Volunteer Projects Team Leader 35 hours per week 3 volunteer coordinators Operations Director Fixed Term Contract until end of March 2009

PURPOSE OF POST To be responsible for the management and co-ordination of volunteer coordinators and projects within XXX and XXX and to identify and develop new volunteer projects DUTIES 1. To manage and support a team of volunteer coordinators to deliver XXX and XXXs diverse volunteering projects 2. To be responsible for identifying and developing new volunteering projects within XXX and XXX 3. To research and identify funding opportunities for existing volunteer projects and new developments and implement methods for involving volunteers in the planning of the organisation 4. To maintain an overview of volunteering in the organisation and develop and implement an organisational volunteer action plan. 5. To monitor, review and update XXX volunteer policies and procedures and keep an up to date knowledge of changes in legislation and best practice. 6. To be responsible for maintaining the pool of XXX volunteers working with the human resource officer organising recruitment drives, promotions, open days, networking with referring organisations and other means as may be appropriate. 7. To be responsible for encouraging the recruitment of volunteers from under represented groups such as BME groups, older volunteers, under 25s and socially excluded groups. 8. To ensure that selected volunteers are suitably inducted into XXX 9. To investigate and obtain a suitable Volunteering Quality Standard.. 10. To organise volunteer events and identify methods of acknowledging outstanding contributions and long-term service of volunteers. 11. To manage budgets appropriate to the post. Other duties 1. To attend staff, team and supervision meetings as required. 2. To work in accordance with XXXs policies and procedures ensuring these are carried out in relation to the job, e.g. Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality etc.

3. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for which Time off in Lieu will be given, as agreed by a Senior Manager. 4. All staff may be asked to undertake other duties and responsibilities appropriate to the grade, as determined by their line manager. XXX XXX AND XXX PERSON SPECIFICATION Job Title: Work Experience Substantial experience of volunteer management. Direct project management experience, including budget responsibility within the voluntary sector Experience of staff management including provision of staff supervision and performance management Experience of monitoring and evaluation of project work Knowledge Knowledge and understanding of legislation and models of best practice applicable to working with volunteers An understanding of the issues affecting voluntary sector organisations, Knowledge and understanding of equal opportunities and its application to service delivery. An awareness of and sensitivity to the needs of volunteers and older people and an understanding of the cultural and religious needs of people from under represented groups. Skills and Abilities Good human resource skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team of volunteer coordinators. Ability to develop new initiatives and to respond to the changing needs of the organisation and its volunteers Ability to develop and maintain best practice policies and procedures for working with volunteers. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to produce concise reports and documents. Ability to work on own initiative and manage and prioritise your own work load Good numeric and accuracy skills and ability to maintain and monitor budgets.
