How we feed our Chickens

Our chickens are fed assorted vegetables, fruit, greens ,grains. Their favorite treat is swiss chard and believe it or not, they LOVE Weeds! We also feed them bugs & Grubs and meal worms for protein . Did you know that each meal worm contains 12 grams of protein? We raise our own mealworms . Nothing goes to waste: We crush up the recycled egg shells and feed them to the chickens, its a great source of calcium and they love it! its like chicken candy! We put apple cider vinegar in their water because it promotes good health for their intestine and keeps parasites away. We do not use poison , We treat the coop naturally: We dust the coop with a natural product , food grade Diatomaceous earth, We do not use any pesticides in our yard.

About Apple cider vinegar:

Adding apple cider vinegar directly to your chickens drinking water can help to maintain digestive health by lowering the pH in their stomach. It can also act as an antiseptic, killing any harmful mucus or bacteria in the throat that can cause respiratory ailments..

About Diatomaceous earth:

We use Food grade Diatomaceous in our coop and nesting areas, it is a white powdery substance Mined from deposits from prehistoric freshwater lakebeds, Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth consists of finely milled silica shells of ancient microscopic freshwater plants called diatoms. Examples of Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth Uses for Pets & People: Flea control, human health benefits, organic pest control, bed bugs, pet food health supplement, cat litter odor control and whiter teeth! Dogs, Cats, Birds, Rabbits.. They need DE for Fleas, Ticks, Ear Mites..even worming and as a health supplement to add to their pet food. Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth is a mainstay for organic pest control on farms. DE is used heavily by organic farms partly because of its organic nature, but DE is also used by non-organic growers for pest control because DE (Fossil Shell Flour) is so effective, and garden insects never become immune. DE kills bugs physically, not chemically. Farms and ranches use Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth as a feed supplement for animals and livestock for better health. DE is also recommended by veterinarians as a health supplement when added daily to pet food, and as a topical flea control treatment. Food Grade DE can also be found

in food that is eaten by most people every day, as DE is widely used and FDA approved for use by the nation's farms in agricultural grain storage. Diatomaceous Earth kills by physical action, not chemical. The tiny diatoms scratch off the insect's waxy coating, and dehydrate it. DE is also an effective organic wormer and will kill any worms or parasites the pets may have. When using as a daily pet food supplement or as a safe wormer, mix Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth with pet food Control of fleas and ticks Stimulates basic metabolism Converts feed better Reduces the desire to lick soil Scouring or diarrhea: when fed it seems to act as a material that draws both virus and bacteria out of the body and solidifies the stool Reduces odor and moisture in barns and stalls Better coat and hoof condition Keeps fly larvae from developing in manure, noticeably reducing the fly population Reduces annual vet bills--decreased mortality In cattle: decreased mastitis Dairy cattle: Increased milk production Kills parasites without chemicals Better egg production, stronger eggs, and reduces overall animal stress Added to livestock waters, will prevent algae from growing
