"Great solo 7 from Animal Collective founding member Panda Bear. Limited edition of only 350 for the UK and Eire. One of a four part 7 series to be released on various labels, and eventually collated as a Paw Tracks album in early 2011. The other 7s in the series to have been released so far have sold out within weeks of pre-orders announced. This is Panda Bears first solo offering since 2007s acclaimed Person Pitch album. Animal Collectives profile has been steadily rising, and has hit its highest peak yet since the release of their much-adored Merriweather Post Pavillion album in 2009."

contemplation and solemn expression paired with intellectual clarity. Each note has weight, and every sound a purpose. Unlike Naujoks' debut, True Life / In Flames completely relinquishes the use of any sort of electronically-generated sound. Instead, there is a consistent stylization of what one might call "organic sound." The figure of the bedroom producer is relieved here by that of the composer and pianist. There's a piano, played by Naujoks; there's the marimba of Martin Krause and then Naujoks' voice. This album could be designated as a suite with various movements, bracketed by the conspicuous reprise of its most song-like piece, "Moments I" and "Moments II," as well as by the economy of the unchanging instrumentation and the black and white cover photograph by Dirk Stewen that references the recording location: the Laeiszhalle of the Hamburg Philharmonic. Piano and marimba stand there on an almost cave-like stage, surrounded by music stands, microphones and stacked Egon Eiermann SE 68 SU chairs a company of genuine instruments. Again, Christian Naujoks embraces the world of contemporary music-loving connaisseurs. True Life / In Flames is a gift for all those hunting the unique, the deep, the outstanding. All's quiet at the beginning, as it is at the end.

Personal rip. Grado Black -> Technics SL-DD33 > Technics SU-V40 -> M-Audio Audiophile 2496 -> Recorded into Audacity (sample rate: 96KHz/sample size: 24bit) -> Ran through Clickrepair with Declick at 05 (some pops manually removed) -> Amplified as an album (0.1 as 'New Peak Amplitude') -> Converted to FLAC using dbpoweramp -> Tagged/artwork added.

After his self-titled debut of 2009, True Life / In Flames is the second album by Berlin-based Christian Naujoks. Recorded by Tobias Levin at the Laiszhalle Philharmony Hamburg. A dense concert atmosphere sets the tone. Stringent seriality is combined with a romanticism of the minor key which one also finds in a certain corner of modern 20th-century piano music, in the vein of Michael Nyman, Wim Mertens, Arvo Prt, John Cage and Gyrgy Kurtg. Intervju s francoskim hard core bendom Strong As Ten

Hi. You played last on Hellfest. How was it like? Hi Matej ! So yeah we played at Hellfest this year and to be honest it was cool. It was an opportunity for us to see some bands we really like for free :) . But just to be clear, Hellfest was not a goal for us. We still are a DIY band, we still play in squats, for benefit shows, we are more and less active in the scene (like organizing shows in our area even if its more and more difficult) etc.... It was kinda surrealistic for us to be there. But also it was an occasion to see how things go on in this kind of huge fest and it was worse to see. Can you say something about Strong As Ten? When did you start? Where are you from? SA10 did start in the early 2000s. We first played a sort of NYHC. At this time, we were into this kind of music (still today but not that much). Im the only original member, Im in from the very beginning and I could notice the differences between the beginning and now. Fab (the drummer) joined the band in 2003 or 2004. He was capable to play fast beats which was not the case of our previous drummer. Thats why weve decided to play some kind of fast/crossover music, something with blast beats. We all did enjoy it, we cover bands like Infest, later Nuclear Assault, S.O.D. and so on. Then Jojo (guitar player) joined us (first on bass) and finally Xtelle (from the band The Sioux) these last months. We are all from the same area. We know each other from high school (almost). Were a bunch of good friends and this is very important to us. Its not only about music, it goes beyond. SA10 changed his line-up quite a lot but were still linked to each other. We all live in Metz (North East part of France) which is a city where theres not much things to do. How are you pleased with the reception of No Redemption For The Kids?

