first classwas a gym/weightlifting classthat is locatedon theupperlevel of ColumbineHigh School.and he said thisclass lasted
from 0700 to 0815 hours. Timothy said he then went to hIS second hour class. which was a biology class. and is locatedin the
sciencedepartment on the upper level of Columbine High School He said this class lasted from 0825 to 0915 hOUfS. Timothy
said next he went to his math class on the upper level of Columbine High School and said this class lasted from 0925 to 1015
hours. Timothy said he then well! to his English class. also on the upper level of Columbine High School. and said this class
lastedfrom approximately 1020 to 1050hours. Timothy said whilegoing from one class to the next duringthe morning of 4-10-
99. he did not observe any suspicious people or items, He was only on the upper level of Columbine High School until about
1050 on 4..20~99. when he went downstairs.

Timothy Nep told me when he got out of hIS fuurth hour English class. he walked down the stairway from the upper level of
Columbine High School to the lower level Thisstairwayleads down and mto the cafeteria/commons area of the school. Timothy
said he went to the "Rebel Corner" in the cafeteria/commons area to get something to eat. Timothy said while he was at the

"RebelComer" he suddenly heard peoplescreaming andsaidtheywererunning from the cafeteriaand common. area southbound
In the hallway, past the "Rebel Comer," and were exiting the high school through the doors south of the "Rebel Corner,"
Timothy said he tbcught there was a fight takingplace and believed that was why people were runningand screaming. Timothy
said he then heard somebody yell something to the effectof "he has a gun," Timothy said at that point whenhe heardsomebody
mentiona gun being Involved, he begun runningwith the other people southbound through the hallway by the "Rebel Corner,"
and said he exited the south door of this hallway and then turned eastbound and ran away from Columbine High School. Timothy
said be ran across south Pierce Street and into LeawoodPark.

Timothy ;-J~ said he remained in Leawood Park for 3,WrQx,irr.ately one hour or less with other people from Columbine High
School Timothy said whilehe was in Leawood Park, he heardapproximately four to five explosions that sounded likethey were
corning from the area of the west side of Columbine High School and possibly in the vicinity of the cafeteria. Timothy said he

did not remember bearing any gunshots during the incident on 4-20..99 Timothy said during the time he was in Leawood Park

or prior to arriving in Leawood Park, he did not see anyone with a firearm or explosive device. either outside or inside of

Columbine High school shccrmg towards LeawoodPark. Timothy said he did not see anybody on the roof of ColumbineHigh
School, nor did he hear any incoming gunshot, of any type. Timothy said he left Leawood Park, however. and went mto
somebody's house who had invited students inside. Timothy did not know who this person was, Timothy said he later left this
residenceand went to Leawood Elementary School.

TimothyNep told me that he knows who the "TrenchCoatMafia"is,however, said h. did no' knowmuchaboutthem. Timothy
said prior to the shooting on ,,"20-99, he did not know any of the "Trench Coat Mafia" students by name, including Dylan
Kleboidand Eric Harris. Timothy 'aid that sometimeprior to 4-20·99 he had seen Dylan Klebold in the hallway of Columbine
High School, however, he did not know Dylan Klebold's name at mat time. Timothy said he now knows It was Dylan Klebofd
because he saw Dylan Klebold's picture through the media since the shooting, and recognized him as the "TrenchCoat Mati."

and when worn backwardsthe hat had a BostonRed Sox "B" on theback of it (facing forwardwhen the nat is worn backwards 1.
Timothy said be could also remember Dylan Klebold wearinga T-shirt that said something to the effect of AOL Hackersare
Cool.

Timothy !'Iep said he never saw the "jocks" harass "Trench Coat Mafia"students. He also did not see the "TrenchCoat Mafia"
studentsharass other people. Due to the factthatTimothy said be played baseball and football at Columbine High School,I asked
him if tile "Trench Coat Mafia" students had ever harassedhim. and Timothy replied, "No."

Timothy Nep 'aid that Isaiah Shoeis was a friend of his. I asked him if'he ever saw anybody harass Isaiah Sheets or raciall~
intimidate Isaiah Shoels, and Timothy said he had neverseenany racialintimidation at ColumbineHigh School, and in particular
towards Isaiah ShoeIs, He said everybody liked Isaiah Shoels.

Timothy Nep said he does not know of anybody, nor has be heard any rumors of anybody else, who may be manufacturing

On 04-28-99 was assigned Information Control Number 1186 forfollowup Investigation. When I reviewed
the lead sheet ~ wasunclearas to whetherI was to interviewMandy ErinNichols or MarySue Baribeau. [calied
Mandy Nichols and found that she had not been interviewed and on 04-29·99 at 1030 hours responded to her
sidance and Interviewed her with her mother. Mandy Nichols said that she had been driven to school by her
ftiend. Jin Becerra. Shesaidthattheyarrived atColumbine High School at approximately 0720 hoursand parked
in the senior parkinglot They entered the school through the faculty anti student entrance in the cafeteria and
then went upstairsto theirlockers. Mandysaidthat she then wentto herfirst hourclass, which Is business In the
downstairs buslne$$ c13$$ offices. She said normallythat she Is a student assistant In the main office but had
some homeworkto do In her busine!SS class and she went there Instead of the main ofllce. She said that her
second hourcl_ is Spanish, wIIichis downstairs and she left her business classto go directly10 Spanish. Third
hour Isherchemistry class, whichis upstairsand she went directlyfromherSpanish class to her chemistry class.
Her fourth hour business clau is u~slairs.
Mandy Nicholssaidthat afterher business class sheieft and went to her lockerto get her lunch and then
went to the 'A,' lunch. Sheestimated she arrivedin the .:afelena at about t115 hourswith her ftiend, Mary Elise.
She said that Mary had purchased her lunch and they sat down at a table near the south side exit doors. She
identified this table as possibly being table -1"'. She said that at approximately 1120hours, plus or minus a few
minutes, a fnend came running In yelling that some girt needed help. Mandy Initlany thought that this giri was
choking and that a boy then came l'1Jnning in covered with Iliood saying that the gin had been shot. Mandy said
that at approximately the same time, she heard shots coming from the parking lot area. The \lIn who came in

