Training Overview

HCI-001 (Basic 1 day), HCI-001 A (Basic and Advanced 2 day)

One day Basic Emotional First Aid. This course is intended to train key personnel to provide quick
direct crisis intervention for other employees and families. The literature states that early
intervention is the first line of defense for prevention of psychological disorders. When early
intervention is applied, the entity traditionally has less lost time due to illness, a reduction in
mistakes, and an increase in efficiency. This is a straight forward two day course open to anyone
with a high school education (equivalent) or above. No license or certification is required.

HCI-002

One day course dealing with Compassion Fatigue. Compassion Fatigue, first identified by Charles
Figley, Ph.D. is what happens to any care giver or responder who deals with tragedy or disaster on a
regular basis. Suitable for first responders, counselors, Chaplains, teachers, or others. Identifies
compassion fatigue, how to spot it in self and others, how to deal with it or prevent it. Suitable for
anyone who provides first person services.

HCI-003

One day course intended for Incident Command key staff. Teaches how to recognize
Stress and reactions in self and others and how to deal with those persons on team who are under
stress. Practical and helpful. A must for keeping Incident Command emotionally healthy.

HCI-004

One day on site evaluation of organization as to ability to respond to employees, family, or


community in the event of tragedy or disaster. The literature states that early intervention is the first
line of defense for prevention of psychological disorders. When early intervention is applied, the
entity traditionally has less lost time due to illness, a reduction in mistakes, and an increase in
efficiency. Includes written evaluation with recommendations.

HCI-005

Homeland Crisis Institute staff is well versed in emotional trauma, traumatic stress reactions, PTSD,
and a host of other issues that would challenge the psychological health of most anyone. Contact us

HCI-006

Emergency Deployment of Professional Crisis Intervention Team. (PCIT) There are times with
disaster strikes and local resources are over overwhelmed. HCI can deploy a team of intervention
specialists who can provide intervention and later training to protect employees, and entire
communities from developing long term problems.
