Red Group: Trenton, Rakya, Maya, Zachary --My reasons: I took their STEP scores as they were the

highest but I also looked at the personalities of the students to see if they would be able to motivate each other. I also took into consideration that Zachary has formed a relationship with Trenton and with knowing him; he will perform his best because he will feel comfortable with Trenton on his group. Purple Group: Sincere, Akeelah, Khalid, Patience --My Reasons: In looking at the data, some of these students could have been in the highest group but their reading comprehension and fluency is what hindered from passing Step 7. So this group is on the same reading level but need to all focus on comprehension at the higher level. Also the new arrangement will help Sincere to shine without being worried about the progress of Alonzo, push Khalid to participate more because the conversations will be more immersed in the text. I know that Patience and Khalid are on the quiet side but I think that Sincere and Akeelah could be a great balance /motivators to each other. Green Group: Lakeisha, Alonzo, Arielle, KiYela --My Reasons: This group was all from the data. Arielle has really made a lot of great progress in her reading and is on level with KiYela, Alonzo and Lakeisha. They are all on the level 6 and struggled with the comprehension. Therefore, this group made sense because they can all get through the reading but the focus needs to be on the comprehension of their level text. Also this group configuration will help Alonzo to work on his reading without the distraction of another boy in the group. I have noticed that he can be a follower at times and will not always to his best if he sees others that are giving up. In

this group, I know that is not an action he was come into contact with. Pink Group: Shyil, Levi, Victoria, Rashay --My reasons: Yes, I moved Rashay down in her groups. I did this because of her Step level and the fact that she refuses to answer any questions about the text. At the high level groups, she would stop their flow on their guided reading groups. Other students have moved up and they worked hard to get there. Victoria, Levi and Shyil are all even Step 5s. Yellow Group: Neveah, Arionna Strickland, Christina, Kendal --My reasons: This group stayed consistent except that Arionna S. has moved up. The reason for her move his based from her Step score as well as her overall reading improvement since the beginning of the school year. I had Arionna and Marcel to switch places because Marcel is not on the same reading level as this group. The other reason has to do with the relationship between Marcel and Kendal. They needed to be separated because they distract each other if they are working in a group together and Kendall is no longer on the same reading level as Marcel. Blue Group: Nekyhi, Anasia, Marcell, Brianna Black Group: Jerrion, Ariyonna Perkins, Kalila -The last two groups are just the lower tier of the classroom based in the data and I had no data on the new girl to compare with the class.
