1) Practicing the Lordship of Christ to discover His will: Practicing the Lordship of Christ involves authority, ownership, worship, dependence, priorities and yielding Authority: Respecting and recognizing the authority of Jesus who controls us (Lk 6:46, Mal 1:6) Ownership Acknowledging His right of ownership (I Cor: 6:19,20; I Pet 18, 19) Worship Confessing Lords leadership and worshiping Him (Phil 2:9-11). This is to be dine not alone with our tongues but also with our daily life. Dependence Accepting our nothingness and unworthiness and agreeing with Jesus that apart from Him we can do nothing (Jn 15:5). In other words it is the life of faith and total surrender. Priorities Christs Lordship requires that we set right our priorities. Right priorities are to be set in our daily necessities (stewardship [Mat 6:33]), daily activities (discipleship [Lk 9:23]), daily role (leadership [II Cor 16:9]) Our commitment to Christ should control our priorities; our priorities in turn should control our decissions Unconditional Yielding (I ccccor 6:19,20) Lordship begins and continues by yielding Christ controls (Phil 2:13)

Yielding has to take place in physical, mental, social and spiritual dimensions (Rom 12: 11, 12) 2) Finding Gods will Only those who do the will of God enter the Kingdo of God (Mat 7:21) True brothers of Jesus are those who do His will (Mat 12:50) Jesus did Fathers will (Jn 4:34)

Why is it important to know Gods will? We are incapable of planning our lives (Jere 10:23, Isia 53:6) Only God knows the way we should go (Isia 48:17, Jere 29:11) Knowledge of Gods will brings assurance into our prayers:(I Jn 5:14,15, Eph:6:1-3) Will of God brings blessings in the life to come (I Jn 2:17) God commands us to do His will (Eph 5:17, Colo 1:9) God commands us to obey His will (Eph 6:5, 6) How to find Gods will? No streamlined recipe, shortcut or formula is available Bile lays down certain basic steps we should consider A. Believe God will reveal His will a. We should be willing to do Gods will and wait for Gods time to be revealed b. Wait patiently, quietly, hopefully, expectantly and trustingly c. Dont plead with God to allow to have what you want than resting in Gods wisdom and love (Num 11:13,33) B. Listen to Gods Word Few revealed will of God: Marriage (!! Cor 6:14, Helping (James 2:15,16, I Jn 3:17), Court and case ( I Cor 6:1-8), lying and theft (Eph 4:25,26), reconciliation with a fraud (Mat 5:23,24), Keeping the promise (Ps: 15:4, Pro 12:22), Debt (Rom 13:8), dowry & lottery (Pro 28: 20, 13:11) In Bible God has placed commandments and prohibitions, worked out principles and illustrations Gods will is always in harmony with Gods Word (Lk:4:4-8) C. We must pray (Phil 4:6) D. Hear the inner voice of Holy Spirit (Jn 16:13) a. Check whether Holy spirit motivates us towards or away from a particular course of action b. Holy Spirit guides us in accordance to the word of God only c. Holy Spirit speaks through an inner pressure on our spirits. This pressure increases as we wait on the Lord and it will accompanied by a growing inward peace. d. Inner voice is not the same as doing right or wrong as the worldly people think, but it has more to do with the life and intention of Jesus e. To distinguish the voice of the Spirit from other voice we should examine our motives E. Consult: (Pro 12:15, 24:6): consult family (Pro 1:8, Gen 21:12,), friends (Lk:16:8), elders (Heb 13:7, Job 8:8) Remember councilors should not become controllers F. Take into account the circumstance a. Check if God has arranged events to give us positive guidance (Pro 2:8, Rom 8:28) b. Circumstances must be considered only in conjuction with and in subjection to the inner witness of Holy Spirit and the revealed witness of the Bible G. Inner peace a. Check if you have inner peace as you consider the above factors (Isia 32:17, Phil 4:7, Psal 119:165) H. More than one confirmation (Mat :18:16, II Cor: 13:1, Acts 13:1-3) The above principles are to be followed with much fasting and prayer and in unreserved and unconditional openness

What do I want to preserve? What do I want to avoid?