Pretty pleased. If Im not mistaken, the record is almost sold out. I really do like this record, I mean gathering all these french bands was just great. Its a kind of testimony even if there are some really extra french bands who are not on this comp (Idiot Talk, Gasmask Terror, Youth Avoiders and so many more). The object is also really cool. From the artwork to the booklet inside, we are kind of proud to be on it. I really do hope people will be more interested in the french scene thanks to this record. Can you name all labels your work came out on? Wow, tough one. Most of our records were released thanks to loads of labels (something like 6 or 7). Its more and more common nowadays. In a way, its far easier to release a record when you know you can count on a lot of friends to put some money and energy in it. Releasing a record is expensive, so its more than ok if you wanna share the costs. I think its what punk HxC is about : helping each other. However, I would like to talk about a label called Shogun recs runs by a really cool fellow (Phil) who runs also an extra cool distro: Burnout. This guy released our second EP (the first one was a split with Shallnotkill, a french band), and also the last one which is about to be out in few weeks. He put some trust in us and were very thankful for everything he has done for us so far. What can you say about Krapnek? Extra band and upper duper extra fellows. We went on tour with them and it was such a pleasure. We shared also the bill on many occasion. Musically it was a mix between crust and death metal. One of the best band I ever played with SA10. And they are just great, all of the members are so nice and its always such a pleasure to meet them here or there. Some of the members have a new project called Uhl. Check it out dude, you wont regret (I think they toured last year in the Balkans). Do you know Arnold Vadoc, nocturnomotoculto, whenthedeaddietwice, tarantinovanessa, la fille aux ciseaux !, xFuckThatx, Remite, Ispitonyourgrave and An act of revenge.? Ahah what a name dropping. Obviously youve found all these names on Youtube right? I can only speak for when the dead die twice because... its me ! Thats how my (small) label is called (only 3 coproductions so far). I like to videotape gigs in our area and putting em on Youtube, its also a kind of testimony (I mentioned in the third question). Usually I used to record bands I like (most of the time during shows I did organise) and put everything on line. Of course I ask the band first if I can use what I taped but usually theres no problem.

Who directed We come, we thrash, we go? I did. All the footages are from our English tour in 2006 or something. I tried to match music and video thats why images are kinda fast , frantic. Its exactly how I consider our music : fast, no slow parts, always on the run ahah . It was also a good opportunity to make something to remember. Kind of memories of great times we spend together (well, most of the time). Can you say something about Not Alright video? This video was made by a friend of ours. He used to do this kind of video, he made some for the Austrasian Goat (french one man band) and Devilish Cheat (Metz all star band). It was a good surprise for us cuz we didnt ask anything I mean he was totally free to do everything he wants. Its cool to see how people get our music. For him, obviously, our music is made for dancing in a very odd way and a bizarre haircut ahah. What do you think about Songkick and Flickr? Well I dont really have any opinion on it. The only thing I can say is I dont use it. To be totally honest, I dont even know what is all about. What is trashcore? Well I cant say a lot about trashcore but I can try to explain what thrashcore is :) . Its basically a mix between hardcore and thrash metal like the early Municipal Waste. I dont really like this word. Its like you have to put the word core on everything and thats it. For me, theres thrash metal and theres hardcore. If you mix both, its basically crossover. Id rather use this term. i think its better like this. Talking about SA10, I like to think were too metal to be strictly a punk band but too punk to be a metal band. For most of us, our background is linked with metal (I started to be in music thanks to bands like Iron Maiden, the early Metallica and so on) , so i guess its something youll find on our music (in a really small amount however). Why do you like vinyl? Well for me, punk HxC means vinyl and vinyls are punk HxC. I would add that not only vinyls, we also like tapes. We would like to release our discography on tape, we talk about it for a while now. Vinyls with tapes were the first physical objects connected with punk HxC. At this time, there were no CDs or files to download. If you were into this kind of music, vinyls were a part of your life. You were waiting for the object. Its a kind of romantic vision. I mean , nowadays, you can get almost any music you want thanks to Internet, youll consume it and thats it. And I wont talk about the fact youll have no lyrics, no info sheets or anything else. I like also vinyls because of the sound. Its a kind of warm

sound, quite hard to explain but if youre into vinyls you probably know what I mean. What can you say about Koenigstein Youth and Lost Boys? Two really extra bands and good friends. We have shared bills so many times and it was always such a pleasure. We have also two splits 7 with them. Lost Boys unfortunately split up few month ago. They did a kind of old style punk in the vein of Circle Jerks. They did it very well. They got few records, if you dont know this band youd better check it out asap! Koenigstein Youth is a band from Saint Etienne and good fellows. We went on tour twice with them, it was really funny. I really do like these guys. Thrash (singer) is really active into the french scene (doing shows, running a label and so on...) and a really nice dude. They play a kind of political fast HxC with great lyrics sung in french. They deal with prison issues, globalization and so on... . They got 2 records if Im not mistaken.

