Brief 6 : Beth Owen Branding and Identity

William Cotterill

-This brief involves designing and crafting the branding for the fashion photographer Beth Owen, with a full range of printed deliverables Including a Look Book, Business cards, Letterheads and camera strap.

-Beth Owen specializes in behind the scenes photography. I questioned and explored and pondered on what behind the scenes actually meant, researching and concluding that it is the idea of a sneak preview, a short glimpse, a peak at something yet to be revealed. -The concept for Beths Identity

will run across all of her deliverables, The concept being a sneak preview or behind the scenes snapshot is equivalent to seeing 30% of something rather than 100%. I calculated this as an angle to remove sections of her logo, the same concept has been used to cut her business cards and look book and will continue

across the deliverables. -By using a serif typeface to show sophistication, a swoop from the O to H and a tail on the Es I tried to keep her branding feminine and elegant. The colour schemes is to represent both her personality and studio work.

-How do you think I can extend my deliverables, is there any other possible outcomes you think I could consider? -Even though current photographs arnt amazing, how do you think I should go about photographing my work for hand in? Can you think of a more interesting setting than a white sheet of A1? -Do you think online material needs to be covered? -Do you think the hide and reveal concept behind my identity works? I need to update my blog with my progress for the work for this, but as it stands I plan on extending this further to create a CV, stamp and embossed portfolio.

Brief 2 : Sigmafly
-This brief involves designing and producing album artwork, branding and packaging for the release of Sigmaflys first E.P with N5DM California. -The album entitled perspectives is to be designed thinking about viewpoints and the notion of one perspective. -The concept for this brief has been built up around looking at naturally occurring waves in light, sound and water exploring the beauty of things that cant be seen with the human eye. This is to reflect the type of music Sigmafly creates; Slow, atmospheric music to relax to. The fluctuations in the waves of light when capturing lense flare using a camera ad laser pen, show broken rays of light in a perfectly balanced series of vibrating circles because of the nature of the laser. The repetitive lines in my opinion represent the state of mine his music puts you in, mellow, psychedelic and repetitive. So far with this brief Ive produced the artwork to be carried across my deliverables by photographing the recurring patterns in lense flare and created the identity for my client. This still needs to be extended alot further.

-I have the content for this brief but no proper deliverables as of yet, this will hopefully unfold in the next couple of days. Again are there any other outcomes you think I could extend my brief with? -Do you think I should use different artwork for each of the four limited edition posters or simply use the same artwork with minor changes? -Out of the different stocks Ive printed samples on which one do you think is the most fitting?