Mandy Nicholllsaid that as this all transpired there wereteachers yelling to get downand get under the
tables. MandyNichois said that thara was a masspanio and a rosh to gal 10 the stan. Shesaid she too joined
the crowd trying to getup tha stairs andthet as she neared the top of thestairs shenotlc:ed that there was smoke
in the hallway and could hearmore gunshots. Shesaidat the top of thestairsshetumedintothe firstdoor on her
left, which she saysis choir class. She then went into the rearchoirclassoffice. Sheestimated that therewere
approximately 60 students in thlt office with her.
Some of the students moved file cabinets against the doorsand liS theywltre doing this there wena fire
alarms gOing off in otherparts of thebuilding. Theyalsomoved adeskupagainst thedoor. several students were

using the phoneto call their parents. She indicated that she was continuing to heargunshots and explosions.
She saidthat whne theywerewailing in the roomtheythoughl theycouldhearpounding sounds on the roof. She

Mandy Nichois said that she didn't mow ERIC i4ARRIS but she does know OYLAN KLEaOLO She
attended junior highschool with Nm. Shesaidshe was neverreally ffiends with himbut mew who he was. She
said that 'In her CCSclassfirst semester. a class that Is communications for the college-bound, all the students
had to do research papers and thatDYlAN KLEBOI.O was in her class. The tltad'1er was Mr. Webb and it was
in sixth hour. She thought thatjust before Christmas 1996, that theyhadto writeresearch papers. She said she
recalled DYlAN KLEBOLO writing hispaperon Chan" Manson andtheClimes thatManson hadcommitted. She
saldthatlhe classhadto readtheirpapers andthat KLEBOLO's paperwasa very "weird" paper. Mandy saidthat
she was aware of what the "trench coatmafia-was and that ~ washer understanding that ~ was kids who wear
trenchcoats and hangoutwith each ether. She had neverheard of them being picke<l on by ethel' students and
had neverobserved them being picked on by others stl.ldents. orthem picking en ether students.
Mandy Nichols saidthat herbackpack Is a turquoise Jansportwhich contains a redbinder. a blackbinder.
a chemistry lab book, a Spanish book, aredpurse, a Caslocalculator andherColumbine iD. Shesaid onthe day

the cafeteria, Karen said that she thought the voice yelling to .get down' and [he gunshots both came from the vicinity of the
northwest comer of the cafeteria. possibly fromoutside the building. Karen ihinks that the person yelling was eitherJonor
teacher Dave Sanders. Karen described the gunshots as "single shots, very loud," Karen said that as Ion ran in frontof the
serving lines. numerousstudents who were seated at the various tables within the commons area began to dive under tables
and/or run toward the east side of the cafeteria, toward the stauway. Karensaid that immediatety after hearingthe gunshots.
she hearda "very loudexplosion." Karensaid thatsheremembered sayingout loud,"What wasthat?" Karensaidthat she bas

into the bathroom from the cellingand toldthem thatthis W3Sa good timeto leave, Karen said!hattheyalidecided to exitthe
bathroom again. which they then did. Karen said thatshe then lookedout the faculty window again and saw that the two 01

iNVESTiGATiON:
On 4/26199, Investigator Reker and 1metwtth Elizabeth Noian at her residence reference the shOoting at
Columbine High scneot,

I explained to Elizabeth why we were there and gave her a sketch of the cafeteria I asked !:iizabeth It she
could circle ttle table in the cafeteria where she 'NllS sitting the day of the shooting. Elizabeth circled table
marked "EE' and put an "x" on a chair showing where she was Sitting. i asked Elizabeth If she was sitting
by herself and she said no Elizabeth gave me thirteen names of students with which she was sitting. I
asked Elizabeth If she could tell me what happened on the day of the snconnq. Elizabeth tote me she was
ir l cafeteria at acproxirnatety 1 t :20 a.m.. when she heard a teacher tell everyone to get down
uncerneath the tables. Elizabeth said she men heard. what she described as. popping norses and the
teacher yelling for them to crawl out of the cafeteria. Elizabeth said when she got to the stauway which
leads upstairs she heard approximately six to eigrit more shots and belieVed that approximately 20 to 30
feet behind her a student was shot while going up the stairs. Elizabeth said there was a teacher. which she
did not know if it was Mr. Sanders or not. say that he would go back and get the student and for mern to
continue rJnning up the stairs. Elizabeth said tnat she then went to the auditorium. but the door was locked
and they had to get a teacher to unlock the door Elizabeth said that she then hid by a lighting area in the
accttcnurn. Elizabeth said while she was hiding there. she observed the suspect come into Ihe auditorium
and look around but he did not fire any shots in the auditorium, Elizabeth said that she then ran to the stairs
and hid behind some lockers ,n the auditorium with some other students. Elizabeth said while hiding behind
the lockers, someone pulled the fire alarm. Elizabeth said once the alarm was puiled, she and other
students ran through the band hail and while running through the band hall, she observed a tall skinny guy
running behind them, approxmately 100 feel. Elizabeth said while running wlih this person behmd them
she heard a "boom" Elizabeth said she then ran to a door and exiled the SChool by the baseball field and
ran through Clement ParK I asked Elizabeth It while running outside she heard any further shots and she
said yes. she believed tnat she heard shots and possibly more explosions.

i asked Elizabeth if she knew who the tall skinny male was and she said she believed him to be Dylan
Kiebold She said that Dylan had a mask on. but had hair sticking out of the mask and that she does know
Dylan and that appeared to be him, i asked how this person was dressed and she said "Dylan had on a
bl. rench coat. army boots. black pants and a black ski mask". I asked Elizabeth if this person was
carrying anything and she said that he did have a duffle bag on his !eft arm and had a gun in his right hand.

