A. Summary of the Lesson Plan: This lesson continues discussing consumers and producers. Students will get to apply knowledge from day 1 to a small group activity. B. Target Population: Grade Level: 2nd. Skill Level: on level Grouping: Whole group for procedure steps 1-2. Small group for steps 3-4. Independent practice for step 5-6. C. Materials: 1 copy of the book Whos Buying? Whos Selling? Understanding Consumers and Producers. By Jennifer Larson. List of scenarios Consumer/Producer review worksheet D. Objectives: o NV State Social Studies Standards o E9. 2.2 Identify consumers and where they make purchases. E9.2.3 Identify producers in your neighborhood and community.

Student-Friendly Standards I can explain what a consumer is and where they buy items. I can explain what a producer is and give an example of an item they make for the community.

E. Procedure: 1. Teacher will review consumer and producer from day 1. 2. Reread the book, Whos Buying? Whos Selling? to the students. 3. Teacher will work in small groups after being given a scenario. Students will be given time to plan a short sketch using the scenario for the class representing consumer and producer. 4. Groups will present their short sketch to the class. The class discusses which are the consumer and producer from each sketch. 5. Students will work independently to describe 1 sketch presented. Students will write a short paragraph for the consumer and 1 for the producer explaining why they represent each. Students are not allowed to write about the sketch they presented to the class.

6. Students will fill out the Consumer/Producer review worksheet independently also. 7. CLOSURE: Students will share 1 example from either their journal or worksheet with a shoulder partner. F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? I will use the journal entry and review worksheet to measure student understanding. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. I will know if the students understand the concept by their written description in their journals. Students need to identify consumer and producer and explain each in the entry. Students also need to answer the questions on the review worksheet correctly. The questions will be directed toward the objectives.
