Requests/ Suggestions TYPE OF LESSON: Acquisition of new knowledge SKILLS: grammar, writing, speaking, vocabulary OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson the students will be able to: O1: Turn the given sentences into reported speech. O2: Report what a person stated. O3: Complete the phrases using reported speech. O4: Report a dialog. MATERIALS: textbook, whiteboard, handouts. TYPE OF INTERACTION: frontal, individual work. Objectives
Activities Make the necessary arrangements for the class (checking attendance, performing any seating changes, preparing the necessary materials). Students are introduced into the atmosphere of the lesson. The students are asked to read the homework and correct the mistakes if any. Students are informed that the lessons topic is: Reporting commands/ Requests/ Suggestions.

The teacher will tell the students that in order to report commands, instructions, requests or suggestions in reported speech, we use an appropriate introductory verb (ask, order, beg, suggest, tell etc.) and the to-infinitive, -ing form or that- clause, depending on the introductory verb: Stop the car! the policeman said. The policemen ordered him/ her to stop the car.

Students are told to solve exercise 1, page 68.Turn the following sentences into reported speech.

The students are asked to solve the exercise on their handout. First read, then report what the teacher told the students before the exam.

The teacher requires the pupils to solve the exercise written on their other handout. Study the speech bubbles, then complete the sentences below using reported speech, as in the example. The students are asked to read the second exercise from the handout and report the dialog. The teacher sums up and checks to see if all there are any confusions.