that the student was shot. and heard "Dylan caCkling". I asked Elizabeth if she actually saw the student get
Shot and she said yes. she did, as she turned around to see who was behind her and did see the studem
,et shot in the back and fall down. I asked Elizabeth who the teacher was who went back to help tne
;tudent and she said she believed it was Mr. Sanders. I asked Elizabeth If she saw anyone else get shot
md she said no. just this one. I asked Elizabeth If she was Injured during this and she said no, she was
lOt. I asked Elizabeth if she saw anyone elsa besides this tall Skinny shooter and she said. no. he's the
lnly one she saw Elizabeth said she has heard from other students that there were two and POSSiblY three
.hooters, but she only SI!JN the one,

Elizabeth said a few days before thts Incident. some locks on the school hed to be replaced because
someone had tampered with them. i asked her wt1at locks and she said the front door locks and also the
door jocks to the math hall all had to be replaced. The math hall IS on the side of the bUilding by the
Columbine High SOhool sign. I asked Elizabeth If she knew why the locks hed to be replaced and she said
all She Knew was mat somebody had tampered with them.

! assed Elizabeth if she had seen anyone else at the school that she felt might be involved and she said she

did see a white male in a white shirt wrth blaCk pants running in the hall by the band room. Elizabeth said
she believed that to be suspicious because he was running the OPPosite direction of everyone else. ! asked
:f she could descnbe this male and she sa,d he had brown heir. short in length and he had a white T-shirt
on. I asked if the ShIrt was a T-shirt or a dress sl1lrt and she said rt was a T-shirt. I asked Elizabeth If there
was anyone else that she had seen and she said no. I asked Elizabeth if there was anything eise that she
:;auld remember at til is time and she said that's all sl1e knows. I gave Elizabeth a business card and askec
her to call wrth any further Infonmation

On 05~ t8~99" between the hours cf0957 and 1036.1 had an oppommiry to speak with Jeff Neil in reference to Ut'C incidentthat
occurred al: Columbine High Scheel on 04-10·99 Atsc present during: the interview was his mother, Kathy Noll

Jeff stated he errivedat school on 04-20-99,at about 0733 hours. and that his mend. Brad Miller tJ03~9i3-712:::), had also nddeJi
to school with him that morning Jeff stated his father dropped: them off, and once they reached the hLgh school, :hey wetu in
the school via the' main entrance. and M proceeded to his Science class taught by Mt Will, After being released from Science
class, he went to his English class taught by Mt Leyba. and then (0 his third period class, which was Math, taught by \(s
MeWilliams. After he was released from his third period class, Jeff went to his fourth hour Government class taught b~' 'Ar
Savina. Jeff said after he was released from. fourth periodclass. that fit proceeded to his locker. #- 18:::!. which is locatednear

from Jeff Jeff told me he stayed at the bouse at Pierce and Polk for about l5 to:O minutes. and then he got a ride to Tvter
Pierce's home. where' he later went to the Columbine Public library and met with IUs motber at about 1 :SO p m

Jeff was shown a diagram of the cafeteria area and asked if be observed rwc large duffle bags Orsports rype bags. one being a
blue colorand the ether being a burnt crangish-red color. {{(lId him the itemswere located In the'Central core area of the cafeteria
and asked if he saw these (terns when he went to the food service line. Jeff stared he walked through that general area. bUI did
not recall seeing those items,telling me that it wasn't uncommon for larg~ packsor backpacks to be present m the cafeteria dunng
lunch period. Jeff'was asked ifhe observedany gunmenwhilein the cafeteriaat the high school. or if he saw any gunmenafter
he exited from the school. He stated he did not see any gunmen.but he heard a gunshot and told me he believed it was Il'l rhe

Jeff was asked ifhe knew any membersof the 'TrenchCoat "iatla. s~ifically 'Eric Harris or Dylan Klebold,or their associates.
He could not provide any information about this group Whenasked ifhe knew about Harris' Website. he again told me that

Narrative:

On 4·30·99 , Inv Reker did conduct an interview with Justin Norman at his residence, with his
momer
orssent.

Norman states that he had left weight Ililing class and had met Matt Katzenmeler in tha hallway ana
Ihat they walked to tl1e cafeteria at approx. 11'20 aM that while he was at the vending machines nextto the
Nest doors of the cafeteria.he heard shots out the west doorand t'1at he looked out and saw two people go
jown ana that Dylan Kliebold then came into the cafeteria via thesedoors and started shooting,and that
<:Iiebold was shooting allover the cafeteria, Norman also related that as the bullets were gOIng by whiZZing
by his headthat he was bUSy gelting people out of lt1e cafeteria,

It should be noted that this is the first time this Investigator has heard that Kliebold entered the
cafeteria by tI11S door and that he also fired numerous shots from this location. When Norman oescnbec this
alledged shooting from inslda the west door of the catetena.he held his hands by his hips as if holding a gun
and ~id a spraying or sweePIng motion from this position as he described Kliebolds actions,

Norman states that nobody was with Dylan,and mat Dylan was wearing a black trench coat, black
beets, a 'goofy" face, long blond hair,and a big 110se. Norman states that he did not see a duffel bag and
cannot describe a weapon,

Norman states that he then ran to the Rebel Comer and out the door and that he had his baCkpack
with him,

Norman states thaI the one victim outside had been shot in the ankle and that one had been shot in
the chest and that Kliebold had come from the outside steps by the west entrance to the cafeteria

Norman related that he knows Eric Hams from gym class but did not know Kliebold,

Norman states that he (Nonnan) was wearing blueshorts, and a green vest with a white shirt,

Norman related that he was in front in front of Coach Brookfield in the lunchroom.tit should be noted
that tnv. Reker did interview Brookfield and he states that he(Brookfield) was in the commons area of the

On 5/18/99, I contacted Jefferson County Schools ,.......a Administrator, Barb Monseu, andrequested any
information she migbr haveon cafeteria employee by mename of Ms. Caruthers. She said thatshe had no
information on suchan employee but would provide mewithinformation on the manager aDd otheremployees
of the kitchen. On 5/191991 received a faxtransmission from NancyCook for Barb Monseu with a listof the
Cclumbine HighSchool cafeteria workers. Ms. Caruthers is not On that list.

