ABSTRACT
This document is meant for describing all the features and procedures that were followed while developing the system. This document specially mentions the details of the project how it was developed, the primary requirement, as well as various features and functionalities of the project and the procedures followed in achieving these objectives. Attendance System forms the lifeline of the University to manage the Employee and its salary. It is very essential for University to handle the Salary and their scale. It is very useful for University to test its employee attendance continuously for their mutual development. The Attendance System will include various parts (Salary, Employee Entry, Salary Scale Entry, etc.) for conducting salary Sheet. This system helps in conducting Attendance quickly and can thus help in saving time and the operations will be carried out efficiently. With the effective use, any University can apply the Attendance Management System for conducting quick attendance and getting better results in less time.
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF ORGANIZATION
Dilla University was established in 1996 as the Dilla College of Teachers' Education and Health sciences (DCTEHS). Dilla University is located in the Southern Nations Nationalities and Peoples regional state in an area widely known for its coffee production (Gdeo Zone). At the beginning there were only two faculties: Faculty of Education and Faculty of Health Sciences. Currently, Dilla University sprang up to a full-fledged and a fully accredited government university hosting students under five faculties.Currently,the University has ten Schools and Postgraduate studies for chemistry, physics, Biology and Geography. Dilla University has a total of three hundred nineteen academic staff members: among whom 15 are Assistant professors, 145 Lecturers, 25 Assistant lecturers, 108 Graduate assistants and 26 technical assistants.Beginning from its inception in 1999 the institute has graduated 8,076 graduates; out of which 4,262 are in regular program, and in the summer and extension programs it has graduated 2,484 and 1,330 graduates respectively. Dilla University has also launched the Institute of Indigenous studies, which is the first of its kind in our country. The institute has a mission to conduct researches on areas of indigenous knowledge, cultural heritage, history, indigenous resource management and preservation of endangered language.From the beginning until now dilla university use manual system to take attendance of students and employees.to eliminate paper work of taking attendance we are developing software to minimize loss of paper. Attendance Management System is software developed for daily student attendance in schools. It facilitates to access the attendance information of a
particular Employee in a particular industry. The information is sorted by the operators, which will be provided by the employee for a particular working day. This system will also help in evaluating attendance eligibility criteria of employee.
1.4.2 LIMITATION
The system is only concerned with Attendance System only. The new system does not deal with: Storing detailed information of the instructors and assistances (such as specialization and other related information rather than name of the instructor and assistance ) Student related data such as students grade report, students status (failed or pass), students name etc. Online Attendance system
to generate the report automatically at the end of the session or in the between of the session.
2.2 Tools
We will also use the following tools object oriented software engineering approach for analysis and design Tools - Microsoft Visual Studio.NET 2008 Database- Microsoft SQL server 2000
