Speaking for the Brothers

At Detroit Cathedral there came into my life a host of PEOPLE whose generous hearts, congenial disposition and dynamic sense of purpose, supported and helped realize the goals and values that I cherished. To those many folks: THANKS for the memories.

-Roland Moses, formerly Brother Leo, who writes for all the Brothers who were stationed in Detroit.

It was my privilege to serve as principal at Detroit Cathedral High School from 1961 to 1966. Those years were among the most rewarding in my life. The students were friendly and cooperative, the faculty and coaches were easy to work with and the parents, especially through the Mothers Guild and the Dads Club were most supportive and helpful. I cannot forget the generosity of the Archdiocese of Detroit in making the former Kresge Mansion available to the Brothers and remember with special fondness the late Aux. Bishop, Msgr. Joseph Schoenherr, then parish priest of Blessed Sacrament Parish.

Speaking for the Alumni

I look back with great appreciation to all my teachers at Detroit Cathedral HS. Their dedication and willingness to use their special skills truly were very instrumental in the discipline and knowledge that I have been fortunate to be able to develop. It permitted me to live a very productive life with my family, religion and career. I sincerely thank you and may God Bless you for all the good work that you have done. - Robert Griffith , Class of 1964
The Brothers stated mission was To Serve the Working Class. That is precisely what these men from Alfred, Maine did. Our indebtedness to the Brothers continues to grow. We were sons of working class families who were able to obtain a quality education and a faith-filled experience. We have a great sense of gratitude to the Brothers because they gave us something immeasurable under the motto of Deo Soli.

How appropriate this verse is for our wonderful teachers, the Brothers of Christian Instruction: Teach me, my God and King, in all things Thee to see, and what I do in anything, to do it as for Thee.
