At the moment of time, Coastal Erosion has become a major problem of the coasts worldwide especially to our country.

It is having a negative impact on housing, fishing, tourism and other aspects of the economy. Coastal erosion is the wearing a way of land and the removal of beach or dune sediments by wave action, tidal currents, wave currents, or drainage (see also beach evolution). Waves, generated by storms, wind, or fast moving motor craft, cause coastal erosion, which may take the form of long-term losses of sediment and rocks. There is important to know about the coastal erosion especially how the coastal erosion occurred and factors that influence the erosion rate. The main ideas of coastal erosion process are corrosion, attrition, solution and hydraulic action. Firstly, corrosion process is when materials carried by waves thrown repeatedly against a coast, they gradually erode the coast. Second, Attrition process is when materials are carried in waves, they collide with one another. Eventually, the materials break down into smaller pieces and become smoother and more rounded over time. Third, solution process is a wave reacts chemically with the soluble minerals in the rocks along the coast and dissolves them. Over time, the coast becomes weakened and is eroded. Finally, hydraulic action process is the force of moving water currents rushing into a crack in the rock face or cliff face. In the other hands, the factors that influence erosion rates are type of wave, nature of coastal rock, impact of human activities and the gradient of the coast. The destructive waves cause more erosion those constructive waves which have more powerful backwash than swash. Nature of the coastal rocks can divided into two terms which are in terms of mineral composition and in term of lines of weakness. The coasts that are made up of granite, basalt and dolomite are more resistance to erosion the coast that is made up of limestone, shale and clay. In contrast, the coastal rocks that have more lines of weakness will be more easily eroded than those with fewer lines of weakness. Next if the gradient of the coasts are steeper gradient, it will be tended to collapse faster. Lastly, human through their activities can speed up the process of coastal erosion for example construction work nearly the coastal area.

Related to conservation Coastal conservation is used throughout the world for many different purposes. It is a general term that refers to any activity taking place in the coastal zone, which has a specific purpose. It includes management for nature conservation which protection from coastal erosion and flooding amongst a wide range of other human uses. There are many techniques of coastal conservation including "hard" and "soft" construction and planning approaches. Hard construction is the more traditional response to erosion and involves the construction of structures which stop wave energy reaching the shore, or absorb and reflect the energy. The soft construction techniques have become more popular because of this. These techniques involve promoting natural systems such as beaches and salt marshes which protect the coast. Examples Coastal erosion on the World: An example of a cliffed coast is in north Wales where over years of the sea beating at the cliffs the houses on top have begun collapsing into the sea. With some of them you can even see inside as the entire backs of some of the houses have come off and have been launched over the clifftop that has been torn through by the ferocious sea.

The California coast, which has soft cliffs of sedimentary rock and is heavily populated, regularly has incidents of housing damage as cliffs erode. Damage in Pacifica is shown at left. Devil's Slide, Santa Barbara and Malibu are regularly affected.

Coastal erosion in Malaysia: PART of Muar's coastline, including 20 hectares of coastal farmland, has eroded since five years ago. The farms once belonged to residents who cultivated prawns and other aquaculture produce. Now the farms have been literally swept into the straits of Malacca. The eroded farmland spans 15 kilometers along the coastline, from Parit Penyengat to the Muar-Batu Pahat border. Parit Bulat Laut and Seri Menanti Laut are the worst hit, while much of the coastal forests were also lost. Opinion Based on my opinion, the coastal erosion problem should be taken seriously to prevent undesirable things especially to our beloved country. All sides must work together in order to solve this problem and ensure the problem does not recur in the future years. From what is seen, coastal erosion caused by the natural disasters but involvement of unplanned human activities has given serious implications to our coastal area which has affected the economic the socio-economic activities along coast-side. So, I hope everyone should take responsibilities to protect our beloved country for the next future generation.
