2. I will tell students that they will have to get in groups of 3 or 4 for their next activity which will be a trip around the world. They will have this class period to gather research and some of the next class period to finish their assignment, then they will present to the class. I will give students the instructions: (Students will also have the handout to use as reference) Your group will choose a continent that you want to research. You will find where your continent is located on the map Once you have found the continent that you want to research you will find a country in that continent that you want to study. You will find interesting facts out about the country such as the leader, how their flag looks, how that country looks on the map, animals that live in the country, foods that are eaten in the country. You should split each of the research questions and items so that each person has something to do.

3. With their group students will begin their research. They may print out pictures that go along with their project so that they dont have to draw each item. Students will use handout as a guide but ultimately they will transfer all the information to a poster board so that everyone can view their work. 4. During their activity I will walk around and answer students questions to ensure that they are on track and getting all of the information they need. 5. CLOSURE: For a ticket out the door I will have students tell me the continent their group chose, where it is located, and one interesting fact that they found about their country. F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? I will use the ticket out the door to measure students understanding. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. I will know students understand the concepts from the lesson if they can tell me where their continent is located and an interesting fact about the country. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach?

I think that this is a fairly easy lesson. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? I think answering some of the questions on the handout might be hard because they are in first grade. For instance, the location/neighboring countries, some students might not know what that means. Also important products that are used in the country. I will have to help students with some of the questions. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? I will have students continue their part of the research at home and find two more facts. Parents will need to help students out. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For students who do not grasp the concepts I will walk around and answer questions for them. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I do not think that any part of the lesson needs to be changed. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? The most difficult part was figuring out how to adapt this activity so that first graders could do it. I thought that by having them do a group project it would ease the burden a little and they could support one another.
