Awakening a Love for Christ in the Heart of Richmond
May 26, 2013 Trinity Sunday 10:55 a.m.
One: O God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; Many: My flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. One: So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, Many: beholding your power and glory. One: Because your steadfast love is better than life, Many: My lips will praise you. One: So I will bless you as long as I live, Many: I will lift up my hands and call on your name. One: My soul is satisfied as with a rich feast, Many: And my mouth praises you with joyful lips One: When I think of you on my bed Many: And meditate on you in the watches of the night; One: For you have been my help, Many: And in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy!
HYMN 356 (Blue Hymnal) Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Nettleton
Most gracious and merciful God, we confess to you and to one another that time after time we have entered your presence with countless prayers but with hearts that have been closed to your grace. We have lifted our hands to you in praise, but our feet have still walked in the ways of evil. We have rehearsed your commandments but have refused to see your face in the needs of our neighbor. We pray, Lord, that you forgive our lack of faith and pardon our acts of injustice. Grant us the healing that comes from abiding in Christ and the cleansing that comes from your all-powerful Word. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

So I returned and did consider all the oppressions done beneath the sun. And there was weeping and wailing of those that were oppressed, and had no comfort; for with their oppressors there was power, so that no one came to comfort them. Then I did praise the dead which are already dead yea, more than the living which still in life do linger. Yea, he that is not is better than dead or living; for he doth not know of the evil that is wrought for ever on earth. Ecclesiastes, IV.
