises, and I changed course to detour
away from Atlanta. The noise in the transmission then subsided.

The Explanation:

Sheldrake's theory of morphic fields basically describes the process by

which a field of energy gets formed when a pattern of activity or
relationship in experience recurs past a certain threshold of repetition.
Once formed, the morphic field tends to govern and mold the re-
formation of a similar pattern of experience from an unseen level of
energy. Morphic fields can be activated or constellated by strong
intention, or by re-enactment of associated activity.

2.) The Removal Of Morphic Fields

I learned to perform certain Sanskrit hymns that could act as prayers.

They could be directed in the same way as prayers, achieving desired
ends.

I began a series of one Vedic hymn, offering it to remove the speculated

morphic field that characterized my pattern of relationship to Atlanta
relative to owned motor vehicles. I performed the hymn once a day for
two weeks. After I completed the hymns, I was able to return to Atlanta
with no further car problems.

When I found myself again experiencing a phase of chronic poverty some

years later, I performed the hymns to remove the speculated morphic
field of privation and scarcity. I also imbibed the feeling of having
abundance. Within a month of performing this twofold process, I
experienced a great increase in work opportunities and income.
Summary

The theory of morphic fields seems to describe many of the various

realms of human experience characterized by redundancy or habit.
Limiting patterns of experience can be changed by removing morphic
fields through prayer and directed chants characterized by primordial
energy.

Notes:

1.) Gary Schwartz brings to light an interesting principle: that inanimate

inter-related phenomena such as newly synthesized chemical reactions
give evidence of learning curves (systemic memory). It would seem that
this observation lends validation to the Shaivite principle that everything
is Consciousness.

2.) The principle of morphic fields may add an additional consideration to

"manifestation" work.

3.) The principle of morphic fields may also be applicable to problems of

substance abuse and recovery.

4.) The Sanskrit hymns that are recommended by Vedic Astrologers are
the Sahasranama chants.

The author does not claim to represent the work of Rupert Sheldrake or
Gary Schwartz and has expressed his own experiences and descriptions of
morphic fields as he understands them.