south side of tne cafeteriaat the timeof the shooting

At about 11 :25amshe lookedout the windows to the west and saw Anne ~1arie
HOCKHOLTER, whom she recognized from their elemental)' schooldays. fall to the
groundby me southwest comer of the cafeteria. She said she ran out me exit by the store
to see what was wrong with HOCKHOLTER. At some point near this time a Special
Education Teacher, Miss Chris REDMERSKl. told them to get down became someone
was shooting. As she got to l!le area of l!le comet she sawa SUSpecL whom she thought
she could idenufy as Dylan KLEBOLD, walkingwest from the entrance at the topof the
stairs by the grassy hillside. As this suspect got to the lOP of the stairs he turned back
towardthe entrance from which he hadJUSt come and fired a handgunabout ten times in
quick succession towards the school 1 entrance. She recalled this suspect was holding me
handgun in his right hand.

NUNCIO described after firing the shots the suspectthen turnedand went back to the
area at tho top of the stairs. stood by the edge of the grass. She watched :IS he reached
into his trenchcoar andpulledour what she though! was a pipe bomb with his right hand
and threw it towards the senior pariting lot. She could not recall what the suspect had
done with we handgun he wasshooting with his righl handjust prior to this. At tIlis time
N1JNCIO said she /UIlled and ran back into the cafetena thorough the row of multiple
doors. She thenwentbackto the REBCorner, studentstore. with a few of her friendll
whereseveral girls werescreaming. She then ran down the hallway to the right and ran
out the exit nearthe Foreign Language classrooms to Leawood Ptlrl<.

NUNCIO clarified that she did not recallseeing KLEBOLD prior to the day of l!le
shooting, bUI made this identification subsequently due to seeing their photographs on the
mediacoverage. She felt il had been K.l.EBOLD due to the shootershe had seen having
blond hair. She addedthat this suspect was wearinga blackballcapon backwards,and a
black trelIchcoa~ but otherwise could nOI provide funher description of him or his
weapons. NUNCIO did nOI see anyoneelse with this suspect, or anything that migh!
have been besidehim at the time.

school, bus number S2,that drops her off at the south main entrance. She said she entered the school at
apprcximately 7:05 and went to her locker which is in the mainhallway and then went to her athletic lockerby
the gymnasium to drop off her track equipment. She then wasout in the main hall by the main entrance,
visiting with friends Julie McGinley. Allison Reardon, and Jenny Naifeth. She said that she then went to her
firsthour. which is English on the main level near the offices. She then went to second hour, which is Spanish,
on the lower level. Mrs. Hickman is the teacher. From there she went to her tbJrd hour which is Science. She
went back upstairs through the main stairwell. She then went to her fourth hour class which is Choir. In
betweenthird and fourth hour she did go with a friend to a friend's locker, however she did not go to her locker,
From Choir she went to the "AU IMCh.

O'Dell stated that 'he went into the cafeteria and dropped off her backpackat the table, which she identified as
_. She then went to the service line and picked up a chick filet sandwich. She went back 10 the table and
believesshe may have even finishedher sandwich, and was eatingand talking with friends when she heard
some boys from the far end of the cafeteriayell to get down. She then looked across the lunchroom and saw
rhat kids were getting down under the tables and that someof the students were crawlingon their stomachs
across the floor towards their locsncn. She said that j anitors were walkingby with walkie-talkies, then she
heard conversations about someonehaving a gun. She thought that students on the ground were talking about
that She said thaI all of a sudden people started 10 t11Jl towards the stairwell, She did not hear any gWlshots at
thaIlime. She said thaI she and her friendKatie Jorgensen ran up the stairs together. She believes that they
were one of the first ones up the stairs, She said that they ran straighldown the hall when they got to the top of
the stairs, and as they got IC the top of the stairs they heard what they thoughl were loud bombs. She said thaI
they ran straigh; out the doors yelling for other students IC evacuate the school as they left. She said that when
she ran out of t'le school, she ran acTOSS the street into Leawood Park. She 'aid that she mel up with 150 or so
people in the park, She said that while they were there theyheard more bombs or gWlShots and then heard
someone yell that they should get out ofthe park. She said that she then went to her friend LindsayBlair's

house,and 'he was able to call her mother and her mather believesshe receivedthe call approximately 11 45 to
11.50. Hermother came to the house and picked up 12 ofthe girls that lived in the Governor's Ranch areaand
took them home. At Katie Jorgensen' house they were able to use the cell phone and other phones to call
parents. O'Dell said that as she ran down the maincorridorto exit the building, she remembers dodging in
between pHlars and behind walls as to avoid being shot. She said that shedoesn't know Why she <tid that now,
because there was no shootingin the hallway thal she was aware of, but she could hear it behind her

O'Dell said thar her backpack is blue with black trim. Inside the backpack is her Government,Math, Spanish
and Vocabularybook. several notebooks, her Government and Spanish folder,her calculator, her purse with
makeup and her school Ilr, and peas and pencils. She said she was wearing khaki shorts and a pink shit! with a
pink top, and white lenni:; shoes.

O'Dell is a Freshman. She said that:;he had heardof the l!O!lch coal mafia. and had seen kids wearing trench
coats aroundschool andjust assumedthat they were part of the trench coat mafia. She's had no problemswith
any students in the group and she', unawareof any students that <tid have problems. She said that her friend
Julie McKinneyreceived a letter during one of her classes in which the Sophomores write the Freshman Ierters,
She doesn't know Who the letter was from, but the letterwas all about warning Julie about her dealings with
members of the trench coat mafia.

O'Dell said that she doesn't know anybodywith two piercedeyebrows, She does have Interne, accessat home,
however she only uses it for Ecmail and her on-line service. She said that she did see 'he Royal News Network
and she thinks that she saw the thoughtof the day being you don't wont 10 be here today.

