Present perfect talking about experiences. Often with ever and never.

Have you ever stayed in a hotel?


(= Do you have the experience of staying in a hotel=)

Yes, I have. (= Yes, at some, time in my life, but its not important when. No, I havent. Ive never stayed in a hotel.
You form the present perfect with has/have + past participle. You usually use the contracted form, ve or `s. Present perfect talking about Unfinished events: for and since. Unfinished events: Something that you started in the past and continues now.

Ive lived in New York all my life. (= I still live in New York=)
You use for to talk about how long something has continued.

Ive been hero for an hour.


You use since to talk about when something started.

Ive lived here since I was five.
