VETERANS ADMINISTRATION MEDICAL CENTER, New York Dec, 2000 Present [The VAMC employs 1,300 people and is part of a network of government health care facilities comprised of 6 medical centers and 30 community-based clinics that serves veterans in Upstate New York.] Laboratory Quality Assurance Coordinator (2008 Present) [40 hours/week] Appointed to lead quality assurance program for the medical centers Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Clinical Department. Collect and analyze data on approximately 75 monitors that demonstrate internal processes of the medical centers laboratory and 4 additional laboratories within the VISN 2 Network. Update, revise, and create new policies, processes, and performance measures for the lab in response to forecasted trends, corrective actions, and recommendations provided by internal and external inspection groups. Report directly to the Laboratory Manager, Diagnostics and Therapeutics Care Line Manager, and Chief of Pathology. Conduct annual reviews of inspector checklists such as College of American Pathologists, American Association of Blood Bankers, Federal Drug Administration, Joint Commission, the Regional Commissioner, and other surveying agencies. Ensure compliance with highly complex inspection and accreditation requirements and regulations. Develop and manage adverse incident reporting system. Design and distribute customer and provider satisfaction surveys and initiate corrective actions as necessary. Organize and hold training on inspection and accreditation rules, regulations, and standards of laboratory accreditation agencies.