O'Dell said that during her travels through the schoolshe didn't notice any unusual backpacks or duffle bags.
She had no further informationto add to the investigation.

around school the day of the shooting. When asked specifically, he
said he diQ not see any duffle baqs.

• On the day of the shooting, he had math class for 4th hour. He
got out: at ll; 10 a, m. and. went straight. down the stairs to t.he
cafeteria. He said he always goes to the last table that is in the
hallway outside Rebel corner. The table is the one. in that area
that is closese to the cafet.eria tables. This was veri!ied by t~e

location his backpack was fo~~d, table D.

• He was at. that table with his girlfriend, !\my Evans and; Le~gh
Kamens, Steve T~jillo, Heather Dinkel, Nick Shuman, and Tlna
llernacci. He sat down at. the table and w"ited for the lunch lines
to go d,own. After waiting about: 5 or 10 mdnutes , he gOt up and
st.arted toward the food line.

go to t.he food line, he saw students scrambling toward the west:

• As he got close between tabl .." X and Y, everyone began to squat

down. lie heard someone say something about a ".hooting.' He got
down and does not remember if he heard any shots. He did hear
crying and panic. Aft.er i:leing down for 4S seconds, he started to
crawl back to his table. About half the way there, everyone started
to run out of the cafeteria. lle Went up the stairs and left down
the hallway ~~d out that hallway'S east doors toward Pierce St.

INVESTIGATION:
On 05103199 I was assigned Information Control Number DN2513 for follow up investigation,
The narrative stated that Jeremy Orban hadbeen in the cafeteria at apprOXimately 7:00 a.m. The
source was Brandi Wiseman, a student at Columbine HIgh School.
On 05104199 at 1130 hours I mel with Jeremy Orban and his motherJoann Sander·Ceden at
theirresidence, Also present at the residence were two other Columbine students, Braden Pesusich
and Ali BQukhalfa. Both Pesuslch and Boukhalfa were present in the cafeteria with Jeremy Orban
andthey were also interviewed,
Orban stated that he walked to school on 04120199 and that he arrived at apprOXimately 0710
hours and that he entered the school through the main entrance thenwent to his lockerand down to
commons or cafeteria area, He said he mel a girlnamed Cari, last nameunknown and Brandi

Wiseman, He said they .....ere in the commons lor approximately 10 to 15 minutes before first hour.
Orban said that he didn't notlee anything unusual in the cafeteria at that time, He didn't notice any
unattended duffel bags or backpacks, although he said he .....asn't really looking for any,
Orban left the commons area and went to Span:sh on the lower level for first hour He left
SpaniSh ar.a second hour .....ent to chemistry on the main level, for third hour he went to history on the
main level and after third hour he went to his locker and then to fourth hour across from the
gymnasium, his math ciass. He then left his math class and went to the A lunch. He said that when
he amved he got in line to purchase food and after he purchased his pizza he went to sit at his table

Orban said that he sat down at the table, took two bites of this pizza when he heard a janitor
come in through an outside door yelling for everyone to gel dowl), ~ said that he looked out the

windows and saw a person who he believes was Dylan Klebold ~ a male student m the leg and
throw a pipe bomb into the parking lot He said that he and other students then got under the tables,
He said that then he and other s~",dents began running towards the stairs and as they ran Orban
couid hear what he described as booms thinking in retrospect that these were pipe bombs, Orban
said that as he approached the stairs he could see th31the stairwell was quite crowded and there
was a teacher in the hallway by tl1e food cart directing them down tl1e hall. He said that he ran down
the hall until he had to make a right and followed that hallway down to the last classroom. He said
there were numerous students gOing Into that olassroom and there were several teachers in the class
with them, He said that after several minutes lhe teachers heard the shooling from what he believes
was upstairs and he, at the direction of the faoulty, ran aut the south exit doors from this classroom,
across the student parking lot and to a house at Polk Street and Pierce. He said they went in the
house for a short time and a student there had a cell phone and he was able to call his mother, He
'Ieved he was able to contact her at approximately 11:45 a.m. Orban had been separated from his

mends at the table when he left the table. Orban did not leave anything behind in the cafeteria. He
said he had been wearing brown corduroy's and a green T shirt. He said he took his backpack with
him when he left Orban said that he noticed nothing unusual In the cafeteria prior to the incident
beginning, that he didn't nonce any iarge duffel bags or backpacks that appeared to be unattended.
However. he staled that he probably wouldn't nonce such an item because it is common practice far
the students to drop their packs and go get food, using their packs to save a spot. Orban said that
he was familiar with the trench coat mafia only by name and knew that they were kids that wore
trench coats, but had no run in's with them and couid provide no further information on the trench
coat mafia. He also did not know Eric Harris or Dylan Klebold. Orban did not know of any students
who were building pipe bombs or stockpiling weapons. He does not have his own web sIte and does
not have Intemet access at home.
I next intervIewed Braden Pesuslch. He il'ldicated he had not been in the cafeteria any other
time during the day and had gone to the cafeteria for the A lunch. He said that he had come from the
upstairs into the cafeleria, had gone to the lunch line and then made his way to the table when the
incident began. He said that he observed people standing up by the west windows and felt perhaps
there was a tight. He said that he had a fairly clear yiew of the kid running up the hil!, trying to ;un up
and get away, when he heard more shots. He said thai he then observed what he thought were pipe
bombs being thrown into the parking lot. He said that he saw one of the gunmen by the wlMdow
shooting down towards the ground. He could not see what the gunman was shooting at The only
description he could remember was that this gunman had iong aurly hair and in retrospect thinks It
was Dylan i'<lebold. He said about this time people were starting to run for the stairs to the cafeteria
He said that he ran along the south waU and that he saw a girl screaming. He thought hiname
might be Kim or Patty Blair. He couldn·t be sure because the Blair's are twins. He said that the glri
was screaming "Ann Marie, Ann Marie". He said that shortly past this girl that was screaming, was a
male student who was covered with blood. He said he didn't appear to be injured. but he had blood
.. oyer him. He said he next focused on the stairs and saw there was a large crowd there and ran

