Concerts begin at 6 p.m. with food and refreshments available at 5:30 p.m. 3-4 Delphos Kiwanis July 4th Celebration in Stadium Park, Delphos The Delphos Kiwanis Club invites area families to Stadium Park to kick-off this years Independence Day celebration. On Thursday, the Kiwanis invite area families to Stadium Park to continue the Independence Day celebration. In addition to food, rides and entertainment, there will be a fishing derby and a softball tournament and the day will conclude with a fireworks display at 10 p.m.

14 Delphos Rotary Concert Series at 6 p.m. in Stadium Park, Delphos This weeks concert brings the Berlin Brothers to the park stage. The Berlin Brothers are three professional, seasoned musicians with many years of experience between them. They have built a great song list of acoustic rock and blues favorites - everything from the Beatles to Zeppelin; songs from the 60s to songs on the radio today. Stadium Park is located at 1000 Park Avenue in Delphos. Refreshments will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m.

In celebration of the 100th birthday of the Lincoln Highway, a caravan of Model A Fords from California will be passing through Van Wert County on their way to New York City. The members come from Van Wert, Elida, Lima, Delphos, Convoy, Payne, Chat, Middle Point, Decatur and Rockford. It truly is a Van Wert area band. Retired Parkway Band Director Richard Sherrick directs the band. 13-14 Railroad Heritage Weekend at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds The Van Wert County Historical Society commemorates the significance of the railroad in the settlement and development of Northwest Ohio. Model train layouts, including O/HO/N gauge, will be on display as will other railroad memorabilia. Other special events include speakers, a swap meet, good food, and a Hobo Camp complete with Hobo Stew. Times are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. 8th Annual Summer Gospel Concert at 4 p.m. at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds The recently constructed Gospel Pavilion at the Van Wert County Fairgrounds will be the site of this years annual Summer Gospel Concert. Several Gospel artists are scheduled to appear also. July 13-Aug. 24 Fiely-Paskiet Exhibit at the Wassenberg Art Center, Van Wert This exhibit features the works of two exceptional artists - Doug Fiely and Matthew Paskiet. Doug Fiely is a diversified artist. Though educated as a printmaker and holding an MFA in the medium, he is also an avid painter. He has won numerous local, regional and national awards dating back to his first juried show in 1969. He is represented in Florida, Ohio and Connecticut galleries and has sold works from New Yorks Fifth Avenue to the mountains of Aspen, Colorado. Operating a home studio and galley in northwestern Ohio, he remains prolific in a variety of mediums. This exhibit will present several of Fielys prints. Matthew Paskiet will display his blown glass creations in the front galleries. You will see amazing glassblowing techniques employed by Matt.

Matt studied and worked for world-renowned glass artist Dale Chihuly in Italy and the experience shows in his finely executed detail and color. Matt has work displayed in the permanent collections of the Toledo Museum of Art and numerous other areas throughout the nation. 14 Delphos Rotary Concert Series at 6 p.m. in Stadium Park, Delphos This weeks concert brings the Berlin Brothers to the park stage. The Berlin Brothers are three professional, seasoned musicians with many years of experience between them. They have built a great song list of acoustic rock and blues favorites - everything from the Beatles to Zeppelin; songs from the 60s to songs on the radio today. Stadium Park is located at 1000 Park Avenue in Delphos. Refreshments will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. 18 Rebecca Pronsky Concert at 9 p.m. at the Black Swamp Bistro, Van Wert Rebecca Pronsky is a noted singer-songwriter from Brooklyn, New York. Her musical style is best described as a combination of folk, jazz, and country elements. 19-21 45th Annual Ohio City Lambert Days in Ohio City The second of the Van Wert County village celebrations begins today in Ohio City. In 1891, John Lambert built the first gasoline-powered friction driven automobile in the United States. While he may not get the national recognition he deserves, his hometown celebrates his contribution each summer with this festival. Fridays activities include a steak dinner at 4 p.m. followed by kids games, a WiffleBall home run derby, a singles horseshoe tournament and Monte Carlo night with Texas Hold-Em. At dusk there will be an outdoor kids movie. On Saturday, the festival continues with a mens slow pitch softball and co-ed volleyball tournament. Other athletic activities will include WiffleBall tournaments, a doubles horseshoe tournament and a 4-mile run. The evening will conclude with a dance. July 19-20 Delphos Car Show from 6-9 p.m. in downtown Delphos This 2-day event sponsored by the Delphos Area Car Club opens with a cruise-in downtown on Main Street in Delphos. Fountain Park Concert Series at 7 p.m. in Fountain Park - Van Wert Minute By Minute is a tribute band dedicated to the Grammy-award winning music of the Doobie Brothers. This free concert is sponsored by the Van Wert County Foundation. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket for comfortable seating. Activities include midway rides, livestock and agricultural exhibits, youth programs, harness racing in front of the grandstand, daily entertainment, and much more. SEPTEMBER 1 Gymanfa Ganu at 7 p.m. at Venedocia Salem Presbyterian Church, Venedocia The Gymanfa Ganu is the biggest event of the year in Venedocia. People from all over Ohio and from many other states swell the village to several times its usual population as they pack into the Salem Presbyterian Church to sing in four part harmony. The church literally thunders with hundreds of voices praising the Lord with English and Welsh language hymns. 6-8 Hot Air Festival at Van Wert County Fairgrounds & County Airport After a 12-year hiatus, the ever so popular and successful Hot Air Affair returns to Van Wert as the Hot Air Festival. Those who look forward to annual haunts will have the usual attractions to patronize this year, including a D.A.R.E. fundraiser. Along with the Van Wert Community Club, the sheriffs department will once again turn the woods near the Van Wert County Hospital into a place of terror. This years event threatens to be even more dreadful than in the past. Attractions include a haunted bridge, a spider-infested area and more frightful attractions. Admission is $8 per person (or $7 with a canned food item). For families who would like to come to the Haunted Woods, a Family Friendly Path will be offered (without all the spooks and ghouls) for $2 per person.
