US 1 double pointed needles (or size needed to obtain gauge) US 2 double pointed needles

Begin Decreases.
Row 1: k1, ssk, seed stitch next 12 stitches, k2tog, k2, ssk, k12, k2tog, k1. (32 sts) Row 2: k2, seed stitch 12 sts, k to end. Row 3: k1, ssk, seed stitch 10 sts, k2tog, k2, ssk, k10, k2tog, k1. Stitch Guide
Seed stitch: Row one: *k 1, p 1. Repeat from * across. Row two: *p 1, k 1. Repeat from * across.

Directions
Cast on 36 stitches. Divide stitches evenly on smaller dpns. Join in the round, being careful not to twist your sts, and [k1, p1] around for 12 rows. Changing to larger needles, k2, pm, seed stitch for next 14 sts, pm, k to end. Continue knitting in the round, working 14 sts between markers in seed stitch pattern for next 15 rows, removing marker in the last row.

Finishing
Cut yarn and thread through remaining stitches. Pull yarn end to close hole and secure on inside of hat. Weave in ends.
