Dear KA Gentlemen, I hope this letter finds you in good health and doing well. I also hope you are just as excited as we are to be back at San Diego State University. The brothers of the San Diego State chapter are excited for this upcoming semester and are prepared and full of ambition to make Kappa Alpha Order the model fraternity at SDSU. We are currently a provisional chapter and are hoping to become an active chapter by spring 2014. Over the past few weeks, we have been recruiting, appointing officer positions, and have started working together to make this chapter successful with the help of Dustin Brann, Andrew Carr, and Nick Palmer from the Kappa Alpha Order National Office. Along with getting started, we are proud to say that our group of gentlemen is ready to show our community what KA represents and stands for. While currently making sure we fulfill the duties we must accomplish before becoming an active charter, we have been planning and looking into doing some our first events this upcoming fall. Although our events are tentative at the time here are some events we look forward to hosting: rush week 2013, alumni tailgate at the SDSU homecoming football game, philanthropic event, and many more events that will show our community who we are. As we get further into the semester and get more planning done, we will send each alumnus more details through newsletters and will also be posting it on our Facebook and twitter pages. In this newsletter, you can find information regarding our chapter status, current officers, committee chairs, inducted members, and upcoming events. For further information or any concerns or ideas you may have that will benefit the gamma iota chapter at SDSU, please feel free to contact me through email at sdsu.ka.num.5@gmail.com or by phone at (951) 640-0097. Fraternally, Jesse Higareda, Number V

Presidents Message
In order to attain our status as an active chapter of KA, the members understand the need to recruit the most outstanding gentleman on the campus. Throughout the next year we will be actively recruiting to attain fifty members as well as successfully create three philanthropy events for local charities and MDA. I would like to invite all alumni to any and all events in order to show the progress that our chapter has made. I am looking forward to a productive and successful year. -Jesse Berg, Number I

KA in the Community
Although we just started this provisional chapter, the brothers of KA are ready to show the community who we are and what we represent. Planned for this upcoming fall semester are some events to show SDSU and the surrounding community who we are. We will do this by hosting a food drive, blood drive, and potentially having our first MDA event. If you have any ideas, please feel free to contact us through email!
Chapter Progress
Over the past few weeks we have been full of excitement and ambition to bring the Gamma Iota chapter back to SDSU. Currently, we are working together to complete phase one of the provisional chapter. With the help of Dustin Brann, Nick Palmer, and Andrew Carr we were able to successfully start the process of completing these tasks. With their help we were able to induct sixteen gentlemen and appoint our nine officers. Our goal is to complete all three phases by spring 2014. With our ambition, dedication, and aim for excellence we will successfully reach our goals and make KA the model fraternity at SDSU.
Brotherhood
In the upcoming weeks, we plan to have the brothers come together to build our letters. We wish to use this brotherhood time in order to allow the brothers to get to know each other some more before jumping into the fall semester. If you have any ideas for brotherhood events, please feel free to contact us and give us input!
