Report on CIAPE 2012

Part I: Expo Profile


China International Auto Parts Expo (CIAPE) 2012 was successfully held in China International Exhibition Center (Old Venue) in Beijing from Oct. 26 th to 28th, 2012, attracting 1,483 exhibitors and 51,830 trade visitors from over 122 countries and regions around the world. As the only national platform of international auto and auto parts expo, CIAPE has played an important role in enlarging the domestic demand, attracting foreign investment and promoting export. CIAPE has established an efficient communication bridge for auto parts suppliers and buyers all over the world, and has provided a free and professional channel for the automotive companies to release new products, acquire information about new technology, trends and policies.

1. CIAPE is the first professional auto expo in China which covers the whole automotive industry chain.
The 6th CIAPE attracted 1,483 quality exhibitors from the automotive industry clusters of 25 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions and the 12 national automobile and auto parts export bases in China, as well as enterprises from the USA, Germany, South Korea, India, Taiwan China etc. It is the first professional expo that covers the whole automotive industry chain in China. The management, purchasing, R&D personnel from world renowned automotive enterprises such as General Motors, Ford, Benz, BMW, Hyundai, FAW, Dongfeng, Great Wall Auto, Chery, Geely, Yutong, Higer, Bosch, Denso, Delphi, Continental, Toyota Boshoku, BorgWarner etc gathered at the expo. They displayed, introduced

and exchanged their ideas on their state-of-the-art products, advanced technology and sophisticated management philosophy.

2. India participated in CIAPE 2012 as the Partner Country


India, one of the BRICs, participated in the CIAPE 2012 as the Partner Country for the first time. The Indian government has attached great importance to the expo. Led by the Minister of Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India and the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), more than 200 people from over 80 large Indian auto parts enterprises attended the expo as exhibitors, and a delegation of senior entrepreneurs and buyer delegation visited the expo. India-China Business & Cooperation Seminar and the Indian Show were held during the expo. The Indian delegation spoke highly of CIAPE 2012. According to them, through CIAPE, Indian enterprises have successfully displayed their HR management system, production capacity, technology and products. The show has further strengthened the trade and economic ties between the two countries, promoted the communication and cooperation in their auto industry and the industry upgrade.

3. Global sourcing events demonstrated the effect of the expo


Besides China International Auto Parts Development Summit Forum, known as the Thinktank Forum in Chinas auto parts industry, CIAPE held numerous global sourcing events and matchmaking meetings to help exhibiting enterprises to promote their products and technology, and to help the international clients better understand the market demand, products and technology of Chinas auto parts industry. For example, CIAPE has cooperated with Gasgoo to arrange around 100

matchmaking meetings during the show. CIAPE has worked with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to hold the India-China Business & Cooperation Seminar. AIAG Auto Parts Purchasing Leadership and Suppliers Forum was held by CIAPE and Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG). During the forum, attendees discussed the hot issues, development status and trends of the global automotive industry, providing value-added services to the exhibitors and trade visitors.

4. Auto manufacturers visited the expo in large delegations which received warm welcome at the expo

Purchasing, technical and R&S personnel from over 100 auto manufacturers from both China and abroad have visited CIAPE 2012, which were highly welcomed by the exhibitors and purchasers. According to the statistics, over 3,000 purchasing, technical and R&S personnel from auto manufacturers such as VW, Benz, GM, BMW, Ford, FAW, SAIC, Dongfeng, Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co., Ltd.(BAIHC), China National Heavy Duty Truck group Co., Ltd. (CNHTC), Great Wall Auto, Yutong etc. participated in the expo.

5. Tuning-vehicle pavilions demonstrated innovation and fashion


During CIAPE 2012, China International Auto Refitting Expo was also held in three pavilions, namely, the Chinese Pavilion, the European & American Pavilion and the Asia-Pacific Pavilion. Over 600 refitting vehicles around the world were displayed, attracting wide attention. World renowned brands such as Lamborghini, Ferrari and Porsche etc demonstrated their latest products and technology. In addition to the tuning car display, fringe activities were held such as Tuning Vehicle Appraisal and Appreciation Event, Lecture on Safe Driving and Refitting, Photography and Blog Contest, onsite lottery etc have attracted the eyeballs of all the tuning car fans at the expo.

Mr. Virenda Gupta, Deputy Director-General of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) I am glad to inform you that the India Show organized concurrently with the 6 th China International Auto Parts Expo was well received by all the participants. The exhibition and the seminar provided an excellent platform for our members to better understand the Chinese market and also to network with the Chinese companies in exploring new business opportunities. I understand the India Evening provided a unique platform for the Chinese audience to experience the rich culture and cuisine of India. Ms. Nouri, ITCIR (Iran) With the help of the Iranian government, this is the first time for Iran to participate in CIAPE. The Iranian delegation displayed cars and auto parts products manufactured in Iran. CIAPE provided our exhibitors with the opportunity to meet face to face with the car manufacturers and auto parts suppliers in China. This will greatly help the Chinese and Iranian companies to jointly explore the development trend of the automotive industry, and to strengthen their business and trade cooperation. Furthermore, we have met with many new world class trade partners via CIAPE. Mr. Chen Yudong, President, Bosch (China) Investment Co., Ltd. CIAPE has become a national platform to bring together domestic and foreign auto companies and to promote cooperation and development of the industry. It provides a