Why New York style? We started playing a kind of NYHC style cuz its something we used to listen at this time. To be honest, I think that this genre was one of the best in the HxC punk history. You can find so many great bands linked with this scene (to name few Judge, SOIA, the first album of Leeway which is a masterpiece, YOT...). Musically this scene was really badass, but for the attitude its pretty different. I cant (couldnt) stand for something which deals with violence and so on. its maybe cool when youre 20 and full of anger and rage for any reason but not for me anymore. I did realise also that some of the lyrics in this scene deal with betrayal, backstabbing and so on and I think its kinda pretty boring. There will be a song on this subject on our last record. So stay tuned. Are you interested in releasing an EP for my fanzine release? It's mini CD-R in mini DVD case. Absolutely no problem. Anytime. Were more than interested in collaborating with people from all over the world. Thats what punk Hardcore should be right? It would be absolutely great if we could get some copies of it. What are your lyrics about. Do you sing in french too? Our lyrics deal with loads of things from my love for thrash metal, fashion in punk HxC, zombies... to more serious subjects like NATO, TV and other craps, living your life to the fullest and so on.

However, I always try to put some fun in my lyrics, Its something very important to me. All of our lyrics are in english except Nikada Vise, a song sung in serb. More and more I think about the opportunity to sing in french. In the near future, I guess it will happen. Do you remember a gig in Kranj? How many times have you been in Slovenia? Hell yeah, I do remember this gig. it was the last gig of our tour with Krapnek. We played in this huge area with an old pool, situated in a really cool location. I do remember also the turnout was pretty low but it was a night to remember. We had a lot of fun, people were outstanding. It was our first time in Slovenia, we played two times then (Kranj and Dravograd). We went to Slovenia again a year after (Dravograd again) thanks to our mates of Mladina Kina. It was a night to remember too : it was crazy, we all were in a flat with a skate spot, sweating just like if we were in hell. Absolutely great.

What is the crowd in France different from the one from Slovenia? Well the main difference is the crowd in France speaks french and the crowd in Slovenia speaks slovenian ahah. No, to be honest we played only three times in Slovenia and dozen and dozen of times in French so its hard to compare. But basically , Id say that kids in Slovenia are more dedicated and passionate. But we played two times in front of friends so maybe it was just thanks to them, I dont know. We definitely should come over again. Could you organise something for us? :) What do you think about Pussy Riot? I dont really know what to think about it. In my opinion, punk is about politic and its more than ok to use it to stand against something (in this case, against the russian government). In this case, Im totally for it, even playing in a church (even if the sound should be awful :) ). BUT what stroke me it that almost the whole world (politics, media, artists, journalists from the West) was suddenly aware of this kind of problems. The fact is, all over this planet, you can find bands in jail because of some lyrics, punk activists in danger only because they dont fit in the society where they live in. In Indonesia for example, you can go to camps to be re-educate because youre a punk. Nobody seems to give a rats ass to these people cuz its not in western interests to do something for them. Im very doubtful when a punk band gets some support from politicians (no matter where theyre from). Will you share a lyric with us? Well these lyrics will be on our next EP. The song is called Is this reality? Is this me? It will never come to an end, it seems it will never stop This pressure is killing me, a situation I can t cope with Gotta make a move, by all costs escape this daily grind But every fucking days the same, Im gonna lose my mind Another day goes by but my future still doesnt look bright Depression, sorrow and no reliefs in sight Alternatives no more, try to make a change But every fucking effort I make is leaving me out of breath Is this reality or it s only me? This is basically how I feel at this very moment. What do you have to say to our readers in Slovenia? Dont hesitate to send us a mail to say hello or to ask for anything. Hardcore is about communication. If we come to Slovenia again,

