Lab 8 : Fitness Test (HELMAS) OBJECTIVE

This experiment is carried out to investigate or to determine the fitness level of members among our group. Different people will have different level of fitness, by using standard calculation by software, comparison can be made.

INTRODUCTION

People who make physical activities and exercise as a part of their daily routines when they are young in age are more likely to keeping it as a habit as they grow older. EQUIPMENTS
1. Computer installed with HELMAS software 2. Card reader 3. Measurement Equipments a. HELMAS Sargent Jump equipment b. HELMAS Stretching c. HELMAS Reaction Equipment d. HELMAS Backbone Strength Measurement Equipment e. HELMAS Sit Up Measurement Equipment f. Weight Balance with height measurement

Procedure
1. Basic body composition measurement are being done which including measurement of the body weight and height of members by using weight balance with high measurement. The basic data are written down and to be used in step 4. 2. The computer which installed with HEMAS software are turned on and HELMAS software are started. Before entering the member s personal data, the basic settings of the software had to be make sure is correct. 3. As follow the instructions, members are required to fill the personal information in the softwares Membership Management dialog box. 4. The body composition type data that acquired from step 1 are typed into the dialog box as mention in step 3. By storing the data into the HELMAS card reader, it is now named and can be used on the HELMAS measurement equipments. The reading for each physical fitness test will be stored inside the HELMAS card reader. 5. Group members now can start their physical fitness test. 6. After finishing doing each test, the data for each test are imported from the card reader into the software. 7. Physical fitness factor and the Total physical fitness can be evaluated from Evaluation dialog box. 8. The results are saved into pendrives.

DISCUSSIONS
1. After doing the exercise, we can get the result from the computer. The software will show each of our member s physical fitness status. From the data gained, we able see that among three of the members, there are some common and also differences. By comparison,

2. Body Mass Index(BMI) also known as Quadret Index. BMI is defined as the individuals body weight (kg) divided by the square of height (m). By referring to the range of BMI, we can conclude each person into the categories of underweight , normal, overweight , and obese. It is very important to keep our BMI value in the range of normal as to ensure we are healthy. This is because obesity and overweight will increased the risk of getting various diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension, Respiratory problem, Arthritis and others.

CONCLUSION
For conclusion, we can conclude that marks calculate by the HELMAS software is 60 marks for three of the members. This shows that members do not frequently

practice exercise in their daily life. They have high chances of getting injuries while doing exercise. Thus, the software had suggested them continuously do some exercise such as swimming, badminton, cycling and chinning exercise at a proper intensity, which is 40-70% for 30 to 40 minutes. While for the BMI, two of the members are fall in the normal range and one of the members is in the range of overweight. This shows that, members of this group still need to exercise frequently as to maintain and also to ensure that they are healthy always.
