for Change is looking for dynamic and visionary teachers who will engage students, parents, and other members of our learning community to ensure high student achievement. The teacher provides instructional leadership to students and actively participates in and contributes to a collaborative, results-oriented professional learning community. S/he engages community partners and families in serving the whole child and ensuring ALL children achieve at high levels prepared to succeed in any setting. S/he will know how to successfully work in an urban elementary school with a high English Learner and low-income population. About Education for Change Education for Change (EFC) is a charter management organization that manages a diverse portfolio of charter schools in Oakland, California, all of which were district public schools that converted to charter public schools. The mission of Education for Change is straightforward: to provide a superior public education to Oakland's most underserved children by maintaining a system of public schools that relentlessly focuses on academic achievement. The high quality instruction at EFC and its continuous refinement is the key to success for their students. Since its inception, all three EFC schools have experienced substantial API growth. EFC believes that every child has a right to an excellent, high-quality, free public education. Responsibilities Develop and implement effective daily and long-term instructional plans and classroom activities aligned with student needs, California State standards, and EFC and school instructions, goals, and objectives 1 of 2

Provide a classroom climate and learning experiences that further our students social, emotional, physical, and academic development Establish and maintain a positive, safe, and supportive classroom and school environment that values learning and achievement Demonstrate respect and understanding of students and families from diverse backgrounds Assess students regularly Use assessment results and student needs to inform and differentiate instruction Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs; when necessary, refer to appropriate resources, such as health and psychological services Involve students families as partners Collaborate with colleagues and work as a team to achieve shared goals Communicate regularly with students and families about student learning Actively participate in professional development opportunities Maintain accurate student records, including attendance Support the mission, vision, and core values of Education for Change Attend a mandatory new teacher training, tentatively scheduled for 8/13 to 8/17/12

Required Qualifications: Bachelors degree Valid California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential English Language Learner Authorization NCLB Highly Qualified Desired Qualifications: Experience accelerating student learning and achievement in low income communities Spanish language proficiency Compensation & Benefits EFC offers a highly competitive salary in the Bay Area.