Do you know any bands from Slovenia? Unfortunately not that much. I know Mladina Kina cuz were friends with some of them. I was supposed to put a gig for them in my area but unfortunately they had to cancel. What about your home town. Any good bands? Some labels? Well the situation here is not really good. Theres no venue where to organise shows (I used to move 70kms away to have a descent venue where to organise gigs), the turnout is quite low (Im talking about the punk HxC scene). In my opinion, there are only few good punk HxC bands here. You can find The Sioux with Fab and Jojo, DCA (a band in the vain of Madball, with a lot of beatdown, well done) and thats it. Concerning labels, Ill mention Farce attack (not really from this town), bunch of kids who are really active. And basically thats it for me.

dont hesitate to show up and speak with us, were always more than happy to meet new people. Just keep on being crazy at shows. And a special xtra big thank for our friends in Dravograd and for you Matej. I hope well have the opportunity to see each other. All the best ! And dont forget : Have a good time, all the time.

What do you mean? Of course we are! Berlin and Madrid are two cities where we've been playing many times, we've already been touring everywhere in europe, up to north Sweden, Serbia, Poland, Greece...and also Mexico and United States. How many times have you been in Slovenia? Do you remember last time? I'm notsure if it's three or four time but I perfectly remember last time! We had a big crash with our van on the highway around Ljubljana on the way to Varazdin ... The only one time such a thing like that happen to us! By chance nobody get really hurt and our instruments were quite ok with pieces of broken windscreen everywhere...we stayed at Metelkowa at our friend Sacho place where we played twice, he was very nice but we were all so chocked that we drunk a lot! I almost killed myself a second time falling down on the stage from the first floor...! A friend came from france with another van to take us back home and after a two weeks rest I decided to return to check out my destroyed van so I stayed one week again in Metelkowa "repairing" it and everybody had been really cool again there! And this van bring us on tour again to England and Holland few weeks after. Many people share your videos on Youtube. Do you know them? Is there an official video from Sonic Angels out there? Maybe not, we put some of them on reverbnation.com/sonicangels. On 12th this month you were playing inn London. How was it? Awesome, I mean for what I know about playing in London... We had four gigs and pretty good weather having fun with good friends, the first gig was at The Dublin Castle in Camdem town with 3 more bands but not so many people, then the Trash bar in Hackney, really cool punk rock place and good party, then the Dusk Till Dawn with an italian band and the Ryan's bar where we played with Atomic Suplex and with our friends The Ricky C Quartet. Can you say something about global sixties revival scene?

Intervju s francoskim bendom Sonic Angels

Hey Matej! Very sorry to make you wait, but here it is... We just passed this weekend with the Subsonics from Atlanta and played with them at the Subsonic! And of course were little bit busy again...let me know if it's ok for you, thanks for your interest! Bye from Marc Why Sonic Angels? Well...we wanted to be good, I mean in good waves, just wanted to have fun doing rock and roll and sharing our points of view traveling around; that what the angels do right? and of course it's all about sound! You're from France, but you sing in english. How come? Rock and roll almost always came to us in english , I think it's a big part of it, and it's a way to talk to many more people; we dont feel particuraly french and love to play everywhere we can; "rock" and "roll" are already english words no? Are you an international band?

Well..everybody want to play boogaloo now, having party with easy simple rhythm and dirty or garage sound, I think it's cool by the way, but I dont like too much fashions things and we keep going with Sonic Angels sound! On Bandcamp you sell your music. Did you earn something? Of course no! Maybe one day! I think it's more a promotion tool, a page where you can check out our production. Which were more influental for you. Sixties or seventies? Both are strong influences and fit so well together...maybe I'm more in the seventies side and Sylvie in the sixties side. Can you name five bands from France that play the same music style as you? From what I know nobody else in France play the music we do but I can name you five good bands from France we like to play with : Introverted Violence, The Magnetix, Flying Over, Marvin, Ofo Am. You can find them on the web. What is the current lineup? Did you have some problems with drum players? Today Sonic Angels are Sylvie Martin on bass and vocal, Stphane Doucerain on drums and Marc Hacquet on guitar and vocal. It's true that we had many different drummers in the band, even sometimes two drums on stage; drums are quite hard to play and very important in a rock and roll band and we really toured a lot these last years, rock and roll is not always the only one thing in life and everybody cant always be disponible so it's cool for us to have different possible line. You don't have a Last.fm description. Why? I dont know, maybe to much vintage sound for FM; in fact I dont know what is Last.fm! Who is responsible for promotion? We almost do everything by ourself, I mean all we can do, promotion, booking, recording, driving, design and many more! Are Marc and Sylvie a couple? Yes ! We met us together in the eighties, went to live in Madrid and latter started Sonic Angels in

