DigitalPersona Pro License Information Tool ------------------------------------------Readme File October 2006 The DigitalPersona Pro License Information Tool

is a program that collects the d omain information necessary for DigitalPersona to issue User Authentication Lice nses for DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory Server. Each DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory Server license consists of a specif ied number of User Authentication Licenses enabling that number of users to auth enticate to a DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory Server in a specified doma in. The information collected by the License Information Tool is saved as a text-bas ed file with a .dplif extension, which can be read with the Windows Notepad or a ny text editor. The only information collected is shown in the following sample: 1 somedomain.com {909155A8-D795-4BDE-92B6-1C5FABB181E6} // The product license version // The domain name // The GUID for the domain

Note When upgrading from DigitalPersona Pro for Active Directory version 3.5, Us er Authentication Licenses must be obtained for all registered and prospective u sers. In order for DigitalPersona to issue a requested license, domain information nec essary to bind the license to the domain must be collected and sent to DigitalPe rsona, Inc. Running the License Information Tool -----------------------------------The License Information Tool is an executable that can be run from wherever it i s downloaded to. The tool does not have an installer or require set-up software. The License Information Tool can be run from any Windows 2000/XP workstation or Windows 2000/2003 server that belongs to a domain. To run the program: 1. In Windows Explorer, click LicInfo.exe to launch the License Information Tool . 2. Make sure that the desired domain is selected and then click the Get License Info button. 3. The License Information Tool collects the domain information that it needs an d prompts you to save the information into a file by displaying the Save As dial og. 4. Type a file name that will identify the file as belonging to your company and what domain it refers to. The file must have a .dplif extension. 5. Click Save to save the file. 6. Request a license for the domain by sending the file as an attachment in an e mail containing your Purchase Order # for the number of User Authentication Lice

nses needed and address it to dplis@digitalpersona.com; or contact your DigitalP ersona Sales Account Manager. 7. This procedure must be followed for each domain. Connecting to a domain ---------------------When the License Information Tool is run the first time, by default it will conn ect to the domain that the currently logged on user belongs to. If that domain is not the domain that you want to collect license information fo r, you can select a different domain, as long as that domain has a trust relatio nship with the current domain. Changing the domain ------------------1. Click the Change Domain button to display the Connect to Domain dialog. 2. Type the domain name that you want to connect to, or click Browse to select a nother domain. Only trusted domains are shown in the Browse for Domain dialog. 3. If you want to connect to this domain the next time that License Information Tool runs, select Connect to this domain the next time you run this tool. 4. Click OK to connect to the domain and close the dialog. Viewing the program s Digital Signature --------------------------------------The License Information Tool is signed with a DigitalPersona Digital Signature.
