Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University was established in the year 2008 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh at Visakhapatnam through Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University Act, 2008 to impart quality legal education. The University was recognized under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 and by the Bar Council of India. The University commenced its academic activity from the academic year 2009-10 by offering 5 Year Integrated B.A.LL.B (Hons.), Ph.D and LL.D programs. From the academic year 2010-11, the admission into 5 year Integrated B.A.LL.B (Hons.) program is through CLAT merit order. (For the academic year 2013-14, students have to apply separately to the University. Applications shall be downloaded from www.dsnlu.ac.in and sent to the Registrar, DSNLU). The students of the University are from different socio-economic and cultural backgrounds across the country. The academic programs are designed to provide intensive training and

exposure to various aspects of legal studies. Students are exposed to legal learning through various methods including group discussions, seminar presentations on chosen topics in consultation with the faculty concerned apart from rigorous examination process. The curricular activities are inter-twined with attending Moot Court Competitions, quiz programs, parliamentary debates, participation in seminars, conferences and workshops conducted by various Universities and National Law Schools. The students of the University also undertake summer and winter internship with the judiciary, law firms, members of the bar, quasi-judicial institutions and NGOs and gain hands on experience and expertise in the legal field.

The University is in the process of constructing state-of-the-art and ecofriendly campus at Asakapalli, Sabbavaram. Presently, the University functions from fully-air conditioned leased premises. The students are provided with world class library including online database like, Westlaw journals and Manupatra, Internet, WiFi and LAN facility. All the class rooms are equipped with LCD projectors, internet and public address system. A dedicated seminar and conference hall are made available for conducting meetings and organizing guest lectures. The University power requirement is supported by 125 KVA generator. The University is a part of National Knowledge Network and the Government of India provided 1GBPS connectivity to the University free of cost and commissioning is in its final stage. The University has established the Counselling and Mediation Centre (CMC) during the academic year 2012-13. The University has the credit of being the first National Law University to enter into MOUs for student exchange programs with other National Law Universities at Bangalore, Kolkatta, Patna and Patiala. The

University is introducing 1 year LL.M programme in Maritime Law and 4 year LL.B., LL.M (Dual Degree) programmes from the academic year 2013-14. The University is determined to maintain the standards of quality legal education.
