We featured this snazzy little bracelet, excerpted from Robyn Chachulas new book Blueprint Crochet, in our July/August 2008

CROCHET HOOK I Size D/3 (3.25 mm) crochet hook or any size to obtain correct gauge NOTIONS finishing option #1: 2 round pearl buttons, 14"/6mm diameter finishing option #2: 1oz/28.5g fabric stiffener parchment paper paper towels beverage can (or other appropriate wrist mold) 1 jewelry clasp, 12 x 34"/13 x 19mm paper towels

Work now proceeds in rows to form the first side of the cuff. Row 6 (wrong side) Ch 1, turn, sc in same st as join, [ch 3, sk 1 sc, sc in next sc, ch 3, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc] twice, ch 3, sk 1 sc, sc in next sc, sl st in next sc; leave remaining sts unworked6 sc and 5 ch-3 spaces. Row 7 Turn, sk sl st, sl st in next sc, 3 sc in each ch3 space across, sl st in last sc15 sc. Row 8 Turn, sk sl st, sl st in next sc, sc in next sc, [ch 4, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc] 4 times, sl st in last sc5 sc and 4 ch-4 spaces. Row 9 Turn, sk sl st, sl st in next sc, 5 sc in each ch4 space across, sl st in last sc20 sc. how to make a gauge swatch


Make one center flower motif (Rounds 15 below). Resulting gauge swatch should measure approx 2"/5cm. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

1 The center flower motif is worked in continuous rounds, with right side facing; do not turn. 2 The sides of the cuff are worked in rows. 3 The cuff can be finished in two ways; 1) the cuff can be kept soft and a button closure added, 2) the cuff can be stiffened and a jewelry clasp added.

finishing edging
With right side facing, join yarn with sl st in edge of cuff.

Round 1 Work sl st evenly spaced around entire outer edge of cuff. Fasten off. Weave in all ends.

option #2 (stiffened cuff with jewelry clasp closure)


Dip finished piece in fabric stiffener. Pat excess stiffener off with paper towels. Wrap piece around beverage can (or other appropriate wrist mold). Wait until cuff is semi-dry, remove can/mold. Bend ends flat, and set on parchment paper to dry. Sew one end of jewelry clasp to each end of bracelet. I

option #1 (button closure)


Join yarn with sl st in first st of Row 25; sl st in next 3 sts, ch 5 (button loop), sk 1 st, sl st in next 5 sts, ch 5 (button loop), sk 1 st, sl st in next 4 sts. Fasten off. Sew buttons to opposite end of cuff aligned with button loops.
