HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chron. 16-18; John 6:1-35 Monday, May 20 John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. Lord Jesus, Savior: Whoever believes in you finds enough to satisfy now and enough to make content for eternity. My days need not be dreary from lack of comfort. My nights need not be long because I cannot find something worthy of thanks. No, my relationship with Christ is a fountain of joy if I just consider it and meditate on it. Put me in a dungeon and I can find good company (like Silas and Paul). Place me in a desert and I can eat the bread of heaven. When my helpers turn into haters, I can go to the friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Smite my shady vine and I will find a shadow beneath the Rock of Ages. Tap-out the fountain of my earthly hopes and my heart is still fixed, trusting in the Lord. But what about __________ and __________? Their heart is as insatiable as the grave until Jesus enters into it! Use me to get the gospel to them. Save them. Then let us disciple them so their life will be full to overflowing of grace. There is such fullness in you Jesus, that you alone are my all in all. The truly mature believer is so satisfied with Christ that he or she does not pine away over what they think they are missing, or have lost in this life. Give me a deeper drink from your fountain! I have not a thirst of pain, but a lovingly longing desire. I am panting after a fuller enjoyment of Jesus love. I have been dropping my bucket down the well quite often, but now I wish I could put the whole river to my lips! All my desires are satisfied in you, Jesus. I have no need, but to know more of you. Give me closer fellowship this week. Psa. 73:25 there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chron. 19-21; John 6:36-71 Tuesday, May 21 John 16:28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father. Jesus: Teach me, by looking at you on the cross, to simply do what Jesus did. You rested in God in all times of danger and pain. If the doctor tells me I have to go under the knife I should say, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. Fretting will certainly not aid. Fear will not hurt me. Only doing what Jesus did. You had brave confidence in the time of death or fear of death. For in that moment of death I will understand more than I will ever learn on earth, and see in an instant more than I could hope to see if I lived for a century. I have no wish, no will, and no word, but to simply hand my heart over to the Keeper, like Jesus did. You had complete submission in any circumstance. If I get into the hands of God, everything else is at rest. Home and happiness are there. I move out of the nothingness of the creature and into the all-sufficiency of the Creator. You said, It is finished. I am not finished, but you are. So the only thing I have left to do is to work out in my life what you have already finished. All I have to do is show to others out of my life your finished work, by my reactions to every reality and any eventuality. And because It is finished, I will return to you. So my life henceforth is in you. My joy is in you. To die is to be in you. I will not worship afar off. I can come close in childlike confidence. I recognize your greatness even as I speak with you as a child to its Father. The cross has accomplished my access. The door is open and entrance is free. I can be in your presence at any moment by prayer. This is what Jesus did. He prayed at all times so he could see God in every thing. Help me, Holy Spirit, do what Jesus did today, for I ask this in his precious name. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chron. 28-29; John 8:1-30 Friday, May 24 1 Pet. 3:7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered. Gracious God and Father: Prayer is the most precious thing, because it is the channel by which blessings come to believers. It is the window through which our church is supplied to fulfill your mission. It is so invaluable that the danger of hindering it is used by Peter as the motive whyin marriage relationships and household mattershusbands and wives have to behave in such a way the Holy Spirit is not grieved or quenched, and therefore prayer be hindered. Anything that hinders prayer is wrong. If anything regarding how we treat our husband, wife or family is injuring our power in prayer, then it is time to set the whole church right! We are co-heirs of grace, and any behavior, any word, or any attitude that contradicts that is evil. It is evil and urgently demands change. Its time to get right, church! This is mission-critical. Prayer is the gauge of spiritual power, so to restrain prayer is dangerous to us and deadly to the mission. It is a fatal flaw. What we are upon our knees we are before God. What the Pharisee and publican were in their prayer in Luke 18 was the indicator of their true spiritual state. We can maintain our reputation in the community, and still be lacking power as a church. If we are prayerless, it makes no difference our attendance or offerings. We admit and confess this right now. Put the spirit of prayer in us so we continually talk to you! If something in our spiritual system needs to be ejected, or something lacking needs to be supplied, make us aware and help us correct it, for we want to serve you right. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chron. 22-24; John 7:1-26 Wednesday, May 22 Rev. 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches. Lord and Guiding Master: If I use your light for my own glory, then I am not filled with love. By your mercy Lord, forbid that I should fall under such a condemnation. If I lose my first love, I will lose my peace, then my joy, then my usefulness. Persuade me by your promise: Rev. 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. The diminishing of my love is the first sign I need revival. Help me grow through grace to overcome the common tendency to decline in love over time. Let familiarity not breed contempt, but instead confirm me in my consecration. Revelation from your word will fuel revival, because if I eat the fruit from a better tree then I will have a better life. Give me a life proved secure by love, and a love proven sincere by my service. Those are the signs of revival. I see in these verses that those who lose their first love wander. Those who keep their first love are drawn into closer fellowship with you. Bring me nearer to the center of paradise this week. I want to taste the tree that is in the middle of the garden, the inner ring of knowing and loving Christ. I will know you better as I love you more. Eve took fruit from the forbidden tree and gave it to Adam. Christ takes fruit from the tree of promise and offers it to us, his bride. Let me eat and live forever, for Jesus sake and glory. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 1-3; John 8:31-59 Saturday, May 25 Psa. 101:2 I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart. Dear Lord and Righteous Father: The best praise is purity and the best music is holiness. If I really want to worship you I will walk in your word and in the Spirit today. I need revival! This was Davids deliberate choice. Make it mine. Influenced by the grace of God, let me choose wisdom as the principal thing, and count the fear of the Lord as my best protection. Others can run after gain and fame. Whatever happens to me today this is my desire: I want to behave myself wisely. But to behave wisely, I have to be holy. Give me the manliness and womanhood (let alone godliness) to do the right thing in every thing today. It will be the turning point in my career, my home, my relationships, my difficulties. It will save me from a thousand future sorrows for every present pain it does not eliminate immediately. I dont need to be a philosopher to know right from wrong. The way to act in every instance is, Eccl. 12:13 Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For most people, their conscience is elastic. But the law of the Lord is consistent and standard. I will always lose less by doing right than I ever would by doing wrong. I will behavefor I am determinedbut often I like the power. I want to behave wisely, but you know my dependence is on your Spirit for holiness. Come unto me for I need more grace. I need more help than I find in myself. I call on you to be my helper for holiness. Do it for Jesus sake and honor. Amen.

A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Chron. 25-27; John 7:27-53 Thursday, May 23 2 Thes. 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

YOU can ask the children of Israel, trapped at the Red Sea
By that mean old Pharoah, and his army. They had water all around them, and Pharoah on their track, From out of nowhere, God stepped in, and cut a highway just like that. You can ask the five thousand hungry souls He fed, on the banks of the river With two fish, and five loaves of bread. What a miracle, He performed for the multitude, Oh, what He did, way back then, Hell do today for me and you. Hes an on time God, yes, He is. Oh, on time God, yes, He is. Job said, He may not come when you want Him, but Hell be there right on time; I tell you Hes an on time God, yes, He is. Dottie Peoples, 1994

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

WEDNESDAY

THURSDAY

FRIDAY NIGHT-SATURDAY

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
