Kitchen
1890, in Albiez-le-Vieux, a small village in the Maurienne area in the heart of the French Alps in Savoie, while working in his father's workshop, Joseph Opinel invents the pocket
In knife which is now named after him. His knives soon become very successful. In 1901, Joseph sets up his rst business next to the family workshop. In 1915, the company is moved to Chambry (Cognin). This is the start of a
fantastic adventure!
Opinel is a family-owned company and is still run by Joseph Opinels descendants. It is still based in Chambry and employs over a hundred people. This environmentally friendly company is committed to a production which is mindful of natural resources.
For the past 120 years, Opinel has been a loyal companion to nature lovers, cooks, handymen, gardeners, mountaineers, sailors and many more... Loved by the greatest artists and the most famous adventurers and adopted throughout the world as a design reference, it has become a natural extension to the human hand.
Intempora Collection
Inspired by the traditional Opinel knife design, the Intempora knives have the same comfortable grip and provide exceptional cutting quality.
The blade is manufactured in modified Sandvik 12C27 steel, a stainless steel with high carbon content for highly e ective cutting and good resistance to corrosion.
The full-tang blade extends throughout the entire length of the handle. As the weight is correctly distributed, the knife is robust and well balanced.
The moulded handle is made from fibreglass polyoxymethylene which ensures excellent resistance to wear and water and outstanding impact strength. Thanks to its curved shape and triangular prole, it provides a secure and comfortable grip.
The Intempora collection has been selected by the Ecole de Cuisine Alain Ducasse and is used in their workshops. www.ecolecuisine-alainducasse.com
