Case Study Maasai Communication Company is a new firm which has been established since 2005 for one

target which is to offer communication services and other services related to communication industry. The company has advanced technology, well qualified expatriates and young energetic local personnel in communication engineering. For almost three years from 2005-2008 the company was working hard to investigate on how to enter in the communication industry which by then was dominated by large and powerfully companies like Vodacom, Airtel, Tigo etc. Despite of a stiff competition which exists in this industry, a company recognized important opportunities which have not yet been captured by the current companies in the industry. After investigations and researches the company started to take important preparations such as recruitment of personnel based on their specifications and preliminary issues regarding to launching activities were considered. In 2010 the company decided to enter in the industry after being self satisfied that they are able to operate in these environments. In June, 2010 the company was launched officially with accompaniment of the presence of political figures, Government Officials and a big celebration. During the company inauguration a company chief executive officer has been quoted saying the following words. .Maasai Communication Company is a new hope for small and medium users of communication services, we have planned to offer quality products and services and at a reasonable price while considering customer care, and we are promising consistency customer care practices to our clients Surprisingly, almost two years after a company inauguration, the owners of this company started to complain about high operations costs and unfavorable environments which did not offered an opportunity for the company to grow and to

achieve its mission, vision and targeted objectives. However, these complain were considered as a weak justification on why they failed to exist in the business. Considering these allegations raised by owners of this company, Tanzania Investment Centre spokesmen responded and said, .it is not true that there are unfavorable environments for investors in this industry, for example; 3 prospective customers in this industry according to recent research is 30 Mill people. But the industry captures only 10 Mill people, which is to say, there is a large size of potential market which has not yet been captured or served. He continued, may be these people should tell us the truth on why they failed, instead of looking somewhere to hide their weaknesses Lastly; after few months the company disappeared in the industry and left a lot of jobless people, and no one was ready to believe and to accept that Maasai Communication Company that was launched with a great celebration has gone. Required: As a business analyst your required to review this scenario, then, give your opinion with regards to the following questions: 1. In your opinion but with regards to Tanzanias social, economic and business environments and Telecommunication Industry in particular, what types of investigations or researches and in which areas would have been done in this industry? 2. Indentify likely reasons or factors which led to the failure of this company.

Give your views or suggestions in a nutshell on various marketing strategies which would have been adopted by the company in order to survive