down the corridor into·thelanguagesection of the building. He said that he didn't go entirely down
the hall. but made a rtght tum by the Special Ed hall. He said as he ran past the stairwell he oould
heara rapid series of shots from where he believed was e~her behind him or upstairs. He said that
he then ran down the corridorpast the Speclal Ed classroom and out of the building. Pesustcn said
that he took his pack with him and he was weartng khaki colored pants and a dark blue T shirtand
left nothing behind in the cafeterta. Pesusioh said that hewas familiar with the trench coat mafia only
by name but had no run in's with them and cculd provide no further information on the trench coat
mafia, He also did not know Eric Harrisor Dylan Klebold. Pesusich did not know of any students
whowere building pipe bombs or stockpiling weapons. He does have Intemet access at home,
however he does not have a web page or username, Pesuslch couid add nothing further
I also interviewed Ali Boukhalfa, whoalso stated he had only been in the cafeteria duringthe A
eh and that he had comefrom upstairs. He said he had been in line and was making his way
backto the tablewhen the incident began. He heard a commotion and a loud thud outside the west
windows. He got up and saw a suspectwith what he believed was a shotgun. He observed him
shoot the gun but did not know where he shot it Into. He then saw what he thoughtwas a pipe bomb
go flying through the air and then the suspect ran to the north Side and up the stairs. He then heerd
several loud bombs as he was getting down. He said thatwhen the students began to run out of the
cafeterta he ran for the stairs. He went up the stairs andthen directly east out the southeast main
entrance and across the street Intothe park. He said that as he was running out the corridor he
could still hear gunshots which he believed were coming from behind him, Boukhalfa could not
identify the personhe saw with the shotgun and could provide no furtherinformation as to what the
person might have beenwearing.
Boukhalfa left nothing behind, he was wearing jeans and a dark Ilrey T shirt with II marbled
top. Boukhalfa said he was familiar with the trench coat mafla and had seen them around. He also
did not know Ene Hams or Dylan Klebold but that in retrospect he had seen Klebold around the
1001. He had no direct involvement with the trench coat mafla, but had II friend named Brett

Sullivan who had transferred to Englewood se_al months ago for other reasons. Sullivan had
bumped into Klebold and they got into a pushing ecntest. Boukhalfa received this information
second hand and did not have personal knowledge of the Incident He could only add that the trench
ceat mafia membenl seemed rather odd and he stayed away from them. He did not know of any
students who were building pipe bombs or stockpiling weapons and noijced nothing unusual in the
school the day this incident occurred. He does not have a web page and could add nothing further.
Both Pesusich and 80ukhalfaverified the students that were at their table. They also
indicated on the maps provided their routes into and out of the building. Orban indicated his
entrance In a solid orange and his exit in a doted orange, Boukhalfa did his entry in a solid green and
exttin a doted green and Pesusich did his entry in a solid red and his exit in a doted red.

On 05-06-S91 responded to 6338 Geddes Drivewhere I metwithAilsaOwen and her mother. Ailsa Owen
confirmed Ihal she was in the cafetaMa when this incident occurred.
Owen slated that on 04·20·99 she drove her car10 Columbine High School and parked in her assigned
parking space#214 in thesenior lot. Sheentered the school through the student entranceIntothe Commons and
went up to her locker. which is on \he main hall by the audltorurrn, She estimated she arrived at approximately
0700 hours. Shethen went to her physicsclass onthe mainlevel and spoke with her teacher For first hour she
has physics with Mr. Manuello. Second hour she has Spanish with Ms. Burch·SteMing. Third hour she has
language arts, whichis back 00 the main leveland fourth hourshehas math in the mathwing. Forthat class she
had a substitute teacher and does not recall the name. Shesaid thai after fourthhour she went to her locker and
thenwentto the "A" lunch. Shereviewed the diagram olthe cafeteria and indicated she was seated at tabie '00"

Owen said that she peaked up from overthe tableandable to look out the window. She said that on the
hili area she saw someone trip and fall down. She thought that it was DYLAN. She said that he was wearing a
black trench coat and his blaok baseball cap which he wears backwards. She said that she also thought it was
DYLAN becauseof his curly hair. She could not see hiS handsand she couldn't tell what he was wearing on his
feet. She said that she also saw someoneby the carsthatwere parkednear the building. She said that usually
ERIC, DYLAN and Zak have their cars parked in the first spots. She inte~ected that she knew that ERIC and
DYLAN andlak hadanived at school at 0430hoursto getthoseget thoseassignedparking spaces. Theywanted
to have the spots closest to the school.
Owen said that Zak drives a blue car, DYLAN has a black Volvo or BMW, and ERIC also drives a black
-. She said that there was one person standing between two cars in the iot. She couldn't tD the person as they
had their back to her, but she thoughtthat they were wearing a blacktrench coat and lookedheavier-set andwas
wearing camel army pants. She said that she does recalilhatthere was a car parked in Zak's spot. whichis the
first spot and DYLAN's spot which is the second spot andthinks that the third space was empty. She thefl said
that she startedto craWl acrossthe cafeteriafloortoward the stairwell. She said that she saw peoplegoing up the
staits and she got up and ran.
Owen ran to the stairs and as she was going up the stairs noticed that a friend of hers had fallen. She
doesn't recall the friend's name. She helped her up andthought that she had sprainedher ankle. Shesaid that
theythen heardgunshotsInthe cafeteria behindthemandshe alsoheardbombs. Peoplewere beginning to panic
andyell "get out, get out". She said that she was frustrated as she went up the stairs because the crowd wasn't
moving fast enough and that wnen she finallygot up the stairs, she ran directly down the hallway and out of the
building, She didn't recall hearing fire aiarms but did say that she did hear gunshots and bombs as she was
running out, These sounds were coming from behind her.
When she exiled the school she went across the street into the Leawood Park and attempted to find her
friends. She was at a gazebo when she heardsomeone yelled to run.again and run into the neighborhood. She
ran into the neighborhood and got Into a house. She didn't knowwhose house that it was, but she got on a cell

