In 1938 the company was founded by engineer Erwin Halder in order to produce the Simplex Soft Face Mallet. What once started in a small mechanical workshop has developed to a worldwide operating company having approx. 200 employees at five different sites. Replacing the nylon inserts on non-rebound Supercraft Mallets:
Replacing
Supercraft inserts
1. Clamp the worn nylon insert firmly in the vice and pull the hammer off upwards.
2. With the hammer in the vice, press the new inserts on to the insert retaining pegs.
Replacing the Hickory handle on non-rebound Supercraft Mallets:

Supercraft handles
1. Saw the handle off flush with the handle protective sleeve.
2. Use a punch to drive the spring cotter pin out. The spring cotter pin can be reused.
3. Fully remove the rest of the wooden handle in the protective sleeve by drilling out.
4. Position the replacement handle complete with aluminium wedge in the protective sleeve and then press/knock the handle in.
5. Using a 3.8 mm diam. bit, drill through the handle via the specified hole in the handle protective sleeve.
6. Drive in the spring cotter pin until it is flush.

Safety instructions:
We have been manufacturing top quality soft face mallets for professional users in trade and industry for over 70 years. Our soft face mallets have proved themselves a million times over in practical use and are highly sophisticated. Halder Soft Faced Mallets symbolize quality, reliability and safety in use. To reduce the risks for the user and for other people in the same working area, the following safety instructions must be observed when working with our soft face mallets:
Safety
1. We recommend that you wear suitable protective clothing (e.g. protective gloves, safety eyewear) when working with soft face mallets. 2. When striking with soft face mallets, maintain an adequate safety distance to other persons and objects. 3. When striking heat-treated workpieces, always use a soft face mallet with plastic inserts. 4. Only use a soft faced mallet for the purpose for which it is intended. Avoid jarring blows and only use the striking faces of the hammer, never the side of the housing. 5. Select the appropriate hammer weight and diameter with regard to the work to be performed. 6. Before every use, check that the components of the soft face mallet are properly aligned and tightened. 7. Never use a hammer with chips or burrs on the striking face. Worn replaceable parts (replacement inserts, wooden handles) must be replaced. 8. On warranty and safety grounds, only use Original Halder Replacement Parts for Halder Soft Faced Mallets. 9. Follow the fitting instructions on page 22 when fitting Simplex replacement parts. 10. Never strike one hammer against another. 11. Make sure that the soft face mallet is carefully maintained and properly stored after use.
