• During Last 37 yrs from August 1972 to April 2009 worked both in Industry as
well as in academics.
• While in industry, did Masters as part timer and PhD on study leave during July
1984-July 1987, while employed with Metallurgical & Engineering Consultants
(India) Ltd.
• 1987-1991 taught Masters students in Power systems, as part time faculty with
Birla Institute Of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, India
• Since April 1995, in full time teaching, except, Feb 1999 to Oct 2000, when
worked in industry on energy management problems. The experience includes
Energy Studies and Engineering, Identification of Energy saving options, Energy
Audit, payback calculations, Energy management.
• Industry experience includes engineering & commissioning of Thermal power
plant station auxiliary electrics and protective relaying systems, station auxiliary
distribution system, large process plant electric power Distribution systems,
engineering of transmission and distribution substations, a Bulk material
handling & charging system for LD converter shop, A 2x30+1x14MW,a 3x67
Mw & a 3x210 MW power plant, a MBF gas based power plant, a number of
industrial power distribution network, DSL system for OH cranes of continuous
casting plant, a gas cleaning plant for an LD steel melting shop. This also includes
conceptual planning of Transmission and in-plant large distribution systems,
commissioning supervision.
• During stay with analytical methods & specialized studies Section of power
system planning division at Ontario Hydro, Toronto, developed coherency
identification routine, which is embedded in electric power research institute’s
system reduction package. Studied the effectiveness of FACTS devices in ENEL
system using ETMSP, MASS and PEALS packages. Developed Code for deriving
equivalence from a number of links for system reduction.