global display and exchange platform for all the major auto parts enterprises, therefore Bosch has been always actively involved in the show. In the future, Bosch will continue to make good use of this platform to provide better service to Chinese consumers with its innovative technology. Mr. Zhuang Zhiqiang, Vice President of Toyota Boshoku (China) Co., Ltd. This is the third time we participate in CIAPE. This year we have received about 2,000 customers, including government officials, OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and the news media. CIAPE helps us a lot in acquiring information about the latest products, the developing trends and expanding the companys influence. Mr. Wang Zhong, President, Beijing West Industry Co., Ltd. From 2011, we not only displayed our products at CIAPE, but also invited the OEMs to visit the expo. In the past six years, CIAPE have witnessed great development and have brought a lot of benefits to the exhibitors. Mr. Niu Hongwei, Director General of Fawer Planning, Development and Marketing Management Department CIAPE is Chinas only state-level expo and it has become one of the most important annual shows for Fawer. By participating in CIAPE, Fawer hopse to build its brand image and expand its brand influence. During the show, we communicate with our existing customers and seek for new opportunities to establish new consumption channels. Fawer has obtained a lot of information about the auto industry and the latest products and trends via CIAPE Mr. Wang Huyong, Zhengzhou Yutong Group Co., Ltd. In 2012, the overall global economic situation is not so optimistic, and China has become one of the most stable economies worldwide. Yutong as Chinas own brand, I am more optimistic about the huge potential demand in the Chinese market. We would like to extend out sincere thanks to the Organizing Committee of CIAPE for inviting us to participate. Yutong has gained a lot at CIAPE 2012 and hope that we will participate in CIAPE 2013. Mr. Chun Yu Jason, Jasper Engines & Transmissions, USA This is my fourth time here at CIAPE. I have always thought highly of CIAPE, and I am especially satisfied with the show this year. I really appreciate that India has participated in CIAPE this year as the Partner Country. I have taken the opportunity to meet with suppliers from both China and around the world, network with existing clients and broaden our purchasing channels. I am really looking forward to CIAPE 2013.

The Shiyan Automobile and Auto Parts Export Base We have organized an exhibitor delegation of 54 companies for CIAPE 2012. Shiyan is known as the Capital of Chinas Commercial Vehicles, the National Torch Plan Key Auto Parts Industry Base and the China Shiyan Auto Parts City at the show. Vehicle, special vehicles, engineering machinery, auto parts and auto parts foreign trade companies are the highlights of the Shiyan Pavilion. The Shiyan Pavilion has attracted buyers and traders from about 100 countries such as the USA, Russia, UK, France, Germany, India and Pakistan, etc. for communication and business. China Changan Automobile Group Co., Ltd (Sichuan Jianan Axle Branch) I find that there are a lot of buyers from the OEMs at CIAPE, which is good for extending our potential customers. Furthermore, there are lots of world famous auto parts enterprises participating in this expo. CIAPE provides a good chance for automotive companies to display our brands and communicate in new technology. Mr. Qiu, China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Co., Ltd. CIAPE 2012 is a great success. The quality of this years exhibitors is better than last year. During the world economic slump, the show maintains the number of visitors and witnesses some increase in the number of visitors from the domestic OEMs.

Liaoning Fuxin Hengbaida Mechanical Ltd. The scale of CIAPE 2012 is increasing, with more and better exhibitors. The buyers could easily find what they want with detailed information. The exhibition environment is good, and there are a lot of foreign visitors. We hope that CIAPE could get better and better! Buers from Bolivia There are a lot of quality suppliers and complete product categories at CIAPE. We have found what we need and are really satisfied with the show. Ajin Balance Machinery Co., Ltd. CIAPE 2012 has been a great success. Although this is our first time to participate in the show as an exhibitor, we have gained a lot, and will definitely continue to exhibit in CIAPE 2013. Changchun Research Institute for Mechanical Science Co., Ltd. During CIAPE 2012, clients from countries like Turkey, Thailand and India have reached cooperation intentions with us. This is a ground-breaking step for our institute and has opened new channels for the export of our straightening machines in the future. The global sourcing and match making meetings during the show, which aim to help us suppliers to find the potential buyers, are really efficient and effective. We will continue to participate in these kinds of meetings in the future. Beijing Greentec Equipment Stock Co., Ltd. There are quality auto parts suppliers, various types of buyers and good services at CIAPE. The show is great. Buyers from the U.S.A CIAPE realized its target of being international, professional and market-oriented. The quality of both exhibitors and visitors has been further improved compared to the previous years. The show provides the most effective platform in China for the automotive companies to showcase their brand images and strength, develop new markets and seek cooperation. Knorr-Bremse Braking Systems for Commercial Vehicles (Dalian) Co., Ltd. It is out of our expectation that we could meet with so many qualified suppliers during just one show. At the procurement match-making meeting, we have reached cooperation intention with many powerful companies, and will follow up with them later. The Xinhua News Agency As China's only state-level international auto parts exhibition, CIAPE 2012 has attracted more than 1,400 outstanding auto parts companies from all over the world, including the Indian delegation of more than 80 big auto parts suppliers led by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the relevant authorities in India. Mr. S Gopalakrishnan, President Designate of CII, and the co-founder of the world leading consulting and technology company Infosys, said that there are huge demand in the Indian auto market, the Chinese auto companies will enjoy very good business opportunities in the Indian market. China Automotive News In CIAPE 2012, many foreign enterprises, joint ventures and domestic independent brands exhibited on the same stage. The show has demonstrated the light weight trend and innovation in new materials, and that the domestic enterprises are actively following up in the technical development. CIAPE reflects the great potential for the development of China's auto industry, and the global expectation for the fast development in China's auto industry in the future.