a dayplanner, several other books, a TI 83 graphingcateulator, and a wallet. Owensaidthat shewas wearing jean
overalls, a gray short-sleeved shirt. and tennis shoes.
Owen said that she knew ERIC HARRISandthat she believesIn eighth or ninth grade she had asxe<! him
to a class dance. She said that he is since been in several of her classes including her CCS class taught by Mr
Webb. She was not in his particular group in the classanddid not knewwhat his paperwas about.She that when
evershe would hang around ERIC and his friends, they wereconstantlyjOking around saying things like''l'm going
10\ you too". Owen said that this was Just their sense of humor and she did not feel threatened by the talk.
Owen said that she had seen DYLAN KL5BOLD in the hallways and several weeks prior to the incident,
had talked to him about school. She said she was extremely surprised when it turned it was DYLAN KLEBOLD

was involved In the incident because she describes him as "a nice guy" She wasn't surprised to find out that It
was ERIC HARRISbecause he had a very dark side andhe alwayskept to himself. I asked Owen to characterize
her relationship with ERIC and DYLAN. She said that they more of acquaintances than friends.
Owen said that she also knewZak Hecklerandthat he had been in one of her classes, a Power Pointclass
for physics. However, she didn't even considered herself an acquaintance of Zak only that she knew him
Owens said that sh'l' usually ate lunch with a group of girls who liked to associated themselves with the
"trench coat mafia", Their names were Nicole Marks. Krista (last name unknown), Alex (last name unknown.
possibly Marsh), and Vanessa (last name unknown). She said that usuallythe talk at their lable was about prom

was no longer a friend but her name just appeared 1n the phone booksthat Alisa was using and she called her.
Shesaid that later when Ailsa wasn't in the residence, Tiffanycalledand Cathy Owenasked her if she was okay.
Shesaid Tiffany's response was'l wasn't there, and I don'twanttalk about it". In retrospect, CathyOwenthinks
this Is an unusual statement. Alisa Owen couid add no furtherinformation.

On 05-05-99 I was assigned InfOlll1ation Control Nllmber 01'12799 for follow lip investigation The
Information Control narrative stated that Nathaniei Owen is on ttle original cafeteria backpack list.
On 05-06-99 I responded to 9704 West PowerCirclewhere I met with Nathaniel Owen and his parents.
Nathaniel confirmed that he was in the cafeteriawhen this incidentoccurred.
Owenslated that he took the bus to school. He believed the bUll numberis S 1 He anrived at school by the
main entrance, the entrancejust southof the main entrance. He said that he entered the school and went to the
cafeteria area and arrived there at approximately 0715 hours. He indicated on the map that he sat at a table near
the east pillar, possibly tablEl "HH" or W, He said that he visited with other students who were in the cafeteria
and then left the cafeteria to go to his first hour class which is journalism and the teacheris Jenkowski He sa,d
that the journalism class is on the main level. He let! first hourto go to second hour, which is his language arts
class, Mr. Laba, and he met with ChanesWhitsel. Theytraveledto the mathciaas together for thirdhour withMrs.
Layman. He said that aflerthird hour he has fourth hour off andwentto the Commons. He said !l1at he golto the
Commons and went to his usual tabie which he identified as table "IT. He said that several of his other friendS
that have fourth 110ur off met him there, those being Jeff Holfer, Gift Seawright, Robbie Wisher. Chris Wisher.
Jordan Grimm, and other student that they refer to as Nevel. Also BrianBay was with them at this lime, He said
!l1at sometimes they eat or do homework or just talk duringthis 110ur. He said that during the fourth hour he didn't

noticeanyone come in to the cafeteria and drop off a backpack or duffle bag. However, he indicated his backwas
to the doors by the facUlty lounge and he wouldn't have been able to see anybody come. He said that due to his
conversations he probably would not have noticed. He said that for the -A" lunch, Brian Say remained at the table
They were joined by Mike Nalfeh, Mark Opher, Kent Foncannon, Tyrone (last name unknown) and Kenny Rupp,
He said that they were sitting at their table and that he had golten his food at approximately at 1110 hours. He
purchaseda Subway sandwich. He said that Mark Opher left out the door to upstairs by the library and left out
the faculty door. Shortly after he left the incident began. Owen said that inilially he did not hear any shots but
heard whal he thought were chairs falling down or muffled bangs. He sakllhat he turned behind him and looked
out the WIndow. He said that he looked out the window and saw three people. He said he saw two people lying
on the ground and as he looked out the window he saw anothersludent go down He said the male studentlhat
went down appeared as though he had been sholln the leg from the parking lot area. He said that the student
s wearing baggy shorts, blue jean style, a T-shirt which is dark In color, and he had short, blond hair. He said
mat he Immediatelyturned around to his friends and askedjlthey heard any gunshots. He said at aboutthe same
time he hear a male teacher yelling "get down, get down' He Immediately dropped down and got behind some
chairs. He s.ltd his initial response was just hide by Ihe chairs and he waited a minute or two and then he started
to move toward the stalnwell. He saiel that there were peoplecrawling and runningtoward the stairs. He said that
he got to the stairwell, he saw that the stairs were extremely crowded and he grabbed his friend Tyrone who was
standing there, and they ran down the foreign language hallway corridor. then directly to the doors He said that
when they got to the doors. he had lost Tyrone aiongthe way. Therewas a girl standing by the door, They paused
for a moment at the door and then the girl ran from the scnoct. He immediately followed her and he heard a
teacher yelling at them to stay in the school. The teacher then yelled to them to "get our and other students
startedto come out of the school. He said that he followed the girl and then lost her at some point as he across
the street into Leawood Park, He said that he eventually ended up at a friend's house that had stayed home for
lunch by the name of Eric Long, and that more students arrived at the house. He said that as they were at the
park, they had been told to run into the neighborhoods. He said that while they were at Eric's house, they were
able to hear more gunshots and they ran from that house thinking It was too close. He ended up knocl<!ng on
some neighbors homes and an older oouple let him Into the house along with other students.

