RMDSTEM signs up as exclusive service provider for CVL Technology in Australia-Pacific region
RMDSTEM will be the exclusive service provider for Continuous Vat Leaching Technology (CVL) in the Asia-Pacific region under an agreement signed with INNOVAT Mineral Processing Solutions Limited (INNOVAT MPS Limited) of Canada. CVL, which was developed by INNOVAT MPS, is a novel leaching technology, suitable for metal recovery from a range of base and precious metal ores and wastes. It can be operated at much smaller scales and with coarser ore feeds than more traditional agitated and heap leaching technologies and therefore has significant capital and operating cost advantages. The agreement is a three-way agreement between INNOVAT MPS, RMDSTEM, and Innovats agent in Australia, Frank Trask. Covering the Asia-Pacific region, RMDSTEM and Mr Trask will undertake all test work, pilot plant trials and feasibility studies and provide design, construction and commissioning assistance with the first plant in Australia. RMDSTEM Executive Director, Ivor Bryan said, CVL provides industry with a real alternative to heap and agitated leaching and also offers significant potential to re-treat old tailings and mineralised wastes. The new partnership provides an exciting opportunity to make a difference to our clients with such opportunities. The agreement has emerged from a very strong relationship over the last four years where RMDSTEM has undertaken extensive test work for clients using INNOVAT MPS test protocols. A single pulsed column test rig designed to test the amenability of the target ore to CVL has now grown to three as client demand has increased. Further developments are also underway. Coupling the CVL technology with the latest paste thickener technology, allowing residues to be co-disposed with coarse material in a stackable stable form is being investigated. The use of bacterial leaching methods with CVL is also being tested. Plans for two Pilot Plant programs are currently scheduled for late 2013. In announcing the agreement Frank Trask, INNOVAT MPS agent in Australia, has commented that with the success in the amenability test work in recent years clients are now looking to pilot the process for their ores. The RMDSTEM-INNOVAT MPS partnership means that the technical capability and experience of both organisations can now be provided as a total package. INNOVAT MPS President, Dan Mackie in signing the agreement has commented that the agreement cements the strong relationship between the two companies over the last 4 years and provides a great opportunity for the technology to be deployed in the Australia Pacific region.