2005 with our friends Pascale and Elodie on drums. Were Dead Moon a huge influence for you? Not really, but they are a perfect exemple of rock and roll couple and I'm proud when people say we make think of them.

Do you know croatian band The Spoons? No, not yet, I will check out. Can you say something about Speed Records? Speed Rcds is our own label and recording studio too, we start it in spain in the middle nineties where we were living at this time, I was doing mainly live recording and since 2001, based at the Subsonic in Montpellier, I recorded more than 300 bands; unfortunatly we dont have enough money to put out many records, and we want to stay in a non profit attitude. Was it hard to get a record deal? We still are looking for one! Do you have any idea? What will your next release be? We are about to put out a new 7 inch with four songs we recorded this last summer called "Hungry man". Can you say something about Subsonic? Subsonic is the place to rock in Montpellier! with rehearsal rooms, live recording room,

merchandising and distro place, bar...More than one hundred bands from our area are coming to practice there; we start the project comming back from spain and it's quite a big job now and take a lot of time. When are you gonna come back to Slovenia? We hope to come back soon, dont really know when, we plan to tour again in United states in march, maybe after that, and I'm sure it will be fun! Do you remember Viva La Pola! 2005? Oh yeah! We drove all the way from Serbia and played very late the same day, right after a hard rain... Does it still exist? Thanx.

desperation. Punk shows and activities are actually some kind of a celebration of desperation-we are obsessed with the shit of this world, we scream out angry lyrics and we actually enjoy doing this and we protect our mental health by doing so. Such a paradox. Some time later weve started understanding the name also in connection to booze and other forms of escapism. Can you say something about the history of the band? Paaya: The band was basically founded by our first vocalist Mirek (he also runs Ultima Ratio label/distro). In summer 2002 he caught up with me and also Vpno (our drummer) and with our original bass player Kamil. These two used to play together in a punk rock band called RAZIE. We wanted to play fast and noisy hardcore with meaningful lyrics. We didnt even much know how to do it. We simply created some spontaneous chaos, a mixture of music that we listened to ourselves and how we imagined that raw punk should sound like. It was quite wild, there actually wasnt any really fast band in Brno in that time. We recorded and released a demo tape called Prvnich... After a year Marek joined us for 2nd guitar and we recorded another demo 12 songs within less than 9 minutes. It has remained unreleased until now. We never played that much outside of Czech and Slovakia. The only proper tour was in winter 2004 together with S.I.K.A. from Bratislava Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia and Italy. After this tour Mirek left the band after some stupid quarrels and shortly after him also Kamil was told to leave. MateSS and Miruus came to their places. The period of 2004-2006 was very rich, we recorded another demo (later reissued as a 7 EP) and our first 7 vinyl, we played quite many shows and practiced regularly. Then things started going down the drain, 2008 was totally shitty and most of us had some bigger or smaller personal problems for which the band couldnt have worked properly. For two years we actually had no drummer and were unable to find a new one. In the meantime we would practice the same old songs every once in two months until we

