This publication provides the following information on the 4001-9403 and -9404 fire alarm panels: Test points. Circuit board inputs and outputs. (pub no. FA4-
Refer to the 4001-9403 and -9404 Fire Alarm Systems Operating and Installation Instructions 31-001) for details on panel operation and for panel switch settings.
Note: 1 In this publication the term high refers to a voltage reading between 3.5 and 5 volts. Note 2: The 4001-9403 accepts 120VAC as its source; the 4001-9404 accepts 220/240VAC. TEST POINTS
The panel test points are shown in Figure 1 and are listed below.
TEST POINT
GND +5v + 24V BRN OUT PWR TBL VRDC CITY TBL
FUNCTION
This is the OV test point. Provides access to the panels 5 volt bus. Provides access to the panels 24 volt bus. Normally 2OV, drops to 0.8V during an AC brown-out. Normally high, drops to 0.8V when the batteries are low or disconnected. Raw DC (approximately 28V).
Normally high, drops to 0.8V when there is an open on the city lines.
Always read voltage between the desired test point and the GND test point.

Terminal block TB2 interfaces the panel to the signal circuits, 4-wire detectors (if used), and remote acknowledge switch (if used).
TERMINAL
TB2-1
ASSIGNMENT
Connects to the remote acknowledge switch on the remote annunciator. Normally an open circuit (floating); when switch is activated the input is 24VDC @ 2.3 mA. Connects to the + terminal of an external power source. Can be up to SOVDCVAC @ 2A (maximum). Connects to the + wire of the 4-wire detector detectors are being used). power line (if 4-wire
Connects to the - wire of the 4-wire detector power line (if 4-wire detectors are being used) or the OV line of an external power source. Connects to the + wire of the signal circuit. Under normal (non-alarm) conditions the voltage output is 24VDC at 1.8 mA. Under alarm conditions the output is 32V average at up to 2 amps. Connects to the - wire of the signal circuit.
