Title of Unit: The World in Spatial Terms Title of Lesson: The World in Spatial Terms Unit Test Submitted

A. Summary of the Lesson Plan: This Geography lesson is designed to test 4th grade students on the material learned in this unit. B. Target Population: Grade Level: 4th Grade Skill Level: Students at all learning levels Grouping: individual assessment C. Materials: Unit Test Pencil Privacy Folder D. Objectives: o NV State Social Studies Standards o G5.4.1 Identify and use intermediate directions on a compass rose to locate places on a map of Nevada. G5.4.2 Identify spatial patterns on a map of Nevada, i.e., deserts, mountains, and population. G5.4.3 Construct a map of Nevada displaying human and physical features. G5.4.4 Utilize different types of Nevada maps, i.e., population and physical maps, to understand spatial distribution.

Student-Friendly Standards G5.4.1 I can use a compass rose to follow directions and locate places in Nevada. G5.4.2 I know the different regions such as deserts, and mountains on a map of Nevada. G5.4.3 I can make a map of Nevada that shows human and physical features. G5.4.4 I can use different maps to understand composition of Nevada.

E. Procedure: 1. I will instruct the students to clear off their desks and get out a pencil and set up privacy folders. I will then explain that we reviewed for our test yesterday and now its

time for the test. There will be no talking at all. When they are finished they can turn their test into me and read quietly at their desk until everyone is done. 2. Next I will pass out the tests and make sure all the desks are cleared off. I will also tell the students that if they need any help raise their hand and I will assist them. As the students are taking the test I will be walking around to make sure they are on task. 3. CLOSURE: After all students finish the test I will instruct the student to put away their privacy folders and turn their test in if they havent yet. F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? I will use the unit test to measure student understanding. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. I will know whether students understand the concepts from the lesson by grading the tests. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? I think the easiest part of the lesson will be to explain to the students that we are taking a test. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? I think the most difficult part will be teaching the students to stay quiet if they finish their tests before other students do. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? I will follow up this lesson by going over the test and re-teaching any concepts that were clearly not understood. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? If a student doesnt grasp the concept I will help them with their test and send homework home that re-teaches the lesson. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I may need to modify the skill level of the test; it may be too hard or too easy. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? The most difficult part of writing this lesson plan was typing up the unit test.
