Various types of companies providing cellular phone facilities in TVM District

According to COAL (Cellular Operators Association of India) rates till the mobile phone customers in Kerala is more than 10 lakhs. Escotal was the first company to launch the service is Kerala in April 1997 with 3530 consumers. Then BPL, Reliance, Airtel, BSNL, followed. According to the current rates of COAL, BSNL mobile have the leading number of customers in Kerala. The major mobile phone services in India are identified as Airtel, BPL, Idea, reliance, BSNL, MTNL etc. among these BPL, Reliance, BSNL, idea and Airtel are competing with each other.

BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited)


On October 1, 2000 the department of Telecom operations, Govt. of India became

a corporation and was christened Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Today, BSNL is the No.1 Telecommunication company and the largest public sector undertaking of India covering 35 million telephone connections continues to serve the nation with latest digital switching technology. Even with its vast customer base they were able to instill confidence among its customer with the expansion of telecom network, introduction of new telecom service in all villages. Cell one is the post paid services of BSNL. Excel is the prepaid service of BSNL. It offers you a host of value added service and all India roaming facility is also available on Excel services.

Escotel Mobile Communication Limited (EMCL)


EMCL is a joint venture of Escorts Limited one of the leading houses in India and

The Aircel group is a joint venture between Maxis Communications Berhad of Malaysia and Sindya Securities & Investments Private Limited, whose current shareholders are the Reddy family of Apollo Hospitals Group of India, with Maxis Communications holding a majority stake of 74%. BSNL
Evolution of the Organization in Kerala BSNL's Cellular Mobiles Service was launched in the circle on 23.10.2002 covering most of the major cities and towns along with 2112kms of highway in the initial stage and connections are provided both prepaid (Excel) and post paid (Cell one). The initial plan comprises are 247 BTS sites which include 183 cities and 64 highway BTS sites. The network comprises of two MSC locations at Ernakulum and Trichur and 6 BSC locations at Trivandrum , Kottayam, Ernakulum, Trichur, Kozhikode and Kannur. The cellular mobile project for Kerala Circle envisages a subscriber base of 326585 in two phases with first phase comprising of 125000 lines and second phase comprising of 201585 lines
