PREAMBLE 1) The Bill of Quantities shall be read in conjunction with the Instructions to Bidders, General Conditions of Contract, Conditions of Particular Application, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Schedules and Annexure. 2) The quantities given in the Bill of Quantities are estimated and provisional and are given to provide a common basis for bidding. The basis of payment will be the actual quantities of work ordered and carried out, as measured by the Contractor and verified by the Engineer and valued at the rates and prices tendered in the priced Bill of Quantities, where applicable, and otherwise at such rates and prices as the Engineer may fix within the terms of the Contract. 3) The rates and prices bid in the priced Bill of Quantities except insofar as it is otherwise, provided under the Contract, include all constructional plant, labour, supervision, materials, all temporary works and false works, erection, maintenance, establishment and overhead charges, profit, foreign taxation and levies, local levies and other charges, together with all general risks, liabilities and obligations set out or implied in the Contract and including remedy of any defects during the Defects Liability Period. 4) The rates and prices shall be quoted entirely in Indian Rupee. 5) The rate or price rounded off to the nearest Indian Rupee shall be entered against each item in the Bill of Quantities both in figures and words, whether quantities are stated or not. The cost of items against which the Contractor has failed to enter a rate or price shall be deemed to be covered by other rates and prices entered in the Bill of Quantities. 6) The whole cost of complying with the provisions of the Contract shall be included in the items provided in the priced Bill of Quantities, and where no items are provided, the cost shall be deemed to be distributed among the rates and prices entered for the related items of work. 7) General directions and descriptions of work and materials are not necessarily repeated or summarized in the Bill of Quantities. References to the relevant sections of the contract documentation shall be made before entering rates or prices against each item in the Bill of Quantities. 8) The method of measurement of completed work for payment shall be in accordance with the requirements as stated in the individual sections of the Technical Specifications. 9) Errors will be corrected by the Employer for any arithmetical errors in computation or summation as follows:

a) where there is a discrepancy between amounts in figures and in words, the amount in words will govern; and b) where there is a discrepancy between the unit rate and the total amount derived from the multiplication of the unit price and the quantity, the unit rate as quoted will govern, unless in the opinion of the Employer, there is an obviously gross misplacement of the decimal point in the unit price, in which event the total amount as quoted will govern and the unit rate will be corrected. 10) This BOQ covers all concrete works, including fencing and gates.

3 Preparing the surfaces of the frames of the steel surfaces of and painting with two coats of epoxy paint of approved colour, shade over one coat of primer including all labour, scaffolding, brushes, materials etc all complete. Providing and fixing formwork using plywood/wooden planks or steel sheets including necessary centering for alignment and levels for foundation concrete, beams, fencing posts, gate pillars etc., including strutting, shoring, bracing, propping, staging etc, keeping the same in position during the concreting and removal of the same after a specified period etc complete as per drawing and specifications and /or as directed at site including the cost of all materials, shuttering oil, labours, transportations & proper stacking at site, tools, equipment, lead, lift, etc complete. Note: a) The shutter should be cleaned before each use if re-useable shutter are used. b) The shutter to be used should give good surface finish. c) Distorted shutters will be made good at once before put to use to the satisfaction of EPL. d) The rate includes coating formwork with approved quality of non-staining mineral oil.
