REPORT CARDS Congratulations to our students who have done very well during Term One! WE have seen some very good progress with respect to their abilities in English, however, there is still much work to be done and much improvement to be had. Caution: They will have to work extra hard in the Second Term, as some of the work will increase in difficulty and in the demand of English usage. Be proud of their success!! "PENSION" Thanks to parents who came forward to update their accounts thru November. This helps us to run the school more efficiently and maintain our standard of education for your children. If you have not addressed your November payment, please see us ASAP. Parent - Teacher Meetings Friday Nov. 16th

"DISCOVER MOROCCO WEEK!"

For 3 days (Nov. 21, 22, 23), each homeroom will be presenting a theme related to this wonderful African country. Students did not know where Morocco was nor did they know how many countries are in Africa. Many people do not. Several African countries are becoming more modernised and also becoming bigger players on the world scene. On Friday Nov. 23rd, parents are invited to come and visit the rooms at 1 pm until about 2 pm to DISCOVER MOROCCO!

There will be no classes on this day, however, students are expected to come to school with their parents, to meet the teachers. Student will present some of their work to their moms and dads. You should already know what time you need to meet. If not please contact the homeroom teacher of your child. See you Friday!

Pillars of GOOD Character!

Students have been working on being CARING and being RESPONSIBLE which also means, at times, being RESPECTFUL. Students are still working on being TRUSTWORTHY.

Are you talking to your children about being trustworthy? Are they doing some tasks at home to make them more independent and responsible?

WHAT WORLD RELIGIONS ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH?

"DIWALI" - Festival of lights for the Hindus (This started 2 days ago is ends tomorrow)

Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, is the most popular of all the festivals from South Asia.

It is also an occasion for celebration by Jains and Sikhs.

The festival of Diwali extends over five days. Because of the lights, fireworks and sweets involved, it's a great favourite with children. The festival celebrates the victory of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance, although the actual legends that go with the festival are different in different parts of India. The Times of India summed up the modern meaning of Diwali: Regardless of the mythological explanation one prefers, what the festival of lights really stands for today is a reaffirmation of hope, a renewed commitment to friendship and goodwill, and a religiously sanctioned celebration of the simple - and some not so simple - joys of life. Times of India editorial Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/hinduism/holydays/diwali.shtml Deepawali or Diwali is certainly the biggest and the brightest of all Hindu festivals. It's the festival of lights (deep = light and avali = a row i.e., a row of lights) that's marked by four days of celebration, which literally illumines the country with its brilliance, and dazzles all with its joy. Each of the four days in the festival of Diwali is separated by a different tradition, but what remains true and constant is the celebration of life, its enjoyment and goodness.