Intervju s ekim HC bendom Festa Desperato

What does Festa Desperato mean? Paaya: Its an incorrect Latin translation. It should mean something like Celebration of

finally recorded them with a guest drummer (Tom from RISPOSTA) and were ready to quit the band for good. Then our original drummer Vpno comes to HELLSHOCK concert and says I heard you guys were looking for a drummer? So we tried it again, we played a couple of shows, made some new songs (in my opinion some of the best ones weve ever done) but weve never managed to get back to the original form, at least when it comes to the enthusiasm, practicing... Therefore weve called it quits in spring 2012, provided that we would record our latest songs in August. Did you record those last songs in August? Who was the drummer? When will it be released? And where? Paaya: Yeah, it was exhausting, but we managed. One month before the recording our drummer had dropped it so we had to quickly teach all the songs to Gusta (otherwise drummer for some local bands like S.U.M.O., KORUBO, COREBASTARDS etc.) and he managed perfectly thanks a lot once again! Our vocalist MateSS wouldnt come to the studio at all in the end (I still havent understood why), so we had to improvise in this and do it a bit Beatles-style: every one of us made vocals to a part of the songs. Surprisingly enough, I find the result damn good. If all works out fine, wed like to release the recording by the beginning of 2013 as a 7 EP called Alergie. By ourselves. It makes no sense to involve other people in the release if were able to do it ourselves (both Marek and Miruus have small DIY labels/distros and I will also pretend that I have one, just for the sake of this record, haha). Moreover, in case of a dead band that doesnt play any shows anymore like FD releasing a vinyl is a very tricky investment and I dont find it fair to cast the risk on anyone else so that they remain with boxes of unsold records in the end. The pressing will be very small, about 300 copies. Can you say FTWPRAHA? something about

at Google I wouldnt even know that such a website exists. I follow Periferia.cz and Czechcore.cz quite regularly, once upon a time I check Kidsandheroes.com or sometimes Punk.cz if I want to have a laugh. Thats it. Internet punk is not my life. Do you know Alcoholocrust, Lakme666, rozbojniczka666, disgustedjohn and lahvotekk that are sharing your videos on Youtube? Miruus: No, I have absolutely no idea who they are in reality.... Paaya: Yeah, I know who hides behind most of these usernames. Is it important?

What do you think about Anti-Commerce blog that is sharing your EP? Paaya: Yeah, I know about it. I dont care much. Even though it would have been nice from the guy to ask our permission. I honestly dont think that releasing DIY records in minimal numbers of copies and selling them for a price that barely pays back your costs, can be called commerce, on the other hand I admit that there are many countries in the world where people can hardly find any other way of getting music than downloading it and I do not find it fair to expect punks from Indonesia, Macedonia or Chile to order vinyls that mean

Paaya: Not at all... If you wouldnt have asked about them and I wouldnt search for the name

much more of an expense for their pockets than they do for ours. What do you think about Last.fm as a substitute to Facebook and Myspace? Paaya: Just about the same as I think about TOP 09 as a substitute for ODS and CSSD (most powerful Czech political parties). Same bullshit under a different name. I couldnt care less about what websites people use for wasting their time. Thats not my world. Miruus: I really would like to write more, but I dont care, sorry. Can you say something about Disclose? Miruus: Its been my favourite band since I was 17. I dont like the whole disbeat selfparody attitude, but DISCLOSE are still OK for me, Im gonna play them today. Paaya: Their early discography tape that once came out on Insane Society Recs. was together with MRTVA BUDOUCNOST tape my first really noisy recording I bought, so I definitely have positive attitude to that band. When I later first heard DISCHARGE Hear nothing... I was disappointed because DISCLOSE had made me used to a totally different level of noise. Conquest is a great song, just that when we played it as a cover some people used to have a funny habit of starting fights after it, haha. That DISCLOSE mania after Kawakamis death seemed a bit stupid to me, especially that for many years not many people were actually interested in DISCLOSE over here. But thats life... What is/was your style? Fastcore, crust? Paaya: Fastcore surely not, crust maybe partially yes. For me it was simply noisy, fast, pissed and raw hardcore punk. Let the reviewers bother with details. What was the reception of Psi Vatiknu like? Paaya: Well as far as I know, reviews in zines and in the Internet were generally positive. But I dont think it sold many copies, though its no

wonder as we only played some 7 shows since its release. I think its a good record. Can you say something about Cheeky Distribution? Paaya: I dont know much about them. I think its a guy from central/eastern Slovakia who copies punk videos. I only know that he offers that live DVD of FD, BETON and HIPPIE KILLER from Spisska Nova Ves from 2006. That was a crazy show. Probably the funniest thing about it was the final fight between these macho hooligans from Poprad and this huge lumberjack sound guy. But you cant find that on the video. Otherwise the concert was pure shit, music-wise. Well, punk rock...

