SVL (Russian abbreviation of high-speed laboratory car) was developed in Kalininsky carriage-building factory in the far 1970. Based on the train model ER22 (the picture below) it was able to move by means of two engines from the passenger jet Yak-40, installed at the front.

During the tests SVL has gained the top speed around 180 mph. For some unknown reason that tests have become the end of its life. Now its rusty fragments still can be found in the territory of Kalininsky factory.

The project of SVL.

Reply John from Kansas says: August 23, 2007 at 2:02 pm No, the SVL should remain in Russia. The restoration could be handled by Rusavia. They have done excellent work on such projects. http://www.airshow.ru/expo/933/prod_2814.htm

Im so happy I left that fucking country ! Reply cynical bastard says: August 23, 2007 at 11:48 am It was a test rig that has served its purpose. Never meant to be a viable proposition. Hell, with the kind of track maintenance you have in Russia, trains derail at lousy 120 kph, as happened to Nevski Express not too long ago. Reply zafarad says: August 23, 2007 at 12:19 pm

Mr bastard, you are right.russia has to overhaul their rail net work.but its not easy, because of their huge rail system.it can`t be so easy as ass fuckingbastard. Reply Pete says: August 23, 2007 at 12:54 pm have you seen the US rail system? I think I can outrun the one by my house on my bike. Dem bitches cant go over 25mph near my old house in Detroit. Those Euro trains are FLYING by me when I saw them. Reply John from Kansas says: August 23, 2007 at 1:02 pm Are you talking about the People Mover? Reply Pete says: August 23, 2007 at 1:59 pm Nope definately not the people mover. Yo someone could make some serious cash on the people mover jackin all the business cats then diving into a 2nd floor abandoned building! Reply John from Kansas says: August 23, 2007 at 2:11 pm And wake up cuffed to a hospital bed if lucky. Reply Clive says: August 23, 2007 at 5:49 pm French TGVs have been using 300 km/h (186 mph) as their standard cruising speed for many, many years now, and theyve recently started to go faster on scheduled routes. Germany has TGV-type trains on its high-speed network. Japan has similarly fast trains, but all designed in Japan they need special characteristics, such as the ability to

stop very fast in the event of an earthquake warning. Even on the UK rail network, famously shabby and run-down, we have 140mph lines. Its a shame the US ran down its rail network in the 1950s and 60s. Trains are so much more civilised, safer, and more economical than aeroplanes but back in the 1930s, some of the fastest train routes in the world were in the USA. The US train rms didnt dare compete in the speed competitions for fear of lawsuits, even back then, so you wont nd em in the record books, but they really *ew*, did trains in the USA back in those days. Those old 1930 steam trains were faster than any trains operated inside the USA today, I gather. Rowland. Reply cynical bastard says: August 24, 2007 at 11:31 am Yeah, and if it WERE going faster, youd be bitching about damn trains shaking your house apart. Reply cynical bastard says: August 24, 2007 at 11:34 am I wouldnt know: never had any experience rebuilding rail systems or buttfucking. I presume youre well familiar with both, since you speak with such authority. Reply zafarad says: August 23, 2007 at 12:07 pm What country??? Reply Pros says: August 23, 2007 at 3:10 pm fucking. See the Americans have had crazy projects too. Reply John from Kansas says: August 23, 2007 at 1:03 pm Thats quite a train layout. Reply Chingau Wei says: August 23, 2007 at 2:35 pm That model sucks. The jet engines are rough and so are the sides of the train near the bottom. However the idea is cool. Reply John from Kansas says: August 23, 2007 at 3:14 pm Please show us one of your models. Reply Chingau Wei says: August 24, 2007 at 5:55 am The beauty of being a critic is you dont have to provide a higher standard of whatever youre criticizing. or would you ask Ebert to show us a better lm than Batman Begins? Reply John from Kansas says: August 24, 2007 at 6:57 am A true critic would have also found something positive to say about the models construction and overall appearance. Ask Mr.Ebert. Reply
