The Set-up Unit Goals:
Pupils will be recapping on basic parts of computer and its functions. They are also able to develop their ICT skill, writing skill, reading skill as well as communication skill. Learning Objectives: • Able to identify different types of hardware such as camera, keyboard, mouse system units and etc. • Able to discuss the functions of each hardwares during oral questioning in ICT term more than 65% correctly. • Able to contribute ideas during discussion with peers during group work’s exercise. Materials: PCs, Interactive Whiteboard (IWB), internet connection. The Lesson The Hook: Teacher will point out different types of computer hardware available around the computer laboratory before begin the PowerPoint Presentation to 1. Set induction measure how much they know about the functions of the computer devices. This (3 minutes) will be like a brain-teaser for them to contribute their new ideas and pupil’s assessment on previous knowledge. Exploration: • During PowerPoint Presentation, teacher will show them several computer hardwares with different sizes, colour and feature. For example, teacher 2. Lesson will include both mouse with USB cable and wireless mouse. The objective Development 1 of this is to make these pupils get familiar with different brands -Presentation- specification of each hardwares. Computer’s monitor also comes with (10 minutes) different varieties nowadays with more technological features such as flat- screen and like a size of LCD monitpor. • Practise: Pupils will go back to their computer and given step-by-step instructions throughout the classroom activity. They will need to find a folder called ‘16 Feb 2009’ on the computer desktop. They will develop 3. Lesson their critical thinking as well as reading and writing skills in order to development 2 complete the exercise. They will be doing this in pairs where they can (10 minutes) brainstorm and discuss the answers before making a decision. The pupils are also assessed on how they save their work after accomplishing the 4 questions. Summary: Transfer and synthesize current knowledge to a new learning of technologies. On previous lesson, they know basic functions of hardware. Today, they need to write in complete sentences by typing up the answers on the installed MS Words. They also learn on how to save their complete work independently. The Closure Application: Student will learn on how to save MS Words documents on their (2 minutes) pendrives.
