BUTZ-BUTLER GOLD BARBARA VERY GOOD-89 VEVVE AT 2-10 Breeder: Butz-Hill Holsteins, Iowa and Jeff Butler, Illinois

Owner: Jeff Butler, Don Barry, Illinois and La Ponderosa, Spain Show Results: Unanimous All-American Senior 2-Year-Old 2012 All-Canadian Senior 2-Year-Old 2012 HM Intermediate Champion, Royal Winter Fair 2012 Reserve Intermediate Champion, International Holstein Show 2012
Story: Barbara was born November 2009 the Goldwyn daughter of Shottle Brasilia EX-92 followed by the fantastic Durham Barbie. A proven sire stack and a tremendous type pedigree, Barbara was destined for greatness. She sold as an open heifer in March 2010 to Walkerbrae and Crasdale. Barbara freshened in March 2012 and scored Very Good-87 just 40 days fresh. It was evident that Barbara was a force to be reckoned with and caught the attention of Peter Vail and Budjon Farms selling for $187,000 on the 2012 International Intrigue. Barbara went on to dominate the senior two-year-old class at World Dairy Expo and the Royal Winter Fair and sold back to co-breeder, Jeff Butler. Breeder Comments: Jeff Butler When she sold at the sale [International Intrigue] I thought she for sure would be an All-American nomination. Milksource was in at over $150,000 and Blondin was contender. Peter bought her for $187,000 from his hospital bed in Kankakee, Ill. where he was undergoing tests for heat stress. When I saw her at Expo she had developed more and I was pretty sure she was going to win or had a really good chance of winning. I got a price from Budjon and Peter Vail and informed them I wanted to buy her but needed to wait for my partner to get back from a trip. When he [Don Barry] returned from his trip he agreed to purchase half of Barbara with me.

We went and got Barbara and brought her back to the farm and took her to the Royal where she won an exciting battle in the senior two-year-old class. Before the show, Isaac Lancaster helped secure a deal for one-third selling to La Ponderosa, Spain from Don Barry and myself. Barbara has continued to develop even more and is due to calve back in June of this year. We are very excited about her future. She is one of the rare cows that can be All-American and All-Canadian and still has the great maternal line and high genomics for her age. This will allow us to sell embryos, live females, first choices and bulls out of her.

SAVAGE-LEIGH LEONA EXCELLENT-96 EEEEE Breeder: Christopher Wayne Savage, Maryland Owner: Christopher Wayne Savage, Maryland Show Results: Reserve All-American 125,000 lb. Cow 2012 Grand Champion, Eastern Fall National 2012 Reserve Senior Champion, Eastern Fall National 2011 Nominated All-American and All-Canadian 2010 6th Junior 3-Year Old, International Holstein Show 2008 HHM All-American Junior 2-Year Old 2007
Story: A third generation All-American nominee, Savage-Leigh Leona-ET Excellent-96 EEEEE has the pedigree to back up her impressive resume. Leona was born in March 2005, the Canyon-Breeze Allen daughter of the great Savage-Leigh Licorice Excellent-92 GMD DOM and the tremendous Bellwood Lindas. Breeder Comments: Chip Savage She has always been a standout, as a heifer and when she calved as a two-year-old with a tremendous udder, we knew she was something special. Leona continues to just get better every year maturing into her frame and developing a tremendous rib. She is an easy keeper that loves to milk and eat. Leona is looking like she might be a better brood cow than Licorice but we still need some time to determine that. She currently has VG

daughters in the U.S., Canada and the UK with still a strong demand for embryos worldwide. More than eight daughter have sold over the $20,000 price point and Leona is currently being flushed and will be back on the show circuit in 2013.

sisters from the same cow. Breeder Comments: Winnie is a fantastic young cow, maybe the best for her age of any of the full sisters at the same stage and age of development. Dr. David Chalack, partner at RockyMountain Holsteins further shared that Winnie sold originally through their 2011 RockyMountain High Sale to Wendon Holsteins, Mosnang Holsteins and Orville O.

Schmidt. At Madison we bought 50% back for slightly more than they paid for her. Winnie is bred back for the 2013 show season and due in September.

Very Good-87-CAN 12*. Cherry represents a well-respected maternal line in Canada that also produced Mr Burns and Tribute. Today, OKalibra is owned by GS Alli ance, Switzerland and Pat Conroy of the U.S. Breeder Comments: Pat Conroy - We bought part ownership of her three or four years ago, she was just fresh and a little heavy but extremely balanced with a wide chest and good udder. She wasnt a flashy young cow but had the width and balance to go on and make a great aged cow in my mind. She is unique because she is extremely dairy with adequate strength, which seems to be a rarity these days but also has the udder and the pedigree to go with her. We will probably wait until after the Fribourg show to start flushing and are looking at using Goldwyn and Armani *RC. I would like to sell a first choice from OKalibra in North America and see how that sells; we are selling a Sid heifer from her on Feb. 28 in the Swiss Mountain High Sale. She also has an Acme son at Swiss Genetics and a Sid son at Select Start in Germany.

BONS-HOLSTEINS ELLA 158 EXCELLENT-93 EEEE AT 6-08 Breeder: Bons-Holsteins, Ottolond, NL Owner: Bons-Holsteins, Ottolond, NL Show Results: Grand Champion HHH-Show 2012 HM Intermediate Champion Int. Show Libramont 2010 HM Sr. Champion Hoornaar 2012
Story: 2012 was the year for Bons-Holsteins Ella 158 winning the National HHH-Show, judged by Mark Rueth, Rosedale Genetics, U.S. This beautiful Poly-Kow Durham Mailing daughter comes from an EX-90 Bonatus and stems from multiple generations of homebred cows carrying the Bons Holsteins prefix. The Ellas from Bons have bred several show champions in the past and stand for long-lasting cows with powerful type. The four generations preceding Ella 158 have an average lifetime production of more than 100.000 kg of milk. Breeder Comments: Nico Bons Ella 158 is the current star of the Ellas which is probably our best cow family in the herd. Ella 158 is the highest classified cow in our herd ever at Excellent-93. In her, I see the real pattern in the family, which are late maturing, and perfectly balanced cows that are getting better with age. As a two-year-old she

scored Very Good-88 and we showed her for the first time in her second lactation. Right now she is better than ever and we hope she is back in calf to Atwood, the perfect cross on her right now in my opinion.

RICHAVEN GOLDWYN ADRIENNE EXCELLENT-93-2E EEEE AT 5-03 Breeder: Richard Bown, Worcestershire, UK Owner: Richard Bown, Worcestershire, UK Show Results: Nominated All-Britain 3rd Calver 2012 Reserve All-Britain Senior Second Calver 2011 Senior Champion National All Breeds Show 2012 Senior Champion National All Breeds Show 2011
Story: She scored the maximum score in every lactation and shown very successfully over the last couple of years, she won the Senior Championship at the last two UK National All Breeds Shows. She has Windbrook dtrs in the barn already and her first dtr by Shottle scored VG-87-UK 2yr. Adrienne is due with her fourth by Glauco in August 13 . Breeder Comments: Richard Bown is clear that Adrienne has always stood out in the barn; She has always had that clean cut, rib and extra development since an early age. She now has all the attributes I want in a cow strength with show style, a real silky dairy cow and a great attitude to work with. She lives in with the rest of the cows and is a dream cow to manage she never has an off day, always looking the same from any angle at any time. Visitors to the farm always comment on how good she looks in her working clothes and I cannot em-

phasise enough how easy Adrienne is to work with we never need to do anything with her, a totally natural cow. There is no malice in Adrienne, you can do anything with her and I wish I had more like her.
