Taming of the Shrew

Goal Role

GRASPS

To interpret aspects of performance (dialogue, music, design) for a new production of Taming of the Shrew. A member of a creative team, pitching a concept for a new production of Taming of the Shrew.

Audience The Artistic Director of a local theater. Scenario


You will be creating a proposal that describes and illustrates your idea for a new interpretation of the play, explaining your choices using evidence from the text. A 3-5 page paper that includes the following: 1). A concept/theme for the play from a different time period or context that enhances the themes of the play and how it will be applied to the play. 2). A playlist or soundtrack that includes one track for each Act of the play that supports your theme or concept. 3). A visual representation of set or costume design that aligns with your theme/concept (PowerPoint, sketches, poster, 3D model, etc.) accompanied by written justification. You must EXPLAIN the reasoning behind each of your choices and why you believe your concept would be effective in enhancing the themes within the play. You must use specific textual support and examples: at least three to defend your concept; one example for each song/act; and two to support your visual design concept for a total of SIX examples from the text.