What is GZ Vinyl? Paaya: Its a vinyl record pressing plant near Prague, one of the biggest ones (the biggest one?) in the world. Bands from all over the world press their records there, from DIY bands to world-famous pop stars. Most Czech bands (including FD) press their records there (logically quality is great and shipping is cheap). If you were interested, small labels often find it better to get in touch with mediators such as Pirates Press or xVinylx they mostly get better prices than you could get

from the pressing plant directly, moreover they are people more or less connected to hc/punk scene and they know how things work. But it is not the only pressing plant in Europe so stay calm...

Miruus: As for Czech crust my most favourite bands are already dead (DREAD101, MASS GENOCIDE PROCESS, V.I.R.) but there are some good bands today like KRGER, FEAR OF EXTINCTION, TOMORROWS HELL or I should also mention veterans HOW LONG?. Most bands think they play crust, but in reality its bad death metal or Wolfbrigade for poor, often with empty lyrics and/or bullshit attitude. What is the music scene in Brno like? Paaya: Well I guess youre asking about underground punk/hc I dont know much about other music scenes because they do not interest me. A positive thing about Brno is that there are lots of more or less interesting bands and also several freaks who keep on drawing great bands from outside to play shows here. Even when it comes to some kind of infrastructure or background, its not bad. Many things are not perfect and work only thanks to the indulgence and effort of a few enthusiastic people who still have enough power to struggle with obstacles and ignorance. But the result is that in spite of all that Brno still has lots of activities that are everything but a matter of course. I would appreciate more enthusiasm, more ability to distinguish what matters (radical ideas, creative activities, authenticity...) and what does not (image, number of Facebook friends, booze...) but I might just be expecting too much from people. I should be thankful for what we have. Next year everything can be gone. If youre interested in something particular you should find Spalte Brno na prach compilation LP from 2008 or its sequel called Brno stle v plamenech that will be released in December 2012! What D.I.Y. labels do you have? Paaya: You mean in Brno? As for real labels/distros I can think of four. Voltage Records is the youngest one of them (since 2009) but very active. MAD PIGS vocalist Martino runs it and he also runs a regular record shop with lost of great records, mostly for pretty fair prices. He has recently (re)released for instance SEE YOU IN HELL, CRUDE SS, ACIDEZ, DISARM, SVART

What is Czech crust scene like? Can you name some of the bands? Paaya: Ive had the feeling that recent Czech crust is mostly uninteresting and empty. Both musically and content-wise. To put it a bit simplified, I understand crust as some kind of a direct continuation of anarchopunk, just darker, filthier and heavier. Contemporary crust in Czech reminds me often rather of some village pogo metal. Both by music and by peoples attitude. To name some better ones... I like RISPOSTA, EVIDENCE SMRTI, HOW LONG? and S.U.M.O. a lot. A little bit less but still I like FEAR OF EXTINCTION, TOMORROWS HELL or POLTERGEIST. I heard a lot of good words about KUTYA HARAP but havent had the chance to see them live yet. Otherwise I really like some older bands from 1990s and 2000s, such as LIES & DISTRUST, DREAD 101, V.I.R., KORUBO, BASTO, GUIDED CRADLE... Also MASS GENOCIDE PROCESS used to be nice when they had a good day.

