JOB DESCRIPTION POST: Salary: RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Operations Volunteer Coordinator (3 days a week)

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Volunteers PURPOSE OF JOB: To be responsible for the management and co-ordination of the XXX volunteer projects within XXX and to identify and develop new volunteer projects and opportunities

The Volunteer XXX Project aims to build XXX capacity to reach the most vulnerable and socially excluded XXX people, delivering preventative solutions through the use of volunteers, and providing opportunities for young and old Londoners to gain skills and work experience. This job description does not provide an exhaustive list of tasks and activities as all posts within the organisation are subject to evolution as the organisation develops and grows. Key Result Areas Development and coordination of the XXX Volunteer project, from attracting and recruiting volunteers through induction training and support and project development, working with XXX service managers to ensure effective use of volunteers. Volunteer Coordination responsibilities 1. To manage and support a volunteer team to deliver XXXs XXX volunteering projects. 2. To be responsible for encouraging the recruitment of volunteers from under represented groups such as BME groups, XXX volunteers, under 25s and socially excluded groups 3. To be responsible for identifying and developing new well being volunteering opportunities within XXX 4. To support XXX managers to maintain the pool of XXX volunteers working with them to organise recruitment drives, promotions, open days, networking with referring organisations and other means as may be appropriate 5. Work creatively and imaginatively to realise the objectives of XXX, in a way that engages the target groups identified.

6. To ensure that selected volunteers are provided with induction and training necessary to enable them to provide high quality services to XXX people using XXX services. 7. To organise volunteer events and identify methods of acknowledging outstanding contributions and long-term service of volunteers, sharing learning, resources and good practice with partner organisations. 8. To create outcome focused monitoring systems, collecting and collating data on service users and using such data to provide funders with timely and accurate reports on the services and projects. 9. Developing a network of relevant external professionals with an interest in the projects and keeping them informed of progress. 10. Working in partnership with health and other professionals where appropriate to enhance project delivery 11. To research and identify new developments and best practice in volunteer coordination and implement methods for involving volunteers in the planning of the organisation 12. To maintain an overview of XXX volunteering in the organisation and develop and implement an organisational XXX volunteer action plan. 13. To monitor, review and update XXX volunteer policies and procedures and keep an up to date knowledge of changes in legislation and best practice. 14. .To investigate and obtain a suitable Volunteering Quality Standard.. 15. To manage budgets appropriate to the post. ORGANISATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Meet legislative and regulatory requirements. Carry out administrative duties in connection with the post Provide statistical information in relation to monitoring requirements Contribute to the overall achievement of XXX mission, and objectives Provide a supportive working environment to all staff and volunteers Ensure the values of XXX are upheld across the organisation Attend regular supervisions, staff and team meetings as requested To participate in networking activity at local and national level. To undertake research and contribute to reports Undertake any other duties as determined by the Senior Management Team and Chief Executive of XXX Carry out duties in accordance with XXX's policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Confidentiality, Equal Opportunities etc Promotion of a Supportive Working Environment A supportive working environment can be defined as an environment where contribution is recognised, encouraged and rewarded. Staff and volunteers alike expect to be encouraged to develop personally and professionally and to acquire new skills at a pace that is suitable to them. All staff and volunteers must promote this environment as part of their roles and responsibilities. Training and Development Training and development of staff and volunteers is a key expectation of all staff employed by the organisation. They will demonstrate their commitment to staff and/or volunteer development by assessing skills, planning development activities, discussing outcomes and evaluating effectiveness. They will be expected to motivate, encourage, coach and support staff and/or volunteers towards the outcomes agreed.

PERSON SPECIFICATION The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate empathy for our service users and be committed to the promotion of a supportive working environment. All posts within the organisation are subject to change as the organisation grows and develops. Staff must be able to adapt to change and, therefore, flexibility is a key attribute required of all employees. It is essential that the postholder has the following experience and knowledge: At least two years experience of volunteer management Knowledge and understanding of legislation and models of best practice applicable to working with volunteers At least one year's direct project management experience. An understanding of the preventative agenda for XXX people, An awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of volunteers and XXX people and an understanding of the cultural and religious needs of people from under represented groups.

It is essential that the post holder has the following skills and abilities Ability to develop new initiatives and to respond to the changing needs of the organisation and its volunteers Ability to develop and maintain best practice policies and procedures for working with volunteers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to produce concise reports and documents Ability to develop effective monitoring and evaluation processes. Ability to work on own initiative and manage and prioritise your own work load Good numeric and accuracy skills and ability to maintain and monitor budgets. Computer literate (knowledge of word processing, database, spreadsheet and internet systems).
