Day 1

This day marked the first day of my practicum training in Networld Hotel. At first, I thought that I would be assigned in an office setting particularly in the Cost Control Department; however, they told me that I would be assigned in the Food and Beverage Department. Since the location of their Caf and bar is at Naia 3, we immediately proceed to that area with the training manager and my supervisor. While in the car they oriented us on what to expect in their Caf and what could be our duties and responsibilities. When we were already in our practicum venue they immediately taught us the basic thing that we will do. I ended my first day not so tiring, because we just had a half day duty, but somehow I learned something.

I am very excited to go to work again. At first, I find it very difficult to go to my practicum venue, since it is just my first time to go there and it is far from our house. Together with my friend we used a LRT and public transportation in going there. We were 15 minutes late, we arrived around 9:15, but they didnt consider it so we put 9:30 in our attendance sheet. Just like what we did during the first day, we also did the same thing. During our second day I make sure that all the mistakes that I did during the first day I corrected it. As time passes by, Im continuously learning a lot of things like how to take orders, proper way of doing table setting and do sales talk to the guests.

During my third day I can say that somehow Im starting to become independent in doing my tasks. My supervisor let me do things on my own like taking the orders, serving the guests, billing out and bussing out. He just monitors me and corrects me if Im doing something wrong. There are couple of times that I committed some mistakes, but it is just fine with them since Im only starting. One mistake that I wont forget was that I mistakenly put the wrong table number in the food order slip, but they immediately solved the problem. There are also times that I find it difficult to carry a tray with full of plates, so what I do is that I make it sure that I practice it first so that I will get used to that kind of task.