FRAMTID, TOTAL CHAOS, EVACUATE and others (www.voltage-shop.com) Papagjv Hlasatel Records has been active since 1990s and in the last years it went professional (i.e. from an expensive hobby it turned into a means of living similarly to Voltage Records) and theyve recently been releasing one record after another mostly punk rock, both local and international (check their website, its too much to list www.phr.cz) Miruus from FD has his own Miruus Levyt label hell probably tell you more himself. Our original vocalist Mirek has (or had) a label/distro called Ultima Ratio, which once used to release awesome records of both local and foreign bands, mostly quite obscure, but really interesting, moreover very well made. In the last years hes been going through some stagnation, which is a shame. I dont mention any more labels because theyre rather individuals who contribute financially to their friends releases in cooperation with other labels, but they are not real labels in the proper meaning of the word (Hlubok Orba, Refugiado, Ultra Doom Taliban atd.) Yeah and our guitarist Marek runs a label/distro Gasmask Records (www.maskcontrol.com) - lately quite active, mostly releasing dirty and raw hardcore/punk (DROPEND, VIIMEINEN KOLONNA, FATUM, DISTRESS, DAD, LEBENDEN TOTEN etc.) Miruus: I have a small label called Miruus Levyt (www.miruuslevyt.cz), I try to release some raw, angry and loud protest hardcore/crust. Since Im more or less skint I do it mostly in label cooperation or for my own bands But next year Ill probably release some 7 or flexi of any yet unknown band. Im also waiting for MASS GENOCIDE PROCESS LP, Brno stle v plamenech compilation LP and prepare a new issue of my zine called Smrt. Why have you abandoned Myspace? Paaya: Well one thing is that Myspace got technically so fucked up and it stopped making sense using it, as half of its features worked slowly or not at all. Another thing is that none of us really enjoy Myspace, Facebook and similar social networks. They distract attention from real things towards virtual crap. If

someone is really interested they will surely make the effort to find us even outside some cop-like network. Miruus: I ask myself why did we join Myspace at all. How many downloads did you list on 4 Shared? Miruus: Im very sorry, but I have almost nothing to say about our virtual presentations, mp3 downloading, social networks etc. Please burn all computers. Paaya: On what??? What do you think about 18.057? Paaya: About what???

Why are you vegans? Paaya: The term vegan is not really exact in my case and it doesnt even matter to me. I eat vegan most of the time, with the exception of honey that I dont mind, but I have no problem to swallow vegetarian non-vegan food that would otherwise end up in garbage (or that has already been taken out from there). What is so pathetically being called livestock production, this industrial slaughter, is one of the biggest atrocities of our civilization while it just as a

lot of other shit depends only on support or rejection from its consumers. Miruus: I couldnt say that Im vegan. Sometimes I eat some shit with cheese or ice cream where there is milk, but mostly only when I have really bad hangover or when I havent eaten anything for a long time. Fortunately it does not happen very often. The rest of the time I dont use it, because I dont need it. Well the answer to your question could be a question too: Why not? I only respect the animals lives and refuse the whole meat industry, thats all. What do you think about Pussy Riot? Miruus: I was a fan of Voina, it was more close to me, but I respect them too. Of course there is a big media campaign around it, but this entire circus shows how fucked up Russian regime and church are. But never mind, the Czech level of arrogance of power is not so far away. Paaya: The girls consciously provoked a sleeping monster and if they were not stupid they probably must have guessed that it could end up bad. But maybe they got smacked harder than they expected. Its more than clear that the issue was not any affront to anyones religious feelings but them daring to point at the connection between secular power and power of the keys in Russia. Its funny to watch how it suits some public figures books to have the chance to point at what a non-democratic and reactionary monster Russia is and thus distract attention from their own regional affairs. However, PR have my respect and I hold my fingers crossed for them. But these things happen also in seemingly democratic states this should not be forgotten. When was your last show. In 2010? What was it like? Miruus: No, it was March 2012, during the way from a gig, in a dark forest, sitting in a car we agreed on our death. The gig was pretty nice, even though I forgot my bassguitar there.

Paaya: No, I just havent updated the English version of the website since 2010, haha! We played our last show in spring 2012 in Vysoke Myto with BEARTRAP (USA), WITCH CULT (UK), STOLEN LIVES and MORROW. There were about 30 people in the audience, the sound was resonating from the opposite climbing wall and high ceiling and no one danced. Foreign bands played great. On the way back we agreed to call it quits amidst dark Moravian forests sitting in a freezing car. Are there some new bands members of Festa Desperato? from

Paaya: Officially not yet, but some plans are being made already! Give me some more time! Miruus: I plan to have a new band, more raw punk, but I will see if it works. I also play in RISPOSTA.

NOT PART OF THE INTERVIEW, I SUPPOSE: Can I release some of your lyrics? Of course! Would you be interested in releasing a limited edition mini CD-R with my fanzine? Why not! It depends how do you imagine that. Let me know what your idea is!
