David Williams - eternal perspective

Eternal perspective 1. It will help us 2. Life gets hard, challenging, EP helps us keep focused 3. Helps us persevere Mat 16:21-27 Peter says, "you're the messiah" but Jesus said dont tell anyone - Peter didn't understand Jesus' mission and how He planned vs how people expected - Jesus' plan was so much bigger than Peter's understanding, miraculously larger than comprehension Jesus began a journey on His way to the cross teaching strange (to them) teachings and talks about His death. Jesus had just moments before, praised Peter, then rebukes satan, moving in Peter. -Peter thinks about "now" and "about me". --American dream influencing Christianity negatively. God has managed eternity, can't he manage our lives? The cross wasn't a pretty image. It was a one way journey to death. It's embracing Gods will, no matter what, or who doesn't understand. The person who tries to hold onto his life, loses it. "I didn't redeem you with silver and gold, there's not enough. I redeemed with blood.

David Williams -Parable of talents --master entrusted each with different amounts ---gave rewards to the faithful ---cast out those who are unfaithful; judgement He entrusted us with our talents -We will be allied to account --Use the masters stuff for the masters purpose Jesus is our master -Created by him -For him -Bought by His blood It's not radical to give your life devoted and given to Him, that's just the expected and reasonable thing to do, it's not above and beyond or extreme Talents, blessings and gifts are for kingdom purposes. Setting up treasures in heaven, sending them ahead. 4 possibilities 1. God may want to use you in your field of study. Secular work. 2. God may use your skills in ways differently than you think, for ministry. 3. God may take you in a radically different way that has nothing to do with our skills or areas of study. The clay doesn't get to question the potter. 4. Jesus wouldn't call anyone who comes into his kingdom wicked. We are made clean by Him. This is someone who doesn't know him. Salvation is grace through faith, for works. Faith without works is dead. We as followers can let things overshadow our master. Idol. We don't go through the white throne judgement, but we do have our works judged, not for salvation though Am I willing to trade the eternal rewards from our master for the temporary esteem from people "He is no fool who gives what he can't keep to gain what he can't make." Paul, poured out like a drink offering... Crown of righteousness.

David Williams Jeremiah 29: Don't seek gods gifts more than god. Don't seek god just when you need his help, seek god for god. It's easy for us to do this. Plans without him don't satisfy him. Heaven wouldn't be heaven without God. When god is our desire for our life, if his will is our aim, will he really let me miss his plan for me? He has plans so far greater than we know, why would he hold that back when we seek him.