Owen said that he was fairly sure that student he observed was shot in the leg and that he was bleeding.
He said he couldn't be sure about the other two that were laying on the ground. He could provide no description
of the two. He said that he did not see anyone shooting a gun and did not see any of the suspects outside the
window,
Owen said that he did not see anything unusual in the cafeteria Whilehe was ,n there for fourth hours and
a lunch, He did not notj~ any large, unattended duffle bags.
Owen said that his backpack 'IS a green Janspcrt, He said that it is a very big bag and that he carries all
of his bOOKS, a math book, a Spanish book. vocabulary book, journalism book, three large binders, several other
notebooks and his Texas Instruments calculator, Owen said that he was wearing a white shirt, Khaki pants, and
Dock Martin boots or shoes.
Owen said that he has hllard of the 'trench coat mafia' prior to the incident, However, he has had no
'ael with them and no Incidents that he has been involved in, He had heard that several weeks prior to the
incident that there was going to be a fight between the "trench coat mafia" and the jocks, He never heard of
anything coming of it and wasn't aware of any fight. He said that usually there are 'trench coat mafia" students
silting at a table near the door. He identified thallable as 'UU·, He said normally there IS a dark, blond-haired
students that wears black cargo pants and a trench coal, has sunglasses, is fairiy skinny and has a paie
complexion, Owen believes he is a junior al the school and is unaware 01 his name. He said that one time while
they were in the cafeteria he had heard other students from across the way leasing this 'trench coat mafia"
member.
Owen does not know of any students with double-pierced eyebrows. He does have Intemel access but
does not have a user name or ICO account. He says that he has not seen anything about the "lrench coat mafia"
on the Internet and hasn't tried to access their sites Owen could provide no further informalion to the
investigation.

On 5/5/99, Johnathan OWens, DOB 6/10/82, 5409 West
Hinsdale Avenue, Littleton, Colorado, was advised of the identity
of the interviewinq Aqent, and the nature and purpose of the
interview. He was interviewed in the presence of l1i& Mother,
Mary Ann Owens, DOB 7/3/57. He provided the followinq
information.
On 4/20/99, John arrived at Columl:>ine Hi..h School at
approximatelY 7:00 a.m. He went directly to the cafeteria, and
sat by himself at table JJ or MM. He didn't notioe any duffel
ba..s or baokpacks that stood out to him or looked unusual. At
7:30 a.m., he went to a computer class to assist a teacher with
this class. Afterwords, he went to his normal classes.
His last class prior to first period lunch was his
history class, that let out at approximately 11:10 a.m. From
here, John went directly to the caflllteria. He bouqht his lunch
at the school store, and walked to table SB, which is near the
windows on the west side of the cafeteria. He was seated with
the followinq individuals.

As he was eat in.. lunch, he noted that several students Were
standinq up and lookinq out the west windows of the cafeteria.
He also looked out the windows, and observed a student whom he
couldn't identify with a blood oovered Ie.. runnin.. towards the
baseball liiamond. Next he saw a qunman at the bottom of the
stairs on the west side ot the cateteria dressed in black
clothing, however not in a black trench coat. The qunman had on
black pants, a black shirt, and lonq blond hair (neck lenqth).
The gUnman pointed a sawed off shotgUn towards the qround and
tired once. He then got down on tne tloor, and as he did, he
heard an explosion in the sehool parkin.. lot. Teachers and
janitors were yelling for students to get down. John crawled
halfway to the stairs near tne trophy case, and then ran to the
stairs, and heard qunfire at the top ot the stairs. Instead of
..oin.. up the stairs, he ran down the foreiqn langUage hallway
with many other students. He and a qroup ot stuclents went into
the last classroom on the left next to the exit. There were also

two teachers in this olassroom. A student named JUlie Brunoff
attempted to call 911, however the line was hUsy, They were in
this classroom approximately two-three minutes, and then the
teachers dircted them out of the school, across the parking lot,
and south to the first house to the south of the school on
Pieroe. There were many students in this house, and after five
or ten minutes 'he left and a stUdent driving a small car
(possihly white in color) gave John and a few other unidentified
students a ride into the neighl>orhood, and went to the house of
yet another unidentified student. John stated that he thinks
that the student thet gave him a ride looked like a student in
the 1998 yearbook in the Trench coat Hafia photo, The stUdent he
pointed to was Brian Sargent.
John did not see Harris or Klebo1d around school on
either Monday or Tuesday. He actually didn't know lI:lebold or
Harris per se, however he thinks that in the past he has seen
them and other TCM: students around the school. He didn't know
very much about the TCM:, but has haard that they can gat drugs
and guns.
John does use the Internet, and has a screen name of
surfer 211:1.. He does not have an ICQ, and doesn't utilize chat
rooms.

on 5/21/99, Johnathan Owens, DOS 6/10/82 was advised of

the identity of the interviewing Agent, and the nature and
purpose of the interview. He was interviewed in the presence of
his Mother, Mary Ann Owens, DOS 7/3/57. He provided the
fOllowing information.

A previous interview conducted with Johnathan on

5/5/99, was referenced, and a copy of the 302 provided for him to
review. Specific reference in the body of the 302 was made to
his viewing a gunman at the bottOM of the stairs Qutside the west
side of the cafeteria that pointed a sawed off shotgun at the
ground and fired. He was then shown a series of photographs in a
photo lineup in order to determine if any of these photographs
were of the same individual that he saw on 4/20/99, previously
referenced. He positively identified Dylan Klebold as the
individual that he saw on that day.
specific reference was also made in the body of the 302
to Johnathan being given a ride after the incident by a student
that he thought might have been srian Sargent. He was then shown
another Series of photographs in a photo lineup in order to
determine is any of these photographs were.of the same individual
that gave him a ride on 4/20/99. He positively identified Brian
sargent as being tne driver of tne car.
